Perfect place to stay for our girls weekend! Cozy, comfortable, and in a perfect location. About 1 mile from the downtown and within walking distance to the beach and vineyard. The house is so thoughtfully decorated, and had every amenity you can think of! Really enjoyed the outdoor space. Will definitely stay here during our next trip to Greenport!

Beautiful space, great kitchen/living room space where my friends and I gathered. It was clean, comfortable and the details of the home/decor were beautiful. I’d love to return and explore more of the north folk. Thank you.

The Saltbox in Greenport is so beautiful

The hosts, Kristina and Kim, are hands-on, always available, and even came right out to the property on day one to set up for a change in our reservation. They were very promptly responsive to any questions or troubleshooting, which we really appreciated. We have been renting on the North Fork for 8 summers, and we've never had to bring so little with us. The Saltbox rental includes all necessary toiletry products and even coffee, tea, and espresso beans. The bathrooms have been done up like spa or hotel bathrooms and are delightful. Too many nice touches to list here, but the local natural products from The Weathered Barn, and all the kitchen necessities needed for cooking whatever food we brought were greatly appreciated. The house has great history and great energy, and the modern touches that make it an awesome home away from home out East. Perfect place for a catered affair which they are clearly set up for and even will provide during your stay for additional fees. The kitchen is a cook's dream. Excellent choice for a stay in Greenport, a 15 minute-walk to and from town. Fantastic location and wonderful experience!

Stylish, Beautiful Greenport House

We recently had a wonderful stay at The Saltbox in Greenport, NY. Despite it being at a main intersection, to our surprise it was peaceful and we never felt bothered by the traffic noise. The house is quaint, cozy and tastefully designed, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. it’s also filled with a pleasant aroma that adds to the overall charm. The kitchen is well-stocked with all we needed and everything is labled for easy access. Our hostess (Kristina and Kim) were above and beyond accommodating and patient ensuring that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their attention to detail and a lovely welcome basket was a wonderful touch that immediately made us feel at home. Due to warm sunny days, we enjoyed spending time in the beautiful large garden with comfortable furniture for relaxing outdoors. We spent few evening grilling and gathering over meals and spending quality times with friends and family. The location is just a short walk to town and other attractions to explore. Overall, the Saltbox offers a perfect blend of comfort, style, convenience and charm. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy all that Greenport and NorthFork has to offer.

A Little About Us

Hosting has always been something we genuinely enjoy — this home is our way of sharing that. One day, we’d love to run a full bed & breakfast, and The Saltbox is our first step toward that vision: a place that feels cared for, personal, and thoughtfully prepared rather than just another rental.

Summer 2025 Notice

There is ongoing municipal road work in the surrounding area. Expect weekday construction activity Monday–Friday, roughly 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, which may include increased traffic and daytime noise.

The town has not provided a firm timeline or consistent schedule; the work has been intermittent since early spring and may continue through the season. Even when quiet some days, we want guests to book with full awareness so there are no surprises.

Why they chose this property

Greenport is one of Long Island’s rare towns that still feels like a true seaside village. Tucked on the North Fork, it blends beaches, vineyards, restaurants, small shops, and working-harbor charm into a place that works just as well for families as it does for couples or a weekend with friends.

I first discovered it about 17 years ago and have been coming back several times a year since. Eventually, it stopped feeling like a getaway and started feeling like somewhere I genuinely wanted to belong. Owning here is our way of being part of the community and supporting the small businesses that give this historic fishing town its character.

What makes this property unique

What Makes This Home Special

This house carries history beyond its age. The people who restored it were deeply loved in the Greenport community, and we strive to honor their care and intent by continuing to maintain and share the home with the same respect.

Since its renovation, the space truly feels revived, from the structure to the windows; everything reflects a thoughtful restoration rather than a replacement. It remains a 19th-century home, just with the comforts people actually want today.

You’ll find modern amenities paired with real character: clean, updated features alongside original details, and a design style that’s both sleek and genuinely cozy. Each room balances warmth and charm without losing the historic soul of the house.
