About this property

Up Island charm, in-town convenience

Up island charm on one acre, wooded lot- yet close to town.
Discover everything the Vineyard has to offer- great trails, golf, fishing, beaches, restaurants, shopping...
Our nicely appointed house is ideally located halfway between Vineyard Haven village (home of the famous Black Dog Tavern) and bucolic West Chop, in a family-friendly setting of private 1+ acre wooded lots. It's less than 1.5 miles to great fishing, beaches, town, library and shopping, with Mink Meadows public golf course just 5 minutes down the road. Renovated in 2011, furniture, bedding, most appliances and nearly everything else has been updated. Grill out or just relax with friends and family on our spacious deck,- and the lawn provides ample room for croquet, volleyball, or any other activity your family can think of. Enjoy our new horseshoe pit! After dark, the deck and backyard provide the perfect setting for Vineyard stargazing.

Our house has a breezy, open floor plan that easily allows for larger gatherings. The dining table comfortably seats 6-8, or 8-10 with the leaf inserted. There is an additional table on the deck that can also seat 8-10.

The primary bedroom features a queen bed, ceiling fan, and 1/2 bath. The sliding doors open onto the deck, and allow for plenty of natural light and provide cool breezes on warm summer nights. The outdoor shower is just steps away, conveniently built right on the deck.

A second bedroom also features a queen bed and ceiling fan.
If you're vacationing with a baby, this room also has a handy three drawer Bellini changing table doing double duty as a bureau. The third bedroom is kid tested and approved, with bunkbeds and reading lights

New Kohler sink, toilet and fixtures have been installed in the main bathroom, and there is an additional 1/2 bath in the master bedroom.

While TV is probably not on your vacation agenda, the living room does have a 40", as well as a 32" in the master bedroom. You'll also find a supply of games in the living room for those occasional rainy days- please also see our website for additional rainy day activities and destinations.

Working during your vacation can be a bummer, but if you must... we do have free wi-fi, phone and a charming 'vacation desk' made from reclaimed barnwood.

Comfortable home in Vineyard Haven

We really enjoyed our stay. This home is very convenient for our favorite local beach at Tashmoo and it's easy to get anywhere on the island from here too. The house is very comfortable and the back deck is great for hanging out and the outside shower is a highlight!

Great property and convenient location. Great back patio/yard. Nice to enjoy the back patio in the evening and watch the wildlife in the backyard (squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, deer, birds). Nice place to return to after day or evening out. Very convenient, but away from the busy downtowns of the island. Responsive owner. Highly recommend.

Great stay on the Vineyard

We enjoyed an excellent week on Martha’s Vineyard. The house had plenty of room for our family of four. Parking was ample and the house is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. The house has all amenities as listed and we used the kitchen and outdoor grill without any issue. We loved the outdoor shower and the peacefulness of the home. At the end of the street is the dirt road entrance to Herring Creek Beach which is an awesome place to hang with the kids. Can’t say enough good things about the house and we had a great visit.

Perfect Vineyard cottage

We had an amazing stay at Wayne’s house for our vineyard vacation. Upon arrival, the house was impeccably clean and we were greeted by friendly neighbors. With 2 small kids under 6, they loved the bunk beds, the board games and outdoor games and yard. The house was well stocked with beach chairs and games which made it nice to not have to bring our own. We made great use of the washing machine, outdoor shower, and plenty of bath towels. The outdoor deck was lovely to sit or entertain for dinners outdoors. The location was perfect, on a quiet street with access to Tashmoo Lake just across the way. And close enough for a short bike ride or long walk to town, shops, restaurants. The house had everything we needed and Wayne was readily available for any questions. We hope to return next year!

Wonderful house - great location for hiking/biking and exploring. Best time of year to visit - no crowds and lots to do (and eat!) There was a minor problem with the house when we arrived but the host was very accessible and really cared about and solved our concerns. Lovely place to stay and I'd return in a heartbeat.

Perfect Family Getaway

Lovely, comfortable home away from home

This rental was just as pleasant as it is advertised to be - spacious and comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood that was a short bike ride to Vineyard Haven. Everything was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well-equipped and the shared living space was very comfortable. The deck was beautiful, perfect for afternoon wine-and-cheese relaxing and the outdoor shower was delicious after a long day of bike riding. If our travels bring us back to the Vineyard, we would absolutely look to rent here again.

Great Stay

The owner was more than attentive to questions and a few minor concerns raised. The house was clean, comfortable and located within walking distance of Vineyard Haven and less than five minutes for Mink Meadows Golf Course. BEST OUTDOOR SHOWER ever! Wonderful deck with plenty of comfortable furnitue. GREAT Weber Grill. All in all, a wonderful two weeks.

Comfortable, quiet, family friendly

This property was extremely clean when we arrived, in a quiet neighborhood just north of Vineyard Haven's center. Great features that we utilized throughout our stay: the outdoor dining table, grill, grassy area in back for our kids to run around and collect acorns, outdoor shower (which we used exclusively during our stay), beach chairs and toys, ceiling fans, and washer/dryer in basement. This was a thoroughly relaxing stay, despite super rare tornado warnings one evening during remnants of hurricane Ida. We were quite thankful for a basement! We'd absolutely recommend a stay here for families. A great jumping off point for adventures around Martha's Vineyard.

Wonderful island escape!

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful house. Everything was even better than expected, and we had high expectations! The house is clean, modern, and well equipped. The yard is lovely and the outdoor shower is amazing! We loved the location as well - convenient to get anywhere on the island. The local Tashmoo beach is a true gem! Thank you for a lovely vacation, we cannot wait to come back next year.

Wonderful!

This is the perfect little vineyard home, especially for a family with kids. My husband and I stayed for a week with our 10 month old and had such a wonderful stay! The backyard and deck are stunning with plenty of space. The furniture and grill out on the deck are super high quality which we really appreciated. This sometimes isn’t the case with rentals. We spent most of our time out here. The outdoor shower being on the deck (as opposed to on the grass like some other homes) was a huge plus. The smart TV with Netflix/Hulu/etc. worked great and was good to have for the couple of rainy days we had. The kitchen is very well stocked with spices/pots/pans/etc. Overall, such a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you so much Wayne and Ann for letting us call your home our home this past week. We had beautiful weather and we had so much fun discovering all of the wonderful spots around the island. Your home was the perfect launching pad for the day and had all of the amenities that we could have wanted. The location could not have been better, situated a short distance from downtown Vineyard Haven. We are already planning our vacation next year.

A Great Family Rental!!!!!

Everything about our stay at the Davey family rental was perfect – the home is a true gem!!!! Wayne and Ann are two wonderful people with a beautiful MV property. Wayne always responded very very prompty with any questions and was always very helpful. This was the first time we ever rented outside of a realty company and the experience and property exceeded our expectations. The rental was exactly as described and more!!!!! It is really a great home for a vacationing family (our kids are 3 and 8). The outdoor shower and the large enclosed changing area were fabulous!!! The bunk beds were a hit with the kids. There are so many wonderful touches throughout the house that are so thoughtful (the hampers in each room, folding table in the landry room, plenty of kitchenware) that make this rental such a top notch vacation retreat. The Davey’s neighbor Mr. Schoolfield is a very nice gentleman if you ever have any questions about the island. My family had a wonderful discovering the island and are planning to come back next year!!!

Rent this house!!!!

This house has everything you can want - recently updated, close drive to the beach, outdoor shower, wifi, cable, washer/dryer, beach chairs/toys. Close drive to the beach and Wayne is very helpful throughout the process. My kids loved the bunk beds! Highly recommend it!

Wonderful Stay

We recently returned from a week's stay at this wonderful Vineyard Haven rental. It was a pleasure to deal with the owner who took great care to make sure that we settled in and that all was well with the house during our stay. Although a 25 plus year visitor to the Island for our annual week of rest and relaxation this was the first time we stayed near Vineyard Haven and I'm thrilled that we did! We were able to enjoy Lake Tashmoo, Mink Meadows, Grace Church lobster rolls, and great shopping and restaurants (our favorite being the Blue Canoe) all within minutes from the house. The house is in a private setting and extremely well represented by the photos. We would certainly recommend the home to others and hope to rent it again next year for ourselves.

Vinyard Haven Getaway

Clean, quiet and, as advertised, a great outdoor shower. We rode bikes all over the island and it was great starting point to go everywhere. I thought. I would recommend this listing to a family or a few couples who want to get away affordably.

Wonderful Home close to town

We stayed at this wonderful home, and we had such a great time. It is close to downtown Vineyard Haven and the ferry terminal. Too many great things to mention. It was nicely updated, and has plenty of furnishings. Plenty of dishes, linens, and appliances are in the home. GREAT outdoor shower. Beds are large and comfortable. The deck is fabulous and we enjoyed the evenings relaxing on it and looking into the private backyard. Very peaceful. The neighbor came over to check in on us once, and was very friendly. Recommend Le Grenier in town for dinner - at dusk you can look out at the boats on the sound and it is simply beautiful! The owners of this property are wonderful to deal with - absolutely no problems.

I'm a born and raised Vineyard native, and while I've been away 20+ years, my wife, daughter and I have returned to the island every summer to visit family and friends.

Why they chose this property

As a third generation native of Vineyard Haven, I know it well. The town has the perfect balance of beach, boating, walking and bike trails, great restaurants & shopping- all without the 'stuffiness' you mind encounter in other vacation spots. And while we're close to everything, our location has a distinctly 'up-island' feel; woodsy yet with enough land for a sunny backyard, and an occasional flock of wild turkeys stopping by. Vineyard Haven has it all.

What makes this property unique

We spend a lot of time outdoors while on the island, so our deck and backyard get plenty of use for grilling out and playing games. We keep a boat in the Lagoon, just minutes away- the Lagoon is a great, uncrowded place for all kinds of water activities. We also love to ride bikes, whether it's into town for ice cream, or down nearby Herring Creek Rd, a scenic 1.5 mile dirt lane leading to Lake Tashmoo opening.
