I overlooked that fact that the house does not have A/C, but we lucked out with the week we visited! The windows were all able to be opened, and the weather cooperated to have them open most of the time. The kitchen had adequate general cookware. The only thing that would have been nice was the addition of a blender. My family has traveled together for several years now and we are used to bringing cutting boards and knives, but a blender was not one of the things we brought. There were 11 of us living there for a week and we made it work with one couple sleeping on a pullout couch, a young adult sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the master and a teenager sleeping in the living room on the futon. If your group is particular about everyone having their own space to stay, this house would be best for 6-8 people. Otherwise, the house was a nice home away from home. The boys were able to catch some pike in the channel and one even caught a huge snapping turtle the first day we were there!

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Although this was a nice house on a canal, I was disappointed in the cleanliness and the high price. It was supposed to sleep 14 people, but I don't feel it could hold this many. It listed that there were twin beds and all the rooms with those were merely trundle mattresses that were not very comfortable. Better for small children to sleep on. I would say this home really only fits a max of 8 people. The biggest disappointment was that the house was not very clean. The kitchen counters were not wiped down. The floors were dirty. There were ants on the kitchen counters and in one of the bathrooms. The half bathroom had a bad odors. One of the trundle beds had dirty linens and a wet towel left on it. We were supposed to wash the linens after we left and there was barely enough detergent left. The TV screen had hand prints all over it. I did tell the host and she said she would talk to the maids about this.Lastly the house was not well appointed for guests. Towels were scarce, not enough hand soaps in the bathrooms, We were very short on silverware (11 forks, when advertising for 14 people). To be positive, the outdoor fire pit area was nice and the large yard was a plus. I do, however, think it was overpriced for what we got.

About the host
Hosted by Alicia
Hi! My name is Alicia and I love boating, hanging out with my kids and enjoying the beautiful areas in Michigan! I love hosting guests because I enjoy hearing how much fun they had and love helping give them recommendations around the area.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because we LOVE Burt Lake/Indian River. Its such a beautiful area all year round. We like the small canal right off Burt, because on those choppy water days, you can still enjoy the water kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, etc. The property has a large yard that is great for the whole family, especially with younger kids, they can run around the whole yard playing sports and having fun, while the adults can hang out in the garage or backyard.
What makes this property unique
Our property has everything that you need when you go on vacation and stay at a house. A full kitchen full of utensils, pots, pans, also included kids plates/silverware/cups. We have a two car garage that is connected to the house that we let our guests use, that has a deep freezer and refrigerator as well as games both for inside and out!
