We had a fantastic time at the cottage. Everything was clean and comfortable and our kids had a blast. We were walking distance to the beach, food and shopping which was wonderful. Communication with the hosts was top notch as well. We would absolutely stay again!
The cabin is older and rustic, but has everything you need as far a accommodations. Good location within a short walking distance of restaurants and shops in Ephraim. We found it to be nice and quiet.
Cozy cabin perfect for family in beaucoup location!
Thank you to the hosts for providing the perfect walkable retreat! Access to the cabin was easy, and accommodations were thought-out and comfortable. Cabin was cozy but had just enough space for our family of four. Three seasons porch was lovely extra breathing room. Clean, appointed, and best of all in a top-notch location!
This cottage was perfect for our family of four. In walking distance to the Ephraim beach, Wilson’s, and The Old Post Office as well as being central for a short drive to all the adorable Door County towns. Cabin was very clean and well maintained. Amenities were plentiful: stocked kitchen, full refrigerator, stove/oven, screened patio, fire pit, grill, exceptionally clean bathroom and shower, and more. Management was quick to respond to questions and instructions were clear and consistent.
This cabin was perfect for our Door County girlfriends' getaway. It was an easy walk to Ephraim activities like sunset viewing and restaurants. Yet, it was located in a wooded area, was quiet, and had both an outdoor fire pit area for lounging and a deck area with table and chairs for morning coffee. The owners were extremely responsive to any questions we had. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great little cabin with a screened in porch area. It was in the 50’s when we were there and the little heater worked VERY well. 5 out of 5 besides the smell of cigarette smoke when we first walked in. Super easy to communicate with the host and she replied quickly. Nice fire pit outside for nightly fires and this cabin is walking distance to town. Highly recommend!

So glad that you enjoyed the cabin and your visit! We appreciate your tidiness and that you cleaned out the ashes from the firepit. Apologies that there was an odor. Our log cabins are strictly no-smoking so hopefully this will never be an issue in the future. We would love to have you visit again!
It was a good location. Close to the lake and walking distance to many places in Ephraim. We did see a lot of deer while sitting outside. The kitchen is really well stocked. It was clean but It did have a strong smoker's smell and some what of a musty smell. There was a lot of rain during our stay so maybe the reason for the musty smell.
We’ve stayed in 2 of the 3 cottages on this property and loved both of them. Very clean, very comfortable and private. They have a deep woods feel but a block from the hustle. The owners make themselves very available if needed. We’ve been in #1 and 3 and hope to stay in 2 next year for the grand slam. Highly recommend this place but wouldn’t want to miss our chance at it.
The property is lovely and in a great location in a wooded area down the street from the water. The cottage was lovely, clean, and very charming. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. The cottage is small for a larger family, but for our four person family it was a lovely base for our trip.
There is a gas stove, fireplace, fire pit, charcoal grill, covered driveway, outdoor patio, fans, wall AC, dehumidifiers, and a beautiful sunroom.
The cottage is on a slight tilt which is noticeable in the kitchen, but it was not a meaningful issue for us. The land is separate, but adjacent to another property, but the layout of the outside keeps you feeling secluded. There is no fence around the property.
Overall I would highly recommend this accommodation for a quite getaway to Door County.
Had a frustrating time finding the driveway in a downpour of rain (written directions would have been helpful), and you can't tell from the map how to get there. But we eventually found it tucked away at the far end of a driveway. The covered carport turned out to be invaluable as it rained heavy all 4 days! (Thank God the roof doesn't leak!) Cute, clean, basic, cabin, nothing fancy, good value, take very quick showers! Overall good experience and happy with the rental. I would recommend that renters bring your own TP (or an upgrade would be nice) - unless you like cheap, single-ply, tissue paper quality TP - we didn't. Thanks.

About the host
Hosted by Alison or Jerri
Hi, my name is Alison and I am a 6th generation descendant of one of the original settlers in Ephraim, Ole Larsen, who came over from Norway in the 1850s. I spent every summer of my childhood in Ephraim and have always held these memories close. I moved to Door County permanently in 2010 with my husband and we each now own our own small business in the area. We also have a young son and old dog to keep us busy. My brother and I purchased the Northwind Cottages as a means to protect the area from further development and keep some of the area's rural charm intact. We are excited to share our love of Door County and Ephraim with our guests and are happy that other families can build traditions like our own. My husband Simon & I are here to help you have a fantastic, smooth and peaceful vacation.
Why they chose this property
We love Northwind Cottage #3 because it is very similar to our great grandfather's nearby log cabin where we spent our childhood. The cottage has rustic charm and is located in the woods yet close to all of the activities Door County has to offer. Delicious food & drink, parks, free music, boat rentals, the beach and amazing sunsets are all within walking distance. This lovely Ephraim vacation cabin will provide a sense of tranquility and leave you feeling refreshed!
What makes this property unique
There's nothing like curling up in a log cabin playing games next to a roaring fire or having an evening meal outside listening to the sounds of nature. At our cottages you can take a step back and relax into a simpler life but when you're ready for some action or adventure, you will be close to all that Northern Door County has to offer.
