Beautiful home, very spacious & perfect for us. (10) Wish we could have checked in earlier. Home was well equipped. Coffee makers needed to be cleaned, as neither worked. WI-FI and direct TV perfect. Location great, although it was very hot & limited shade outside. We appreciated all the fans inside. Deck could use an umbrella table for shade. We had a wonderful week! Love Burt Lake!
We had a great stay at Tom’s place! Overall the location is great and the house is good for a week rental. All the finishes are a little outdated and the beds and furniture are very old. Overall it was a nice place but needs a little TLC!

Thank You for your review and glad you enjoyed your time at our home.
Heading North,
this is Destiny calling.
A lovely home on a beautiful Burt Lake, with burnt orange skies and clean shades of blue waters.
The nicest residential estate I’ve rented so far. Felt like home!
Most grateful for this opportunity in life.
Thank You

No beach
Burt Lake is beautiful…you just can’t easily access it from this cottage. No beach, just grass with a lot of goose poop, and rocks into the water. Not great for swimming. Can’t access a boat here either, we had to leave our rented pontoon on Mullet Lake - very disappointing. Cottage itself was nice but very dated - kitchen had a Lot of good stuff in it. Small -ish fridge for a big group. If you are looking for a place with lots of living space it was it would be OK. Four bedrooms equals three bedrooms and one loft which is open to the main area. Need new beds. So many rules! The cottage was completely closed up when we arrived and it was about 95° inside and out…so hot! Took a while to cool that place off. If asked, I would say it was not worth the price.
Overall, the house is older, but clean. Does not have AC, but ample fans in every room which kept it comfortable even in hot July. Kitchen was stocked with enough cooking supplies. Lots of seating in kitchen for games, eating, etc. 2 lounging areas was nice for our teenagers. Plenty of parking for multiple cars and our boat trailer. More bath towels were needed, so we had our teenager bring some more up. Large, older deck with table and chairs for outdoor space, as this is where you will spend most of your time in the summer. Deck table needs an umbrella or shade, very hot sun all day out there. We were thankful we brought a pop up tent to shade the table area. Deck had some old nails we had to pound in or we would have hurt our feet and a few holes, as one of our chairs fell into. Great lake view and yard is slightly slanted but big enough for yard games. Fire pot is older and on a slant, so a bit hard to sit around comfortably. Beach and water is VERY rocky. Recommend water shoes. Dock is nice and the mooring buoys held our 23ft. boat perfect. Had a great time on Burt Lake and boating all the rivers as well.

Thank you for the review of our family vacation home, as we strive to make it as accommodating as possible, we are in the process of performing some updates, and would have had them completed, but because of weather the contractors could not confirm having their tasks completed before the arrival of our first guests.
Our exposed post & beam home that was designed and the posts & beams pre-cut by Lindal Cedar Homes in Washington state, and it does have a tendency to look older because the posts & beams are exposed in the interior and the exterior is tongue and grove cedar, although our home style is still available currently.
We also wish we could be closer to the lake, but the building code stipulates building homes in our subdivision must be 115’ or more from the beach.
In turn we apologize that geese choose our beach to briefly occupy, we have a challenge from time to time with eagles, hawks, ducks, seagulls, coyotes and deer as well.
Regarding the home being closed upon your arrival:
We have instructed the cleaning service to completely close up our home when departing, so if a Northern Michigan rain/wind storm occurs before the next renter arrives, the home won’t be compromised.
As it relates to mooring your boat: There are 3 mooring buoys in from of our home, 1 set @ 5’ depth, 1 @ 6’ depth and a 3rd @ 4’depth, earlier this Spring our neighbors tri-toon boat hoist broke and for 2 weeks his 26’ boat was tied to the 6’ depth buoy.
Again "Thanks" for your feedback,

beautiful but...
The location is wonderful. The furnishings are tired and need replaced. The downstairs commode became blocked on the second day of our stay and the garbage disposal was inoperable when we arrived. We notified the owner's agent and a plumber was sent. We are now being assessed a charge for the repairs. The conditions that required the plumber to be called were the result of prior usage of the property and should have been identified and corrected before our arrival/
In addition, the kitchen oven was filthy and filled the room with smoke when we first attempted to use it. The gas grill on the deck was in a similar condition. We were forced to purchase oven cleaner products and clean this equipment before we could use it. This also should have been discovered and corrected before our arrival.
In summary, a beautiful location, but a property that needs upgrading. The owner or vrnbo should do a better job of making sure that the facility is in good operating condition before guests are given access.
Wonderful family memories made in this family sized home!
What a lovely location and all the floor to ceiling windows to take it all in!

Dirty Underwear under couch cushions
Windows need repair, construction next door woke us up 5 out of 7 mornings. The Beach was rocks not sand, very hard to walk into water, with large rocks on bottom. Furniture could use some updating. opened lining closet to take out vacuum and the door would not let us reclose door. Floors in bedrooms were not vacuumed. this place does not sleep 16 people, unless you expect guest to sleep on couches
Cottage was enough space for all 10 of us. Needs a little updating. We lost our boat key and as we were looking for the key under the couch cushions we found all kinds of gross stuff including someone’s underwear. Needs vacuuming. The cottage needs a working vacuum cleaner also. We knew that there was no air conditioning but it was terribly hot inside. Owner is very responsive to any questions or concerns. Considering the stormy weather we had and the lost key we did have a good time.
We are a family of 16: 8 kids, 8 adults. Loved the kitchen- dining area..
We had a great week! The beach/swim area worked well for our grandkids: ages 2-13. We were able to use our kayaks on the evenings when the lake was calm. Bathrooms were very nice and spacious. The proximity to little town of Indian River was great, only 10 minutes away. Tom was good about responding when we had questions..

Thanks Gail,
Glad you had a good time, we love to rent to families like yours, please keep CederStone in mind the next time you vacation in Northern Michigan.
Be SAFE,
Tom
The location was perfect. We went to the upper peninsula and boated on the Indian River. Burt Lake was fantastic but bring water shoes. Our weather was perfect and did not have an issue with no A/C in the home.

Thank You Thomas for the review of our retirement home CedarStone, we love to share our home with families like your. Glad to learn you had a good time and we hope to rent to you again in the future!
The house was nice - very spacious and the grounds/lakefront were beautiful. Listing was misleading about the dock and boat hoist - we rented a boat for our entire stay and didn’t find out until 2 days before we couldn’t dock or use the hoist and had to use the moorings. So every time you wanted to use the boat you had to swim out to it!! Not what we would expect for the cost. The house needs some updating - the beds were great but the couches were old and very uncomfortable. For the money we spent we expected a higher quality in that department.
First time staying in this particular spot. Great location. Plenty of room. Didn’t realize there was no air conditioning (I must’ve missed that) but fortunately the weather was pleasant for us. The fans in each of the rooms helped. Good spot for family. We had 10 adults and it worked well. Easy process for check in and check out. Rented a boat from marina and used the mooring buoys. Sad to leave
Our time spent at Cedar Stone was very hot Four first of June did not realize the house had no AC. Overall good stay I do not recommend this place for person that likes to fish like myself and my kids swimming out to your boat at six in the morning it’s not something that I typically used to doing boatlift did not get put in until middle of the week it could use some serious work. Overall we had a great stay the place is a beautiful home well-equipped and a very nice setting with a great neighbor
The view was beautiful and the weather was to bad to swim though we enjoyed are adventure with my family and went horse back riding and it was good time. The house was amazing And super clean, so were the bathrooms and beds. The whole trip was amazing and the house made it even better.
