If you want a place take your child, ( meaning a dog), this will be your home for your stay. Very peaceful and very clean and they have everything that you could possibly need or want for your stay. I'm going back there.
Everything needed was there, really clean & shiny where shine was appropriate. Knotty pine and tasteful wood were the primary building materials. Two old school library chairs were provided. We used them for luggage. To relax I brought inside one of the lawn chairs from around the fire-pit. We were visiting family and only returned to the Blue Door” to sleep at nights.
Lodging is very convenient to most local attractions; within half-hour to 2 hours driving time of Grand Mesa (to north), Uncompahgre forest (to SE), Black Canyon north rim (to SE), Escalante canyonlands (just to NW of Delta), while the Gunnison River flows past just below the entrance to the property.
Quiet rural location, but only a few miles from gas, grocery stores, a Walmart (!) even...
Cabin is not quite as "tiny" as it sounds, it really does have adequate space, various cooking appliances, etc. -- plus a "front yard" with table, chairs, grille, fire pit, etc.
I would agree with the host that midsummer can be a bit of a struggle here (be careful of sun exposure through windows, etc.). But for a spring or fall trip get your reservations in early. (maybe even for winter, with a ski area just across the mesa)
We were dealing with constant smoke from all the western fires, etc. -- but our biggest problem was deciding where all to go in the limited time we had.
We loved this tiny house. It has all we needed for our one night stay. We were 4 people and despite the small space we managed to be very comfortable. It rained when we arrived so we couldn’t take advantage of the outdoors but this is a great option for stargazing or bonfire. The area around is quiet and private. We really enjoyed our stay there. The house smelled like pine. Really nice.
We loved this tiny house. It was a gem of a find for us, and very conveniently located for us to explore the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. It sits about halfway between the two routes - going in opposite directions - to the north and south rims of the park. The house itself was perfect and we felt so at home and relaxed there. It was also very easy to step outside with our dog when needed or just go for a stroll down to the river - via “The Draw” path. Gorgeous. There were even chairs and a fire pit there to sit and relax. We’ll be returning to the house for sure, and may also check out the other houses available there. We were very impressed.
Awesome general area to hike and explore. Tiny house was great. Very quiet location, well appointed with everything needed and thoughtfully designed accommodation was a great base for our little holiday.
Located on a plateau above the Gunnison River the views are stunning! My tiny home was clean and comfortable with so many fun little details. Outside was a fire pit and hammocks and table. Definitely walk down to The Draw for sunset!
