We had a wonderful stay in Stratton! The house was extremely clean, spacious, and peaceful, with large rooms that gave everyone plenty of space to relax. We especially loved the outdoor area and hot tub. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Vermont. The host made check-in very easy and communication was great if we needed anything. We also really appreciated all the thoughtful information provided about local restaurants, nearby activities, hiking locations, and things to do in the area. It made planning our days so much easier and allowed us to truly enjoy our stay. You could tell the host had thought of everything to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. We made some wonderful memories here and would absolutely recommend this home to anyone visiting the Stratton area. We would definitely stay again!
We had an amazing stay. It was the perfect location for 4 couples. The owners were super responsive. Amenities were great (our only kitchen recommendation is a non-glass cutting board and individual salt and pepper shakers). Would love to stay again in the summer next time!
What a house! The house exceeded everything that we expected! The house showed exactly as it was in the pictures. Set back in the woods it was a relaxing mountain escape.
Everything about this property is wonderful. The space is updated and spotless. Everything we needed was there with the exception of an automatic coffee maker but that was solved with the French press that was there (it tastes better made in a French press anyway).
From the outdoor/indoor games to the treehouse, the hot tub to the sauna, there is so much entertainment built in for both adults and kids/teens. The owners are super responsive and even messaged us to let us know there was a blueberry festival happening nearby. We are already planning our next trip and we will be staying at Hygge House again!

We’re so glad that you enjoyed your stay and we’re looking forward to your next visit! While we agree French press is better ;-) there is also a standard drip coffee maker in one of the cabinets in the kitchen. Just want to clarify for any future guests who may read this.
The owners were fantastic to work with! They were responsive, informational and were happy to answer any questions we had of the area. The Hygge house was the perfect size for our 2 families to enjoy the weekend, we did not want to leave! There is an incredible amount of nature to enjoy with 20 minutes of the house whether you want to hike or fish and if you wanted to relax at their home you can comfortably inside or outdoors at the fire pit or even in the treehouse to play checkers! We cooked in each night ... The kitchen was spacious and easy for us all to move around in. There is a large patio in the back with a grill as well. We loved the shuffleboard and the sauna would be amazing come Fall or Winter. We will definitely return!
Truly beautiful house in Vermont. A wonderful getaway for my friends and I. Would highly recommend and would love to come back again! Communication with Meredith and Josh was clear and quick when needed. House was spotlessly clean!

About the host
Hosted by Meredith & Josh
Hygge House is a special place and a retreat for our family that we like to share with other families. We bought the house in late 2021 as a way for us to get away and into the mountains to enjoy the nature and wildlife that we love as a family.
We're a family of 4, now with 2 teenagers. We love hiking and snowshoeing the many trails in Green Mountain National Forest and the surrounding area, skiing at Stratton Mountain and Mount Snow, paddling on Grout Pond, and enjoying the peace and quiet of our 4 private acres, feeling hidden from the world.
Why they chose this property
Enjoy all of Hygge House and it's 4 private wooded acres. Set back away from the road, it is truly a private escape where you can enjoy the peace and solitude of the forests of the Southern Green Mountains, whether from the giant picture windows, from an Adirondack chair on the huge stone patio or from atop the treehouse in the backyard.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy the peaceful privacy of over 4 wooded acres set back from the street. You won't see the road or any neighbors. The house is on a paved road with a 500 foot gravel driveway, common in Vermont. Just down the street, there is access to beautiful trails through the Green Mountain National Forest for hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing that don't appear on maps but we'll share with you.
The house is located on a paved road, set back over 500 feet on a wooded lot. The driveway is packed gravel and easily navigable by cars, SUVs, or trucks alike. In the winter, the driveway is plowed and sanded as needed. The driveway has a loop and there is plenty of space to park your vehicles and any trailers for your big toys. Just be sure not to ride those big toys on our property, please. You'll feel like you're staying out in the woods (because you are) but only 8-12 minutes from Mount Snow and Stratton Mountain and the many restaurants and shops in Dover, Stratton, and Wilmington. There are markets and country stores located as close as 3 minutes from the house so that you can buy food or head to town for a meal or takeout.
