Historic Capitol Hill Estate on Millionaires' Row, Steps from Volunteer Park
A 110-year-old Capitol Hill estate on historic Millionaires' Row, originally built by the Skinner family — the same family behind the Space Needle and the Seattle Seahawks. Six bedrooms, six bathrooms (four private en-suites), old-growth woodwork, high ceilings, and rooms that feel earned rather than staged. Fully renovated while preserving the original architectural character that defines one of Seattle's most storied residential streets.
Volunteer Park — 48 acres of Olmsted-designed gardens, the Seattle Asian Art Museum, and the Volunteer Park Conservatory — is a 2-minute walk from the front door. Capitol Hill's dining and nightlife corridor is 15 minutes on foot. Two reserved off-street parking spots are included.
There is no other short-term rental in Seattle with this provenance. For groups who want a genuinely historic home with the feel of a private estate rather than a vacation rental, this is it.
THE HOME
Built in the 1910s and fully renovated, the home preserves its original architectural details — old-growth woodwork, high ceilings, and period character throughout — while delivering modern comfort and hotel-grade amenities. Six bedrooms across two floors, four with private en-suite bathrooms. The layout gives groups the flexibility to gather in the main floor living areas or retreat to private floors.
Main floor: Living room, kitchen, dining area, 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms
4 of 6 bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms. Bedrooms 3 and 6 each share one full bathroom on their respective floor — one bathroom per two guests at most when fully occupied. Stairs required throughout. 2 reserved off-street parking spots + free street parking on E Prospect and nearby streets.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Millionaires' Row on 13th Ave E is one of Seattle's most architecturally significant residential streets — historic estates, mature trees, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find this close to Capitol Hill. Volunteer Park is a 2-minute walk: the Seattle Asian Art Museum, the Conservatory's tropical plant collections, the water tower with panoramic views, and 48 acres of Olmsted-landscaped paths. The Harvard-Belmont Historic District surrounds the home. Broadway and the Pike-Pine dining corridor are 15 minutes on foot or a short bus ride.

We needed all six bedrooms, so it was great to have the space and bathrooms! The furnishings were nice and the place was comfortable. Host was very responsive and helpful. Parking from the back alley was challenging, but we persevered and made it work.
Had a holiday overnight with long time friends and made dinner for our adult children. The house was perfect for this, perfect for a few staying the night, lots of rooms and baths for privacy, great rooms to gather and a great kitchen for cooking. Parking was tight but there is lots of street parking in the area. Beds were comfortable. Host was very accommodating and quick with responses. We even forgot a few things and the host arranged for us to get them right away. Would book again for next year. The area is close to everything and lots of holiday lights around. This is a great house for groups or big families. Wonderful property and host.

What makes this property unique
This house is truly unique, nestled in the heart of Capitol Hill on what was once known as “Millionaires’ Row.” This historic area was home to shipyard, lumberyard, and real estate moguls. The house itself carries a rich legacy, having been built by the Skinner family—pioneers who were among the first owners of the Space Needle and the Seattle Seahawks. Originally constructed as a private residence for the Skinner family’s unmarried daughter, this home combines both history and charm, offering a one-of-a-kind stay in a truly remarkable location.
