About this property
Luxury Home with Detached Casita & Stunning Panoramic Views of the Mountains.
Casa Tierra is an architectural gem set on 5-plus acres in the rolling foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with breathtaking 300-degree views of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez mountain ranges. Easy access to downtown Santa Fe shops, restaurants and galleries. Nestled in the beautiful hills outside of Tesuque, Casa Tierra is the perfect place for family gatherings and extended stays in the Santa Fe area. Pet friendly and perfect for mid-term and long-term stays. (Happy to work with Insurance for temporary housing needs.)
This spacious 3,212 sf home with 133 sf casita will amaze you from the moment you walk through the double doors and into the lofted plaster and stone entryway. Designed in a unique V-shape to take advantage of the panoramic views, and laid out with mathematical precision––the home boasts soaring wood-trussed ceilings, amazing light via numerous strategically-placed skylights, a massive fireplace with custom copper enclosure, and an open multi-level floor plan.
Casa Tierra's open living areas invite you to slow down and savor every beautiful moment. While-away the afternoon on the leather chaise with a book and million-dollar views, hunker down for a nap in the comfortable study with wood-burning kiva fireplace, or cozy-up on the huge sectional for movie night. This is what vacations are all about.
The large chef’s kitchen features KitchenAid, Bosch and Wolf appliances, copper sink, reverse osmosis filtered drinking water, a full assortment of kitchen cookware and utensils, leathered granite countertops, and a bar with seating for four. The adjacent dining area includes a 9-foot dining table with seating for 8, and is framed by a row of windows displaying 100-mile daytime desert views, and the twinkling city lights of Pojoaque at night––just 8 miles to the north.
The master bedroom is a natural oasis, with lofted wood ceilings, a linen-covered king bed, artful decorations, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with walk-in marble shower, and eye-popping views of Northern New Mexico through two massive wood-framed sliding glass doors and transom windows.
At the other end of the main house and down a gorgeous glass-encased hallway is a second bedroom with two queen beds, lofted wood ceilings, a sitting porch, and a recently remodeled ensuite bathroom with soaking tub and walk-in shower.
The study serves as an optional 3rd bedroom and includes a fold-out couch with full-size bed, built-in desk, and kiva––and opens to a spacious wisteria-covered patio.
The adjacent casita is a peaceful enclave––with wood-framed sliding glass doors on three sides, incredible views of the mountain scenery, a queen bed, and a compact but charming ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower.
Outdoor areas are the star of the show at Casa Tierra, with patios, sidewalks and planters lining the sides of the modern V-shaped home. A large flagstone patio at the tip of the “V” is surrounded by mature aspen trees and shrubbery, with modern patio furniture and a Weber Professional charcoal grill. The west side of the house includes an elevated covered patio, with dining table and seating for 6, and connects to the patio just outside the master suite.
The home features radiant floor and baseboard heat, and mini-split A/C units throughout for cooling during the late summer months.
Note: Per County Short Term Rental Ordinance, we are currently limited to 8 adults occupancy, but children 5 and under are not counted against the total. Per bed count, the house sleeps 10.
Other features of this magnificent home include:
- Hi-speed internet with the latest Eero wi-fi boosters
- Radiant floor, baseboard heat and mini-split A/C's throughout the home

About the host
Hosted by Buck McKinney

We are a family of five from Austin, Texas that loves travel and spending quality time together. Buck is an entertainment lawyer by day and musician by night. Sarah is in high tech, and our three girls are all school age, and heavily into sports. When we aren't working, traveling, or playing and seeing music, we are usually on the soccer field!
Why they chose this property
Santa Fe has been a special place for our family for years. Buck's folks lived on Palace Avenue in the 80's - just a block from Canyon Road and the art galleries, and Buck clerked with a Santa Fe firm during law school. The City and area have so much to offer––from the culture, museums and food to the amazing outdoors, for skiing, hiking, rafting and enjoying the hi desert weather. It has been our dream to own a home in Santa Fe, and we love being able to share it with others.
What makes this property unique
The views will take your breath away, and the architecture is indescribably beautiful. We knew the minute we walked in that we would spend many of our happiest vacations here, and feel so fortunate to be able to share that with others!
