A few possibilities if you decide to peel yourself away from your seat on the beach: Pine Point's favorite restaurants and bars (one in a spectacular setting on the marsh, especially as the sun draws down) are a 20 minute (approximate) stroll down the beach. The Scarborough Marsh (largest salt marsh in the state) and adjacent Eastern Trail (22 off-road miles from Bug Light, South Portland to Kennebunkport) are great places to explore by canoe, kayak, bike, foot – located just up the Pine Point Road. And, the historic Old Orchard Beach pier and amusement park is an easy 2 miles away – accessible by the beach trolley if you are inclined – young ones love the trolley! Portland’s vibrant waterfront and award winning eating scene is a quick 15 miles north, offering restaurants, island hopping ferries, whaling/fishing tours, shopping, museums – the list goes on. Another 15 miles north gets you to Freeport and the home of LL Bean.
