Oceanfront Getaway Bliss. 20 min from Seattle. Feel worlds from it all. Wake + fall asleep to the sound of the waves from your memory foam bed. Let baby seal greetings delight you, the retreat’s intentionally curated design refresh you or Sunrise+Sunset over the Sound take your breath away from your spot at the dining table, sofa, kitchen (w/coffee, tea+anything needed for a delicious meal), outdoor gas FIREPIT, fire table, GRILL or inflatable HOT TUB. At high+low tide, you’ll be rejuvenated.

The property has beautiful 180 degree unobstructed views of the ocean, beach, marina, Vashon Island, Maury Island and Olympic Mountains from the entire front of the inside of the house, yard, patio and hot tub.

A max. of 8 People Total are permitted to be on the property at any given time. Thank you for honoring the max.# and understanding any more than 8 people being on the property will result in immediate termination of the reservation without refund.

The home is set in a tranquil setting that feels removed from it all and is accessed via a lovely path/steps (as photographed) exclusively. It is a 2-5 min walk (depending on guest) with stairs of varying levelness. As such, please wear appropriate shoes and plan accordingly. Upon booking, we send out a link in which, with sufficient advance notice, we will be happy to fill the fridge with items you select to greet you for your stay.

Donations: We care about the ocean + love sharing the beautiful Puget Sound with our guests! For every visit, we’re pleased to donate a % to nonprofits protecting our oceans (Oceana) + housing young girls (The Agape House).

Design: The elevated beach house getaway is designed and curated by DMD Co-Owner Sara, Chief Designer of Rapha Designs, with the intent of creating a feeling of being truly welcomed and promoting a sense of holistic rest, comfort and refreshing.

Beach Access: Please note: In order to respect our beloved neighbors and the state ordinance, *please only walk in front of our home and in the direction of pier* (about 400 feet of beach).

House Access: The home is set in a tranquil setting and accessed via an almost entirely bistro lit path/steps (as photographed) exclusively.

We had an incredible time at the house. It is beautifully decorated and the views cannot be beat (so many seals hanging out in the water!). There are helpful labels and videos that show how things work, and we made good use of the provided tide chart for beach combing. The hosts are super communicative and helpful. We wanted a Thanksgiving getaway where we could decompress and spend time together as a family, and this was definitely the best place to do that!

Amazing View

Cute rental and well stocked. I had a few random questions at check in and response was immediate from host. Beautiful views. The climb up and down the stairs to the rental would be hard with a small child or older parent but well worth it if you’re in the middle.

Awesome Location!

The wife and I stayed here for our 10yr anniversary. What an awesome place! So close to everything. We really enjoyed our time there. We cooked a bunch of seafood from Pikes Market and enjoyed the view!! House was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Walking the beach was nice! Host responds immediately. Would absolutely visit this place again, it was perfect!

Sound Choice

This was our second time staying at the Diamond. The location is incredible right on the tidal beach area of the Puget Sound. Short 20 minute drive to downtown Seattle. My wife fell in love with the neighborhood Bald Eagles, and the Seals were playing in the water throughout our entire stay. The Hosts made everything easy. I will consider staying here again in the future for sure.

This getaway was exactly what we needed - right on the water, private and so comfortable. The digital concierge was so cool - great recommendations for food, videos of how to use amenities i the house and communicating with the hosts. Sara and Kellon went above and beyond making this a special weekend for my husband and I. We chose to have our groceries delivered to them and they stocked the fridge before we arrived which was so appreciated. We would stay here again!

Beautiful views

This property has sprawling views from the Olympic Mountains to the twinkling lights of Tacoma. My family enjoyed watching the wildlife, the boats, and the ever-changing tide of the sound. My children loved going out skipping rocks at low tide. This property was a very quiet and peaceful place to say, yet it was in great proximity to the airport and a quick drive to downtown Seattle. The property management team was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay.

Our Diamond-Level Experience

We stayed at the Des Moines Diamond over Thanksgiving with our four children, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The home was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, making our stay seamless and comfortable. The views of the water and sunsets were breathtaking, and the private beach access was a highlight of our trip. We spent hours exploring the beach, shell hunting, and marveling at the tiny crabs our kids found—it was like having our own slice of coastal paradise. The home itself was luxurious and cozy. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen, combined with the outdoor grill, allowed us to prepare a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. Even the steep, winding stairs leading down to the home added a unique and enchanting element to the experience. Our younger kids enjoyed watching the sunset from the warmth of the hot tub, too! The hosts, Sara and Kellon, were amazing—responsive, helpful, and thoughtful throughout our stay. The location offered the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience, with quick access to restaurants, grocery stores, and downtown Seattle. We can’t recommend the Des Moines Diamond enough. It was the relaxing, beautiful getaway we were craving, and we would absolutely stay here again. Thank you, Sara and Kellon, for sharing this incredible space with us! 🌊✨

Beautiful but.....

I really wanted to give this property a 5 star review, but there were some key things that were left out from the description that I really believe should be addressed, especially for the price it was listed. What isn't said, and absolutely needs to be known prior to booking, is that it is a TREK to get down to the actual location. The stairs there are not friendly, and vary in shapes and sizes. The bride to be of our party, actual fell down those when she arrived at the property (and yes she was sober). Parking: it is limited to 2 spaces (which is SHARED with the rest of the neighborhood) which is ABOVE the property. We had 8 ladies with us, and most drove from out of town to get there. I spoke with the owners when I initially discovered the property, and asked about it, and they said we could park in the "neighborhood streets" which wasn't clear at all. When we were at the place I asked again, and they said we could use the Marina parking, which also was a trek to get back to the property. The SAVING GRACE was that, when the tide went out it was suuper easy to get to the Marina and back which was a walk along the beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but these key points really did impact our overall thoughts on the space.

We’re happy to hear Lauren enjoyed her stay at our beautiful low bank beachfront property. We pride ourselves and invest with such intentionality in doing our very best to ensure every guest has an amazing experience at DMD—whether that means decorating especially for the group like we did for Lauren’s or checking in advance of our guests stay to explain the parking (which yes, as described, does include additional available parking in the surrounding neighborhood streets), sharing about the property and seeing if there is anything Lauren or any of our guests need. With that in mind, we are quite surprised to hear Lauren’s group experienced trouble with the stairs and/or parking or were unaware of the nature of either because of the information we take care to provide and as she did not mention it during any of her communications with us or our team that is committed to being available 24/7. Further, in the last year—of 100s of visits, we have never heard before or after from friends, family, or guests (we’re honored to have received 100% 5 star reviews across the board prior) of anyone experiencing even a misstep on the stairs or any misconception about what they would experience when arriving. That said, if Lauren had mentioned any trouble, we would have done all possible to resolve the issue for her with our highest standard of care. We’ve been told that the stairs built into the forested area backing the home and limited parking are a part of our unique beachfront property’s charm and we believe those elements are part of what makes the setting feel exclusive, private and remote despite it being situated within minutes of the city. Because we truly care about our guests experience and want them to be equipped with all the information needed to make their decision, we do our best to provide any and all critical details. That information includes several photos of the stairs with descriptions of what to expect, mentioning that the lot at the top of the stairs/hill can accommodate a max. of 2 guest cars in our description and asking that all guests, including Lauren’s group, confirm prior to booking (the day of booking/far in advance of our cancellation policy) that they have read our rules which explain the nature of the path/stairs in detail as well as the parking. We will continue doing everything we can to ensure our guests have all information possible throughout the process of booking through their stay. We’re so appreciative of every guest we’ve had the honor of hosting for something as special as a getaway! And we look forward to serving more guests at The Des Moines Diamond, in the future!
