Great seaside house - 10 min walk to the beach - relax, reconnect and rejuvenate

Great little beach house with cool nods to the 1950s era, themed with mid century modern furniture coupled with the laid back vibe of a seaside town with photography and décor that embodies the late 1950’s to early 1960’s. There is plenty to do in the home from relaxing on the enclosed porch or to playing cards, board games and puzzles…. but in visiting the quaint town of Ormond-by-the-Sea, one must explore! The beach is just ⅓ a mile away at the end of the road, with public access and parking (should you choose to drive), restroom facilities, showers and lifeguard stand. AND yes, we have plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, beach toys , blankets and bags to carry all the fun in.
Love to fish? Love to see amazing sunsets over the water? Enjoy the Halifax River ¼ mile away, where you can enjoy fishing or just taking in the peace and tranquility of the river. There is a great state park just on the other side of the river, or within a mile, access to nature trails. The house is also located within a 10 minute walk to a great local restaurant and less than 15 to a cute beachside ice cream shop, along with tons of more options within just a few miles.
For those who love to cook the kitchen is filled with tools from the waffle iron, to cutting boards, cookie sheets and pizza sheets…. we invite our guests to explore all the cabinets in the kitchen to find what they need to make their visit just right. Our hosts are also available to make suggestions and ensure you have a great stay!

Great Stay at Starfish House

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at the Starfish House. This was our second time renting this property. It is well equipped and the lication is excellent. Enjoy sunrise at the ocean and sunset from the nearby pier overlooking the Intercoastal!

Beautiful House

All was perfect, from the closeness to the beach, to the completeness of the property. We liked the bikes, beach chairs, TV in every room, good AC, complete kitchen and laundry room. Will definitely return and will recommend the property to family and friends. Property manager, Valerie was very easy to get in contact with.

Ormand beach

Everything about the house was great. We did not get a chance to use the bikes or beach chairs...it rained almost the whole time we were there. Having a tv in every room and strong wifi made our stay enjoyable even though we could not do much outside of the house.

Great beach house

I have stayed with my family at a number of Ormond Beach homes and this home was at the top of the list. Very spacious for our family of 5, fenced in back yard for our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the home had everything we needed, was clean, a/c worked perfectly. The home is also close to a couple of local parks with beach access, as well as Publix. Valerie was very easy to communicate with, not that we had any issues to communicate. Overall, a great property and we would definitely stay again!

Highly recommend this home! Clean, well equipped, spacious. Comfortably accommodated 5 adults and one toddler without tripping over each other. Walking distance to sandy beach (beautiful sunrises) and river (spectacular sunsets). Lots of parks and amenities close by. Quiet, peaceful and friendly neighborhood. Hosts were very approachable and responsive. Couldn't be more impressed!

The home was extremely clean! We had everything we needed, and more!! Valerie and Linda have thought of everything you need for home away from home…even for the fur babies!!! We’d forgotten bowls for our fur girls and BAM! they had them in the cabinet!!! This was the most relaxing and stress free getaway we’ve had since before our 14 year old daughter was born!! The hospitality extended to us definitely did not go unnoticed and will not be forgotten!!! Thank you ladies, for allowing us to stay at your home and make lifelong memories!!!

Great when traveling with elderly!

We took my 86 year old grandma. She was able to use her walker throughout the entire house. The showers were also large enough for her to shower with assistance. The front entrance was perfect because she didn’t have to climb stair. The home was a great little escape.

This house has everything

The house has everything you need. Go exploring in the cabinets and you will find everything from a waffle maker, pizza pans, hair dryer, laundry detergent, etc. Just bring your toothbrush. Very quiet neighborhood and walking distance to a beach. Or drive there with FREE PARKING. We had a few cool nights so we could open the windows and hear the ocean. Our dogs loved the yard and the squirrels. Definitely check out Lenny's pizza in Ormond and The Cellar in Daytona. Looking forward to going back next year. It was clean and was just like the photos.

Perfect beach getaway

The property was perfect for the 6 of us! Fully stocked kitchen and lots of beach accessories plus board games worked out perfectly. Plenty of room to spread out in the house as well as on the screened back porch and yard. Very short walk to beach and/or drive with ample parking, bathrooms and showers! Even shorter walk to a small pier on the riverside. Sunrise on the beach and sunset at the river. Absolutely beautiful. Had lots of much needed chill time and walks on the beach. Perfect!

Thank you for choosing our location to create memories, relax, reconnect and rejuvenate!
The Starfish House is owned by Valinda Properties, LLC which, we think, has a pretty cool story. Valerie is Linda’s niece, but we are truly more like sisters! Our family has been in the real estate business for 100 years in Florida and in hospitality for nearly 60 years. Together we have been renting places on the beach for vacation over the past few years and then we had the bright idea… Why don’t we get into this business! This Ah-ha moment turned into our first property called the Starfish House in Ormond by the Sea, FL.
Every home needs a name, right? We were perplexed as to what to call our first home…. Standing in Buc-ee’s, Linda says “hey, what about the Starfish House?” Valerie immediately responded, “I love that story!” and Linda said “Me too!!” This is such a testament to how we strive to live our lives and operate in the world. We both hope that the Starfish House will be making a difference in the lives of many people who stay here, as much as we hope it will for our families too!

Why they chose this property

We have taken a lot of care and attention to make this house feel like a home. We have both really enjoyed the process of finding the right furniture, wall décor and accent pieces. Considering the home was built in 1957, we tried to keep in the theme of mid century modern furniture coupled with the laid back vibe of a seaside town with photography and décor that embodies the late 1950’s to early 1960’s. Almost everything in the home has a story of how it was acquired or why it was selected. When we are there, we feel surrounded by so many happy memories, feelings and thoughts of our upbringing in Miami Beach, FL, where we were so fortunate to always be surrounded by family & friends.
For those who love to cook, like Linda (or just do it to survive, like Val - LOL), we hope you will love all the kitchen tools. From the waffle iron, to cutting boards, cookie sheets and pizza sheets…. we invite you to explore all the cabinets in the kitchen to find that just right cooking utensil. You may also find other surprises that the kiddos may enjoy too. Linda loves margaritas made with fresh limes… so there is even a citrus squeezer and a cocktail shaker too. So feel free to use it all!
There is plenty to do in the home such as cards, board games and puzzles…. but we know you didn’t come to Ormond to just stay inside. The beach is just ⅓ a mile down Laurie Dr to a public access with parking (should you choose to drive), restroom facilities, showers and lifeguard stand. AND yes, we have plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, beach toys , blankets and bags to carry all the fun in. OH and a beach cart that is easy to bring on the beach.
Love to fish? Love to see amazing sunsets over the water? Enjoy the Halifax River ¼ mile west on Laurie Dr and about a block north, where you can enjoy fishing or just taking in the peace and tranquility of the river. Sorry… we do not have any fishing poles but feel free to bring one of our beach chairs down to sit and enjoy.
