Quaint Studio Loft in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort

This unique building is known for its interesting history as the headquarters of James Mcteer "The Vodoo Sherriff" and lies in the heart of the historic commercial district of Beaufort, Located steps from Bay St. known for its shops, boutiques, art galleries and charming restaurants. The loft is above Sweetgrass Pantry and Provision where you can buy fresh bakery items as well as craft beer, wine, snacks, etc. The exterior stairs lead you to a welcome retreat that makes ‘Oyster Bed’s’ individuality shine. You are also located one block from the scenic Waterfront Park, and a short walk to historic Old Point neighborhood to see the beautiful antebellum homes. The beach at Hunting Island State Park is about a 15-minute drive away.
Oyster Bed is a fully furnished apartment which includes a bedroom with queen bed, bathroom with shower, and a kitchenette. The kitchenette has a refrigerator/freezer, coffee-maker, microwave, silverware/dinnerware, and basic kitchen goods. There is also a separate living room with a queen sized pull out leather sofa bed with an additional half bathroom making the sleeping capacity 4 people.

What a nice place! Having the second half bath was so appreciated. The layout is much more spacious that we expected and the location was so nice, easy to dine out, shop, go to water... parking lot was very close but far enough to need 2 trips with luggage. No problem though. The decor was splendid, really well done. Felt special.

This was a perfect for us, we loved being right downtown for a 2 night stay. We like stopping in Beaufort on our way to Fripp. This time we decided to come early and stay in town for a few days. The loft was everything we expected and more.

The studio was exactly as described and totally adorable. Very centrally located. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but was likely made worse because it turns out my visit happened to be the same day as a major local event. I'm guessing it would normally be easier. The town is absolutely stunning and the people were so nice. I highly recommend this unit!

The unit is perfectly situated in the downtown area. Located directly across from Old Bull Tavern which was excellent for our dinner on first night. Located one block from main shopping area and two blocks to the waterfront. The unit is very old and therefore doesn't seem to have any insulation. It was extremely hot (upper 90's) while we were there and there was no adjusting the mini-split air conditioner. Had to keep the double (2 layers of curtains) curtains closed to block out the heat from the windows, which made the inside very dark. Lighting is also dim. There were only 2 pillows that had pillowcases on them. No kitchen towels, only paper towels. The unit itself is very charming with exposed slurry walls and what appears to be original flooring. Also, there is track lighting but they don't seem to work. A parking pass was included so we were able to park our car about a block away and just walked everywhere which was very convenient. The host was responsive to my messages. I would rent again, but when the weather is not so hot!

I can’t recommend this property highly enough. The location is perfect—right in the heart of downtown and the building itself has so much charm. Next time we come to Beaufort this will be our preferred stay.

Great little studio apartment. Close to Bay Street and waterfront park. Enjoyed walking around Beaufort and then returning to room to get our second wind. Great having a refrigerator and microwave to heat up any leftovers. Street noise was minimal. Definitely would stay here again!
