This beautiful cottage has a gorgeous view and is in a perfect location to enjoy all that Santa Barbara has to offer. We will definitely try to stay there again next time we visit!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 1920’s Santa Barbara cottage. It is immaculate, charmingly furnished and decorated. Very comfortable and well equipped. The location is fabulous - close to beaches, State street restaurants and shopping, SB pier and the Funk Zone. Jen and Jax were wonderful hosts.
I actually did not stay here because the Host cancelled our reservation the day before we were supposed to check in. More specifically, she tried to push me to cancel the reservations so I'd have to eat the charges: this seems like fraud to me. She gave conflicting reasons for the cancellation, I assume at least one reason was a lie. This Host is not trustworthy. Also I am disappointed in VRBO for failing to properly vet the properties on its platform. I'm done with short-term rentals! Too hard to find honest Hosts these days.

PLEASE DISREGARD THIS FRAUD REVIEW. This response is a complete lie! I was required by the City of Santa Barbara regulations to convert my home to a long term stay IMMEDIATELY and this person was just irritated that they could not stay in my home. I have all 100% positive reviews and guests love my home. Please contact me directly with any questions or concerns.
Long story short, they have FLEAS, NO PARKING, RECORDING DEVICES (vrbo removed listing until devices removed), ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION IN BACKYARD, UNCLEAN, AC REMOTELY MONITORED. None of which was disclosed at booking. Sent 6PGS of single spaced typed rules A MONTH AFTER BOOKING so we couldn’t find replacement vrbo or hotel at same rate. not the kind of people who should be doing short term rentals.
We informed them of these problems, to which they replied we brought the fleas and that they’re leaving a scathing review of us. We left the place clean despite them REQUIRING US TO PAY A CLEANING FEE in booking but also requiring US TO CLEAN BEFORE WE LEAVE and suggesting WE PAY AGAIN FOR CLEANING WHILE WE ARE THERE. The home WAS NOT CLEAN. There was hair everywhere(linens, towels, etc) and fleas. They have pets which was not disclosed (found food, toys, pee pads, etc in the home). Too many knick knacks and rules for a short term, expensive stay. Home is located in great area, but again NO PARKING. We asked before, during, and after booking and were told there was adequate parking. Untrue.
THEY SHOULD NOT BE RENTING.

BEWARE, I strongly advise against hosting this guest. PLEASE Disregard this negative review, and feel free to contact me directly for clarification on any concerns. It is notable that NOT one of these issues were mentioned or brought to my attention during their stay which is concerning and seems to suggest they lied and just wanted to get some money back, which they did ask for a refund after they checked out, very deceiving!
My INCREDIBLE track record as a SUPERHOST with hundreds of positive 5-STAR reviews over many years on VRBO and AIRBNB speaks for itself. This guest’s claims are unfounded and manipulative.
The listing and photos are accurate depictions of a cozy, spotless, shabby chic, first class amenities, beach cottage which they committed to when they chose and booked our home for their stay. Their complaints are baseless after the fact. Also, our home is modestly priced for the beauty, comfort, spectacular views, and upper east neighborhood just a few streets below the famous world class Belmond El Encanto Hotel, State Street and the Santa Barbara Mission.
The mention of pets, toys, and pet food in the home are for guests who are approved to bring their pets, which is a very rare occasion approximately 2-4 pets allowed per year. The accusation of fleas is baseless; we were personally in the home immediately after they left to check on the home, as we do every time a guest leaves our home, and there was not one sign of any issue whatsoever. After each stay we always ensure our home is professionally cleaned and thoroughly checked and left perfectly spotless. Their claim to the contrary is completely fabricated and untrue.
Regarding parking, our Airbnb listing clearly states ample safe street parking in front of our home. Parking is typically first-come, first-served basis in most SB neighborhoods, and we also provide orange cones for guests to secure a spot.
The backyard construction was minimal and temporary for a small shed being built, now finished for cleaning supplies. The entire area was secure and there were NO safety issues. If they had communicated to us any concern during their stay this would have allowed us time to address them, but it was not even mentioned.
The Alexa was for guests’ use as a clock, to hear music and get recipes, it is NOT capable as a camera. The Nest AC is user-friendly with NO recording capabilities either. The accusation of a recording device led to the removal of the Alexa.
The welcome email details amenities and how to use them for guests’ convenience and comfort during their stay. Our only request is a standard one time cleaning fee. The accusation that we ask for further cleaning fees is baseless and untrue.
