The place was just as described. We loved how peaceful and scenic it was. Great place to stay and visit Shepherdstown and Harper’s Ferry. Being able to kayak on the Potomac was a huge plus.
Very peaceful and what a beautiful view!! It was a little cool while we were there so we didn’t use the kayaks provided, but would love to go back in the summer. Great outdoor space to drink coffee in the mornings and sit by the fire at night.
Quiet, comfortable property with great river views and access. Stayed 8 days with our two Labrador Retrievers that loved the river. We enjoyed the use of kayaks on the property and spent lots of time on the river. Located within easy travel to plenty of sights, restaurants, and other fun. We had great communication with the hosts. Definitely look forward to going back again!!
Very convenient to Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, and Charles Town. Also nice to just sit on the porch or near the river. Hubby caught a couple of nice catfish. Overall a nice place to stay.
Was the perfect place to go and relax. Sitting on the front porch, enjoying the river view really made the time here special. It's a great location if visiting Harpers Ferry or Antietam. Looking forward to coming back again but want to spend more time next time.
It was just what I was looking for
peaceful and relaxing. Perfect location
and view, so many adventurous things you can do or simply do nothing at all.
Beautiful location, really enjoyed the river, the front porch and the grass lawn! The house was clean and well stocked with anything we could need. The only issues we had was that the bunk bed was very wobbly, to the point my son couldn’t sleep in it for fear it would fall on his brother, and the entire place is just covered in ants, so many ants. We had to keep our perishables in the fridge or microwave. Even ants in the beds.
Cute little place, right on the river, plenty of yard space for our dog. Host was responsive to messages. Easy to find and access. Definitely stop for food on your way in. It’s a bit of a trek back out for dinner or groceries. The fireplace was a bit unreliable, but we got it working the first night. The second day it wouldn’t work at all. Maybe a breaker as suggested by the Host, but we didn’t try it. Listing mentioned possible “pests” so I’m thinking the occasional mouse or spiders, no big deal, I’ve lived in rural areas. Instead, there’s a known and significant ant problem as indicated by the ant bait traps everywhere. So many ant baits. Host says the home was also just treated 2 weeks prior, but the ants are everywhere. First day we noticed a lot of singular ants randomly here and there, every single room. We stored all food inside the refrigerator on day 1, so we didn’t attract more ants or lose food. Second day, the kitchen counter was overrun with a trail of ants. Host directed me to ant spray under the kitchen counter. Great, but I was still left with an uncomfortable “buggy” feeling and I don’t appreciate the amount of time I had to spend spraying and killing ants, retreating the area again, then cleaning the kitchen since the counter was covered in dead ants and spray poison. This was supposed to be a relaxing little stop over on long road trip.
Enjoyed the river view from the porch. Quiet and relaxing area close to Historic attractions. Had a fire in the chiminea by the deck and went fishing several times. The host, Cathy, was quick to respond to our questions. Definitely a place to be lazy and watch the deer and birds around the property.
We took our first look photos here and it was fantastic. Easy access to the canal. Be prepared as cellular signal was weak. we enjoyed our early morning kayaking trip. We will definitely return.

Stay in Harpers Ferry
Great view of the river and seating area. Book this place if you are a total outdoor person. However, the property smelled of mold and could be cleaner. Also the pictures could be a bit deceiving as the furniture was old and creaky. We booked for 2 night but left without staying the second night because we couldn’t sleep the first night as well.

The “great outdoors” isn’t for everyone. It is absolutely quiet and peaceful here, except for a few owls and tree frogs. Our furnishings and photos are totally accurate and the only thing that could possibly be “creaky” is the wicker deck furniture. And definitely no mold. Our cleaners are awesome! (they didn’t appreciate the mess you left) We live close by and had you contacted us, we could have been right over to address any concerns.
