Secluded / Private Maine Lake Retreat,
WIR SPRECHEN DEUTSCH ,
Welcome to Camp Hope on beautiful Lake Winnecook (also known as Unity Pond) in Central Maine. Thank you for considering our cabin style camp for your vacation. It beckons to those with an appreciation for nature and a tranquil escape to the real world. At our private and secluded location you will have the opportunity to experience the great outdoors while having all the comforts of home. Even though Camp Hope is secluded it is only 2-1/2 miles to an authentic general store where they make the best pizza around and sell the cheapest gasoline .
Spend your leisure time at our retreat and enjoy the privacy and spectacular views. Lightning Bugs (Fireflies) light up the evening sky along with the stars. Many times wild turkeys and deer cross our open meadow. There is nothing like fishing on the lake or from the shoreline as you listen to the sounds of nature. There are majestic loons with their haunting calls to complete the Maine experience.
Nearby in the town of Unity, there is a recreational park named the Field of Dreams, along with a full service grocery store and several restaurants. There is a golf course on the lake shore nearby and weekly stock car racing at Unity Raceway. We are about 30 minutes from the coast – Belfast is our county seat and a wonderful city for walking down to the harbor and checking out the shops.
If your pace is a little bit slower, relax on our spacious screened-in porch facing a 2 acre field to let your mind and soul join harmoniously with nature. A nightly campfire and making s’mores should be part of your Camp Hope experience!

The location was absolutely perfect! Owners were extremely attentive to our every question and need. Location was quiet, comfortable, and quite quiet. A great place to get away from it all. We will be back in 2026. Thank you!
We live nearby and had family visit, and stay at Camp Hope. They loved it so much that they booked a week for next year's visit. Communication was very prompt and the camp was perfect. It was well stocked and attention had been given to the details. There are accommodation's for all types of weather from the cozy indoor living area, to the screened in porch, and outdoor picnic table with fire pit. The decor is perfect and gave the finishing touches to a summer stay, at a cabin on the lake. Our family enjoy's fishing and utilized the dock for catching a variety of fish. Thank you so much for hosting our family and sharing your lovely space!

Wonderful Maine Experience!
We just returned from Camp Hope and we want to turn right around and go back! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a quiet location, well stocked with kitchen utensils/supplies, and the cabin itself is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The owner was responsive in answering our questions and I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative. The cabin and area is as described. We enjoyed the loons and other sights and sounds that can only be discovered when off the beaten path. We did, of course, encounter mosquitos, but were prepared with bug spray....much to their chagrin!

Thank you sooo much for your review. Sounds like you would return in the future and that is what we love. We love our camp and cannot wait to go there in Sept.... so glad you enjoyed yourself and your time away from reality even if it's just for a lttle while.... Stay safe and well, Joyce
We were surprised to find sheets and towels on the line in the rain. Then found the washer was full with more. WiFi was unreliable as it kept going out. Only place to sit and eat a meal together was on the porch or outside.

My apologies that the linens were left on the line and in the wash, I will discuss this with our cleaning lady. Wifi in the middle of the woods, at times, can be an issue and very weather dependent. Meals and gathering on the porch has always been a favorite for most, I’m sorry you did not experience the same enjoyment.
Stayed at Camp Hope for 3 nights, The camp is small but very clean and Homey, with a very nice screened-in porch that looks over a large manicured lawn and the lake. There is a very large fire pit and they supply the wood, unfortunately, it rained the whole time and temps were only in the 40s while we were there so we spent our time inside reading. The only heat is electric space heaters which did a fine job of warming the camp. There is a washer but no dryer just a clothesline, which isn't optimum when it rains continuously, but it was fine for the few days we were there. It is very private and quiet, the only sounds were the Loons, birds, and frogs, the perfect rainy retreat.
We really enjoyed our time at Camp Hope! We wanted a vacation with peacefulness and seclusion and we got it. We didn't do the fishing that we thought we would but we were so busy with seeing the area and eating out for seafood dinners that we just felt we didn't need to fish. Sitting on the screened in porch was peace enough for both of us. You have a well-stocked property and we could have left half the stuff we brought at home! There was wash on the line again when we got there, mostly sheets and towels. I'm not really great at folding bottom sheets so I'm sure they were not folded up to your standard! We had one night when the electric went out for about 2 hours and after determining it wasn't just us we found out it was a lady who crashed into a electrical pole. I was quite impressed that utility company got it fixed so quickly. But we certainly got to see how dark it really was up there in the middle of the Maine Countryside when no one has lights on ! We also, after driving 900 miles to get there, apparently drove in the driveway and got a stone stuck in our tire! What are the chances of that? Anyway we had to spend the next day getting it fixed and looking for some tires. Other than that it was a simply fantastic trip! Thank you so much for making your place available to us!

Beautiful house, fully equipped and beautiful location.
We had a great time at Camp Hope. Beautiful located and fully equipped. Too bad the lake is not really accessible from the property and location is quite remote from main attractions like Portland, beaches, Acadia. But the house and property make up for it!
We had a relaxing stay. The communication was great! Felt just like home. There was no toy box as listed though. That was sad! We'd love to return sometime!! Thank you!!
My husband and I stayed here so we could attend my class reunion in Belfast. It is in a great location for exploring both the coast and the back country. The camp is well cared for and the decor is adorable. We spent most of our free time enjoying the large screened in porch. As the listing states, it is not a swimming beach. This side of the pond is extremely weedy. We were able to launch our kayaks though and my husband did both some fly and lure fishing. There is a charcoal grill.
We had a wonderful time at Camp Hope!! My husband and I wanted to sneak off for a weekend alone for a little peace and quiet and it was the perfect spot to do so. The camp was cozy, peaceful and felt like home, just what we were looking for! Waking up with a cup of coffee, book and the nothing but the sound of happy birds while rocking in the sun on the screen porch was a dream come true and just what this momma needed ;-) The view was beautiful and we had everything we needed right there, it was a wonderful weekend! However I believe the descriptions of the sleeping arrangements may be a bit off, it is listed as having a queen sized bed in the loft but I believe it to be a full, the queen may be the pullout in the living room? Either way we made due and would definitely stay again, maybe next time with the kiddos. Thanks Campe Hope!
We had such a great time at Camp Hope. The firepit is awesome and the view is beautiful. The rooms are cozy and we played cards on the porch. Great time. Hopefully we will be able to visit again in the future. Thank you. 😊
Super clean and well stocked, enjoyed our stay and hope to be back in the future!

Great cabin in the woods; lake access is a challenge
The cabin is very well maintained. Rustic, but extremely comfortable and impeccably kept. There is a great bedroom for one couple and an open loft (so not much privacy). The fire pit is awesome! The issue for us was the lack of water access and view. We love to fish, float, and kayak. You are not able to do that from the shore of the cabin as it is very mucky and weedy. There is no dock or beach. I highly recommend the cabin if you want woods and privacy for two. If you are hoping to enjoy the water and lake views, you may be disappointed.
The DVD player does not work.
The golf course is closed.
There are two full beds (no queen).

Beautiful quiet spot
My family loved staying here! It was beautiful! We did not give it 5 stars because there was no internet (as advertised) and no cell reception (not advertised). We also found the pond area to be really hard to get too and not very safe for our kids. These details were missing which is why we rated at 4 stars. Other than that it was a great vacation!

Great place!
We had a great stay at Camp Hope. All the essentials like towels, blankets, cooking supplies etc. were provided. Cabin was clean and secluded, just perfect! My children were a little bummed that there was no WiFi 😂 but by the end of our stay they didn’t want to leave. They loved watching the wildlife, catching frogs and playing in the water. Camp Hope is definitely a place we would stay at again in the future.

Quaint, well-equipped cabin in a peaceful location
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Camp Hope, and our daughters enjoyed fishing in the lake. The screened porch was a peaceful place to sit in the evening, and the cabin was equipped and furnished with anything necessary. The owner was extremely helpful with our stay, and I would highly recommend!

Hope Camp - what a beautiful spot!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed are week stay at Hope Camp. The camp is equipped with all the conviences of home. It is very private and we thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife - deer, numerious bird sightings (No turkeys though). The nightly fire fly displays were spectacular as we sat around the camp fire pit. Very quiet and private. Hope to visit again.

Jenny & Jevon "A Perfect Place to Unwind"
My wife and I stayed at Camp Hope over the fourth of July holiday. The listing description was completely accurate. When we arrived, the property and cabin were exactly as we had imagined. Prior to our trip, we had quite a few questions, which Joyce, the owner, answered promptly. The cabin is set back from the lake on a large secluded lot. There are neighbors, but their property cannot be seen. During the day we spent our time swimming. Although there is no beach, a short walk through the reeds brings you to open water (which my nine month pregnant wife had no trouble navigating). In the mornings and evenings, we enjoyed the spacious screened in porch, listening to the bull frogs, loons, and even had a deer passed by without noticing us. We had a wonderful time at camp hope and would definitely recommend it as a perfect place to unwind to family and friends.

One of the Best Deals in Maine!
I LOVED my experience at Camp Hope! The cabin is exceptionally clean and it's actually quite spacious inside. All linens, as well as kitchen supplies/utensils, were provided and having a washing machine onsite was an added bonus. The property is surrounded by pine woods and is consequently very quiet (we didn't even realize we had neighbors for the first three days!). Although the lake (which can be clearly viewed from the cabin and which makes this a SPECTACULAR place for stargazing) is not ideal for swimming, it is wonderful for paddling/fishing and the wildlife love it! Deer, frogs, blue jays, a great blue heron, an owl, and even a porcupine were regular visitors. I was looking forward to falling asleep to the cries of loons but there were none to be seen or heard from on this trip....maybe next year! Using verizon wireless, I had ample signal for voice calls though data transmission was spotty--3G seems difficult to find outside of Maine's larger communities. As it turns out, however, lacking the internet for a few days can be good for the soul. You will love Camp Hope - I guarantee it!
