Athens is home to this holiday home. Athens Institute for Contemporary Art and Taylor-Grady House are cultural highlights, and travellers looking to shop may want to visit Farmers Market and Georgia Square Mall. Upon arriving to the property. I found the trash bin over flowing and the yard needed cutting. Once inside the house there was a musty odor. I found some disinfectant spray and sprayed all the hard surfaces just to make it house bearable. There were no wash cloths to be found in either bathroom. There was no cookware to speak of let alone cooking utensils. There was a lack of basic spices such as salt and pepper. The owner wanted us to wash and fold the towels before we checked out. That took the better part of 2 hours, because the dryer does not have sufficient heat. This property is not worth the money I spent for a 2 night stay.
We wanted to visit family for Thanksgiving and found a nice place about a mile from my brother’s house, reasonably priced and very nice. The booking and communication was easy and everything was great!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pooh’s Corner. It feels like a quiet, rustic getaway cottage, but it is super close to downtown Athens and all of the activities the city has to offer. Literally the best of both worlds.
We would love to come back and if we ever need to stay in the Athens area again, we hopefully will!
Quiet, comfortable, and priced right. It is weird that owner asks that you wash and dry all towels before checking out. Even weirder that laundry duties aren’t communicated until the day before check in. We had read about it in other reviews and brought our own towels.
We enjoyed our stay at Pooh’s Corner. Tucked back in a wooded property we felt like we were in our own little hideaway. I understand why the deer love your property!
When we arrived I had to clear 20 - 25 spiders from the front porch in order to get in. Once we were in the place was neat and clean BUT had a musty oder like a damp cellar.

Paul- Thanks for letting us know post-visit. Those spiders are east asian joro spiders. They are everywhere (anyone in Athens will know about them) and absolutely harmless. Not sure how "20-25" came to be when there were zero 2 hours prior to your arrival. Regardless, our apologies. Our home is an older country home and it comes with some quirks despite the brand new furnishings. We appreciate you and your group and hope you enjoyed our lovely town. We will gladly welcome you back!
I recently stayed here with family. The house was as described, but it wasn’t as clean as I had hoped. I did bring this to the host’s attention and he notified the housekeeper. The housekeeper came the next morning and cleaned the home. We did leave because I have a small child and didn’t feel comfortable with the cleanliness of the home. However, I do appreciate the effort from the host to address my concerns.
The location and cleanliness were good. My only problem was with the clean-up directions. The owners wanted the towels washed, dried and put back by 11:00 am checkout. If I had been there a week I can understand. But, two nights … I spent my Sunday morning doing laundry or waiting for it . Too much to ask for a weekend visit.
I can see putting used laundry in washer but washing , drying and putting back , just too much to ask.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your time in our home with your family! Thank you for helping with the laundry and abiding by our request. It helps us prepare for the next guest in a timely manner and allows for those new guests to check in on time. We are happy to host again in the future.

The 2 king beds in VRBO description is misleading due to one of them is actually a daybed that folds out using two thin twin mattresses side by side. Location is good, but property needs some attention. Had to break off limbs on overgrown driveway to keep from scratching vehicles. The yard needed cutting esp if we had used the fire pit..would’ve been too afraid to walk through thick grass. The TV wasn’t working properly…signal kept going in and out. The owner requests you wash & dry towels before check out, which can be difficult to do when you’re trying to get showers and packing up to leave. Also, no laundry detergent was provided to do said task. And there were only towels, no washcloths.
