From the owner: Hi Janine, we were happy to read the comments you shared in our guest book: Enjoyed your garden, swimming, kayaking, watching the hummingbirds, eagles, blue herons, and especially the very friendly ducks! - We state in our listing that we are a Federally Certified Wildlife Refuge property providing food, shelter, and areas for all animals to raise their young. We hope everyone can enjoy all the beauty nature provides. - We were surprised to read the 3-star review, and sorry you felt you could not enjoy the surroundings because you feared that you might get “duck itch”. We are very happy nobody in your group got it. As a matter of fact, none of our guests have gotten duck itch from swimming around our property. My husband and I are in the water most days from Spring until Fall and we have never gotten duck itch. We cannot control which docks the great blue herons, ducks, muskrats, and beavers decide to settle on. We do supply our guests with a hose, next to the dock. Guests can spray the docks, as often as they like. - Duck itch is primarily found in areas with calm, warm waters. Our property is located on the largest part of the lake, nearly 2 miles across, and the water is constantly in motion. - We would enjoy the opportunity to host you again.
