We came to Costa for the Nicaragua border run. Facility was excellent! View with infinity pool was outstanding !! Other condo residents were soooo helpful and friendly. Area very easy to get around and beaches are all close and were very clean. Lots of shops and restaurants in area too. Many things to do. EXCELLENT PLACE

Great Guanacaste getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the condo. It was very comfortable and well equipped. The view is awesome and we made use of the pool every day. Very nicely located, a very short drive to the lovely Ocotal beach and close to Coco for shopping and restaurants. The owners were great to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions we had. Would definitely stay there again!

Good people, condo a little rough

We enjoyed our stay in Costa Rica. Unfortunately the condo needs some TLC and cleaning. The internet was sporadic and irritating. Steve and Tito were VERY helpful and we greatly appreciate their cooperation. If we had known about the issues we encountered, we would not have stayed. However, the issues can be overcome with a little attention to the property and upgrade/maintenance of the internet connection.

Idyllic winter getaway!

An excellent central location from which to explore day trips to National Parks (Rincon, Santa Rosa, Guanacaste, etc.) and different towns of interest - Tamarindo & Coco for shopping, Guaitil for pottery, Hermosa for beaches, etc. We even took a day trip to Grenada, Nicaragua and thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend this tour with Swiss Travel. The accommodation was clean and perfect for our purposes - excellent beds, air conditioning, fully-equipped kitchen, wonderful infinity pool and fabulous panorama of mountain range. It was a thrill so see so many colourful birds and enjoy the howler monkeys. The nearby towns of Coco & Ocotal had a plethora of restaurants to choose from, our favourites being "Papagallo" & "Tica Thai" in Coco and "Father Rooster" on Ocotal Beach. For a really special dinner, try "Gingers" at Playa Hermosa. We will definitely return next year, the only difference will be to stay for a longer period of time. Even though we were out exploring every day, there are still so many more areas of interest. It's a fabulous spot to just relax and enjoy the view or branch out to different areas. It's not possible to get bored here!

Lovely Costa Rica Vacation

My wife and I stayed for 1 week at the condo in January 2011. We had a great time. The mountain views were spectacular. The condo itself was spacious, clean, and well stocked with all the equipment we needed for cooking. The bed was comfortable (it felt like staying in a hotel), and the internet access was reliable. The pool was refreshing; we spent many of our afternoons just lounging and swimming. The days were hot (30 degrees plus) and humid, but because we were high on the side of the mountain, the evenings were comfortable. Playa Del Coco is a nice little town with plenty of restaurants and a couple of nice grocery stores if you prefer to cook at home. The beach is lovely and long. Many local fishing boats are anchored in the bay which adds to the charm. It’s a bit of a walk to the beach (approx. ½ hour) from the Condo; we mostly drove, but several others in the complex walked regularly. It all depends on your tolerance for heat. The beach at Ocotal is closer but smaller, and there are only a couple of restaurants. We enjoyed sitting at Father Roosters, sipping on cool drinks while staring out at the ocean. All in all it was a lovely trip, and we highly recommend it

Amazing stay

Villas Colinas is a beautiful place to stay with amazing views into nature. You will feel very comfortable because the apartment has everything you are looking for in a rental. The staff, in particular the property manager "Tito" is a gem and at your services anytime you need his assistance. Easy access into town and a mere 3 minute drive to the beautiful beach of Ocotal!

Fourth time back to this condo and love it!!

We love it here and keep returning! The condo is very well appointed and has all the amenities from new washer & dryer and A/C unit this year. We have already booked for next year and look forward to the renovated kitchen (being done in May 2018). The patio and infiniti pool with the mountain view is spectacular. Great restaurants near by. The onsite management is terrific and always responds to requests no matter how small. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to see Costa Rica. Cathleen

Don't be fooled by the pictures, as I was!!

This unit is sad, tired and worn out. Water and electrical services in this area are unreliable as consistent infrastructure just doesn't exist this far out from the main town of Coco. Water is a scarce commodity and so during the dry season (Nov. - April) the grounds are not watered and the grass turns brown and dry. There are many for sale signs around the complex and several abandoned buildings and developments nearby, just left empty due to the lack of services and/or speculation. This unit is at the end of the road up a very steep hill so not good for anyone with physical disabilities and you need some form of transportation since it is 'out of the way' and too far to walk to the beach or to any stores. The 'Infinity' function of the pool is not working, again likely due to the scarce water supply. Over our month long stay we removed 4 scorpions from the master bedroom, 2 which were 5 inches long. There were plans to fumigate inside once we left but I'd be skeptical of that helping since they did fumigate outside the unit and they still showed up. The inside requires major renos and I was told that was 'in the works' but I'd insist on current pictures if you are considering renting this unit. It has a dishwasher but it doesn't work, the fridge makes loud noises and has an ice maker, but it doesn't work. The cupboards are up so high you need a ladder to reach them. The washing machine makes strange noises and the controls don't work. When placed on a cold wash, you get very hot water and there's only 1 level of water available and that's a full tub. The couch/sofa is lumpy and saggy and there are no English TV channels as the streaming box/service is not working. This unit may have been nice back in the day but not now. We stayed the month of March 2018. The pictures shown and this unit need a major upgrade!!! I fully realize Costa Rica is a '3rd world county' and so we cannot expect the same '1st world' services and that's part of the experience, but when a unit is presented and described as fully functioning in the lush green tropics then I feel that's a misrepresentation of the actual reality.

Manque de propreté à plein d'égards

nous séjournions à playa ocotal où la plage est sale comme tous les abords de route ainsi qu'à l'intérieur du Condominium dans la partie basse (poubelles en sac ramassées mais détritus par terre laissés en l'état),plage de playa coco à 3 kms dans un état similaire ,quant-à cette soit disant "station touristique" elle se limite à 1 seule rue dont les trottoirs sont soit inexistants soit totalement défoncés;le coût d'une location de voiture est exhorbitant ,par contre les taxis sont très bon marché par rapport au coût de la vie;des incendies quasiment quotidiens avaient lieu dans la périphérie du condominium par négligence des costaricains qui par contre sont un peuple adorable,souriant et prêt à rendre service ,c'est ce dernier point qui nous a séduit dans ce voyage: le contact humain L'appartement se situant en rez- de -chaussée nous avons trouvé 7 scorpions (non venimeux paraît-il) à l'intérieur sinon il était conforme à la description, des travaux prévus pour ce printemps au niveau de la cuisine le rendront encore plus agréable; cet appartement en particulier se trouvant dans la partie haute du condo est calme et dispose de la piscine la plus agréable du complexe. pour finir nous dirons que le propriétaire :Mr Latanville ,malgré son éloignement est toujours à l'écoute et prêt à faire intervenir quelqu'un pour notre confort

Outstanding condo and a great location!

We loved our stay at the condo! It was one of the best vacations we have ever had due in part to staying at the condo! The condo is beautiful on the inside and has everything you need! We were impressed at how clean it was and that everything was provided. There is a washer/dryer that we were grateful to have. The views are spectacular and at night the sky was lit up with stars! There is a wonderful infinity pool (which we used a lot!) but it is only a short walk to Ocotal Beach. It is also only a short drive to Hermosa Beach and Coco Beach is right at the edge of town. Robert is the condo manager and was so helpful while we were there. A couple of days before we left we were on our way back from Ocotal Beach and we saw a momma monkey with her baby in the tree! One of the highlights of our trip!

Costa Rica Tranquility

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Since we were there during low season (rainy season) we almost had the place to ourselves. Tito (the property manager) was great...helped us with airport transfers, provided a number we could text him with any questions and was on time for both arrival and departure. The condo was in good condition and all amenities were as advertised (no issues whatsoever). The pool was warm and kept clean daily and the views at the time of year were beautiful, plush a green. We did get some rain everyday but it did not interfere with our stay one bit...swam every morning, afternoon and evening and enjoyed the evening thunderstorm with light show one night. Please keep in mind that this unit is at the top of a large hill and 2 - 3 kilometres from Playa Del Coco where the stores and restaurants are located. We rented a gas powered golf cart for the week and enjoyed having the freedom to come and go as we pleased. We would recommend this property to anyone interested with the above noted comments.

Gorgeous Place, Hospitality & the Beach is a 10 min. Walk

The owners of the condo are wonderful and were immediately responsive every time we had a question or concern. Even when we had a light out in the bathroom, the on site manager handled it the same day. The people on the Villa la Colina plot are all joyful and the pura vida is alive here! Not to mention a group of monkeys visiting the neighboring forest of jungle right up against the property daily. Watching the storm roll in and roll out was a highlight and having an eternity pool with a gorgeous view was a highlight. You will feel safe as they have a guard at both levels of the property day and night. The wifi was excellent and only cut out once in a whole month. Steven and Michael's condo is very well equipped. We cooked a lot of fresh fish and veggies from the awesome fruit stand in town. Just a short hike to the beach and an $8 round trip taxi to Coco beach the town for groceries and much of your needs met including ATM and particulars. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to get away and sink in while recharging in the gorgeous lands of pura vida! We will be back!

You will love it!

Beautiful and quiet, kept up place with breathtaking views! 24 hour security. My kids love the infinity pool, they started and ended the day with the pool. I was looking for something under a $100 and with a great view and a nice pool and I got it! Hermosa Beach is only 10-15 min away and is the nicest beach around. At Playa del Coco we did Marlin del Rey catamaran tour which was $85 pp for a 5 hour tour, totally worth it. Also we went to El Viejo Wetlands by ourselves (it's cheaper this way), had a Tempisque river boat tour with a nice lunch and wine at their beautiful restaurant. Try gelato at Playa del Coco, it's soooo good! also, Flamingo Beach is a must see!

Beautiful property!

We loved the the condo, the pool, and the security was wonderful. The only draw back was the property manager Roberto was awful. He didn't seem welcoming. He was making comments that made us uncomfortable. And when we asked for another key so we could split up into groups he admitted that while we were asleep he tried to unlock the door with another set of keys. We were unhappy that he practically tried to come into our house without permission. Also, while we were trying to receive the extra key that he offered when we arrived he said in an email that he'd meet me the following day at noon and then never showed up. And after that he ignored my emails for 4 days. Although there were a few problems the vacation was wonderful, we loved Costa Rica, and would recommend the property to anyone. Thank you.

Wonderful!

We enjoyed our stay at Steven's condo very much! We were greeted by Robert (Tito) warmly and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout our week there. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and quaint, and the view was absolutely breathtaking! The photos are true-to-life. We had a little trouble finding it, so be sure to have a contact number handy, especially if arriving after dark. (No street names in CR and a few detours for bridge/road closures.) My wife and I spent the month of April 2016 in this condo. Absolutely everything was as good or better than advertised. Perfect size for a couple or a family of four. The unit is equipped with everything we could possibly need or want. The condo sits at the top of the complex with great views of the valley below. Because its higher on the hill and open all around you get some nice breezes to keep things cooler. It's a ground floor unit, so open the patio door and 10 steps later your in the infinity pool or under the gazebo. Loved the birds and monkeys. Every 6-7 days a troop of howler monkeys came by and hung out for a couple of days right behind the gazebo and cleaned off the new growth on the trees. And if you like parrots, pairs and flocks of small green parrots flew by mornings and evenings. The weather was in the 90s so we didn't do much walking but if you're so inclined it's about a 10-15 min walk over to Ocotal beach or into town. Will not hesitate to stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica.

A Home Away From Home

My wife and I returned to Costa Rica to travel throughout the northern and central parts of the country. Steven's condo became our home away from home. We stayed for over 2 months and enjoyed every day. The unit is comfortable and extremely well equipped. It's location provides stunning views out over the infinity pool that you never tire of. Jorge not only did an amazing job of taking care of the condo's grounds and the pool, but he became a personal friend. We will miss him until we return. The hill up to the condo's parking lot is steep but we used it daily in our walks to keep ourselves in shape. There are a number of great restaurants in the Coco/Ocotal area but don't miss the Garden 248 Gastro Pub, a new restaurant in Playa del Coco, it's great. From this condo's location there is always something to do from visiting the numerous beaches in the area, snorkeling, standup paddle boarding, surfing or just watching a great sunset. Venture out to watch a local rodeo, visit the monkey farm or to the Blue River to do some white water tubing and some zip lining. Visit Guaiitil for true native pottery or drive to Ostional for some turtle watching. Great location and a great owner. Steven was fantastic to work with. Without a doubt we'll be back.

Fantastic rental in Coco/Ocotal area

We stayed for 8 days. It is an amazing 2 bedroom rental. Beautiful scenery right from your apartment with the pool mingling to the mountains around. 3 min drive to Ocotal beach and 7 min drive to Coco beach. Many other beautiful beaches close-by. The maintenance of the complex is great: they clean the pool everyday, there is a guard at night every day. Steven is great to work with and so is the person on site- Tito. Everything they say was done and delivered as promised. You can believe the pictures you see this is exactly how the apartment and the complex look like. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a nice, calm stay in northern Guanacaste beach area.

Love this property! Very comfortable and well-appointed condo. Fabulous view and constant breeze. Lots of places to go for walks and bird watch. Walking distance to three beaches if you are in good shape to do a few hills. I particularly enjoyed walking through the villages and into the back hills - very peaceful and safe. Close proximity to many other beaches and particularly liked Bueno Beach, right beside Papagayo Beach Hotel. Favourite restaurants are Le Coq, Ocotal Hotel & Father Rooster. A car is necessary to reach other towns & National Parks, as well as doing grocery shopping.

Ocotal and surrounding area have beautiful views, a multitude of beaches and plenty of hiking. Close to Liberia, it's an easy drive from the International Airport with a fantastic coffee factory enroute. A short 10-15 minute walk to Playa Ocotal - one of the cleanest beaches in the country - rated 'blue-flag'. A short distance to Playas Del Coco for great seafood dining, shopping and strolling along the beach. Bicycle rentals are available in town and for those gym enthusiasts, there are 2 gyms in town (daily rates range $5-6).

We have great internet and cable with many channels. In addition, we supply a DVD player with several movies to choose from.

A short drive into Playas Del Coco and you'll enjoy fresh seafood every night along with some entertaining night life. A fish market is enroute to our unit as is a great outdoor fruit and vegetable market located next to the school in town.

Amenities include 4 grocery stores, pharmacies and many tourist boutiques. And of course, who could resist watching the spectacular sunsets at one of the great beach bars located along the brand new promenade.
