We stayed at this property for 39 days. The location is excellent - a quiet residential street in Huntington Beach, yet very close to shopping and other amenities.The house is quite dated and would benefit from better maintenance. A few days before checkout, we found mouse traps under the living room sofa. The kitchen, bedrooms, furniture, and equipment also feel old and could use updating.The heated pool was one of the main reasons we chose this property due to a medical condition that requires us to use warmer water. However, the owner asked me to clean and maintain the pool during our stay, then complained about the water level and temperature. Guests should not be responsible for pool maintenance.After our stay, the owner also requested extra payment outside the VRBO platform, claiming the gas bill was too high because we heated the pool, although no additional heating charges were disclosed before booking. He also requested extra cleaning fees outside the platform, despite us leaving the house very clean and even leaving behind useful items we purchased, including an iron, cookware, a kettle, and drying racks.The house has no air conditioning and no curtains in the living room.Overall, the location is great, but the property needs significant improvements in maintenance, amenities, and guest experience.

Stayed here for 40 nights with a kiddo and the only thing that really was decent was the pool. It was a big hit for kiddo but way too salty for the adults to use. We put the temperature up a few degrees and when host came to add chemicals, he put it back to his desired temperature and texted us to leave it. House does not have AC (no big deal, it’s not advertised to) but when host informed us there was a portable unit in the garage that “works great”, it was piled high with dust and doesn’t properly fit in any of the windows. Only way it goes is if windows are still open and letting hot air in around the unit and only cools the room it’s in, not the house. Asked host where he normally puts it and one of his recommendations was “up the chimney lol”. No blinds in the living room to block the sun. House was bare minimum cleaned upon arrival. Within 30 min of walking barefoot in the house, bottom of our feet were black, and soap scum all around the bathroom sink handles with spider webs everywhere. Lost a toy under the couch and also recovered previous guests binkies, dog toys and trash. Had to purchase our own pizza cutter after the extremely dull knife set wouldn’t even cut the crust. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, especially the 2 queen beds put together that creates a large gap that you fall into when sleeping. Trash day brings homeless folks digging through the trash late at night! Pictures on listing are also not accurate of what the bedrooms and furniture look like now
