Serene, stylish cottage - close to Hudson - New Listing

Serene and stylish private cottage on 10 acre woodland property. The space is designed for simplicity and relaxation - ideal setting for anyone seeking a quiet home base in nature. Custom details throughout - the bedroom features a handmade 12 foot writing desk that looks out over the treetops. Kitchen has new appliances, and is equipped for light cooking. The cottage extends off the main house, and is self-contained, with its own parking space. It faces the front of the property, while the main house is oriented towards the back, so there's plenty of privacy. There is a spacious lawn around the house, surrounded by woodlands. Guests have exclusive use of a yard with hammock and Adirondack chairs with a small fire pit. You can walk or bike right out the drive onto a lovely, scenic country road. Beautiful Lake Taghkanic State Park is a 12 minute drive. Great for swimming , picnics and naturewalk .I have a pair of inflatable paddle boards available for your use, with a pump that runs off a car battery. Also a pickleball set you can use on the tennis court across the street . I have a folding mattress that can accommodate a child. Pet policy : no cats. Dogs on approval with an additional fee of $50 per visit.

Centrally located between Germantown and Hudson, with its many restaurants, galleries, farmers market, antique stores. The area is abundant with nature hikes, historic river estates, parks and lakes, bike paths, beautiful villages and orchards. Easy access to all.

Hudson Valley Get-away

The cottage was beautifully situated in the trees with a lot of privacy. It was very clean and well maintained. It was reasonably close to the places we wanted to visit. A microwave and TV would be nice additions, but we had a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful Hudson cottage

I stayed here to get away from the city heat and noise to do some writing. Lila's place is exactly what I needed: comfortable for 1-2 people, thoughtfully designed, simple but with all the necessities. It is located on a country road that is wonderful to walk down, especially in the evenings.

Nice private cottage, great access to Hudson

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Weather was in the high 80s while we stayed there but with the AC unit we remained comfortable. Kitchen area had everything we needed for coffee and breakfast. We weren't able to enjoy the outdoor area much due to the heat and concerns about ticks but the property was quiet and comfortable and an easy drive into the town of Hudson

Lovely Livingston Cottage

This spacious semi-detached cottage was comfortable and ultra clean. While the downstairs area is a bit sparse, and the functional kitchen would be vastly improved with the addition of a microwave, you will otherwise find all that you need here – very good value for the money.

The property was perfect for our stay. We were visiting my son who lives in Hudson. It was close enough to him but beautifully quiet and private. Everything was kept extremely well and clean. This was our first experience with a verb but will definitely not be our last.

Pleasant, quiet one-bedroom cottage with a spacious living room/kitchen/eating area downstairs and a roomy bedroom upstairs. Great book selection! The only thing we missed was having a microwave, but it wasn't really a problem. Host was very accommodating and check-in was super easy.

It was great. Very cozy. Lila was super helpful and flexible with our needs. The cottage is attached to her house but that didn't obstruct the privacy we needed. There was a beautiful lake nearby that we walked around and a grocery store very close. It was the perfect place to work, rest, and escape the city.

A lovely retreat

We loved this unique cottage, its spare yet comfortable furnishings and its secluded location in the woods. The host was very thoughtful and communicative prior to our arrival. There was a short-lived, weather-related power outage during our stay and the host could not have been more solicitous of our comfort or more respectful of our privacy.

Peaceful Retreat

What a lovely getaway spot! The cottage is super clean and comfy, the yard is idyllic. Loved the hammock! The place is on a pretty country road, so there's complete peace and quiet I also zipped into Hudson (10 min away) a couple of times - lots of restaurants and shops there. Lila was a great host - discreet but responsive. I needed a quiet place to think and write for the weekend and this was perfect.

The cutest cottage stay near Hudson

My partner and I needed a break from NYC and wanted to be immersed in the countryside with access to Hudson's restaurants. This cottage was perfect. The interior is so well designed -- we enjoyed the record player and loved the bedroom upstairs. It was a perfect, serene spot for journaling by the window. I went on morning runs down the road by farmland, and we traveled to nearby hikes and downtown Hudson for food (and Red Hook!). Check in was seamless, and the directions to get there were clear. We hope to stay again!

Lila’s Cottage is a beautiful retreat. The space is ample for two people with a downstairs living room kitchen area and upstairs sleeping quarters and bathroom. The architectural design esthetic is beautiful minimalist with lots of finely crafted natural wood accents, a beautiful wood slatted staircase support and the best part… a very long wood writing desk situated under muted but sunny window light - just right for a morning writing practice before my day got started.

Loved every quiet, peaceful moment

Anyone looking for quiet will find it here. The cottage is located off an untraveled road that is itself an offshoot of an unbusy country road. The cottage, shielded from the untraveled road by a small stand of trees, has its own yard, hammock included. The décor is simple but stylish and has everything required for work or relaxation. Hudson and Germantown are close by as are many farm stands. We had the most delicious strawberries.

Quaint Upstate Cottage

We stayed at the cottage while visiting family over the holidays. It was a quaint, well kept two story that was nicely appointed with the necessities. Lots of character throughout. Though what we needed from our stay was just somewhere to sleep for the few nights we were in the area, we got much more. We looked forward to driving the back country roads leading to our respite in the woods at the end of a busy day. The owner was wonderful and very responsive. We will definitely return to the cottage when we visit the area again! Highly recommend!!

Loveliest getaway with the best host

The perfect escape from the city! This cottage is equipped with everything you’d need and is located on a beautiful farm road. The surrounding area is filled with wildlife and lots of unique mushrooms growing around the property (which we loved). Lila was the greatest host and was so kind to drive us to the train station when we couldn’t find a ride after a huge storm came through NY - we really appreciated her hospitality and generosity! She did an amazing job restoring this property and we recommend you grab it while you can! P.s we recommend having a car or means of transportation if you’re staying here!

I am happy to host guests seeking a quiet retreat, or a home base for exploring the environs. I have been here for a few years now, and feel it has a special character. Situated back from a quiet country road, yet centrally located between Germantown and Hudson. There is abundant wildlife for nature lovers. The cottage is fully renovated, with custom woodwork and attention to aesthetics.

The place is quiet and the natural setting a lovely blend of woods and lawn. The environs provide classic Hudson Valley pastoral scenes, yet you’re close to Hudson with its broad range of culture and shopping.
