Host was there to meet me and explain everythingshe was helpful in all things that I needed. She made several suggestions of what to do in Santa Barbara, which was a nice touch. One thing that should be added to the description is the fact that there is a no shoes in the house policy, which wasn’t mentioned before and it was a big surprise on check in.

Hummm. "Good location"? Most guests, and MANY return year after year, when describing the location of Caza de Coco use adjectives like "stellar, amazing, fantastic, sooo convenient, perfect, GREAT!!! I am at a loss for words here. I think sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can't please everyone all of the time.

Great location and property

Thank you for letting us stay at your Santa Barbara cottage it was the perfect place for 4 adults visiting Santa Barbara for the first time. The location is excellent and you were a perfect hostess responding to our needs. I would love to return, but next time with our dogs! My only suggestions would be to have a few more items on stock like toilet paper, coffee etc.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Cassie: Oh my... I don't know where to begin. In regards to the toilet paper, as I mentioned to your husband when I brought you the extra roles, there are normally 3 extra rolls in the bathroom. That was simply a housekeeping oversight and I responded as soon as I was told of it! I wouldn't expect the four of you to survive for 3 days on one roll! I try so hard to go overboard and beyond the expected and predict what one might need to make a vacation seamless i.e. new slipper socks for cold feet, first aid kit, sewing kit, iron and board, baby or dog gate, dog sheets & towels, clothes steamer, blow dryer, shampoo/conditioner/soap, toothbrushes/paste,make-up removers, laundry detergent & spot removers, dog wipes, beach tar remover, aspirin, foot powder, rubbing alcohol, beach towels, extra blankets & pillows, water purifier, mixer, blender, assorted pots and pans, ice bucket, dishes/silverware,lemon squeezer, ice cream scooper, pot holders, cookie sheets/muffin pans etc, serving platters, bbq utensils, paper plates/plastic utin/napkins (even toothpicks), saran wrap/aluminum foil/baggies, flower vases, games and cards, scissors, scotch tape, rubber bands, lint remover, calculator, magnification mirror in bath and hand magnifier in kitchen, Santa Barbara City map, note pad and pen, candy, breath mints, local tourist guides and I even drive over and hand deliver the weekly magazine "Independent" that comes out on Thursdays! These items are additional items, most of which are not even mentioned in vrbo. In the "house instructions" in the drawer under the TV, I mention that if food products are used they should be replenished by the guest that uses them. I don't monitor or supply them. Over time the basics end up there such as salt, pepper, sugar, syrup, mustard, mayonnaise, oil, coffee, tea, jam, etc -most guests don't cook or even make coffee due to the proximity of all the coffee houses and restaurants. The non-perishable food products are just passed on to the next guest. Well, I guess a prior guest used all the coffee and didn't replace it, I'm sorry about that. I am not sure what you meant by "etc" in your post???? I really don't know what else one might be expecting when they stay at a vacation rental. It is not a bed and breakfast and I can't cook anyway--you really don't want me bringing food! The toilet paper was an oversight which I remedied as soon as I was told about it, I apologize again for the oversite, housekeeping has been notified.

Great Location!

Two of us stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. Fabulous location 15 min walk from the train station and beach and 1 block away from lots of shopping, dining, and historical sites. About a 30 minute walk to Mission Santa Barbara. The house is very comfortable for 2-4 people. Very clean, fun decorations, and everything you could possibly need. We had a lovely weekend.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Carolyn: Thank you for your review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and took your late train (who knew, I thought trains always arrived on time) arrival in stride. I do hope you return and can visit longer, there is plenty more to see here. Take care.

Perfect hidden cottage

I stayed in "Bungalulu," a 1.5-br cottage located in the back of a classic SB property. It was an adorable and extremely dog-friendly place to call home for a few days. Mimi even provides "dog sheets" so that dogs can be on the furniture. The backyard is magical, and the location can't be beat - everything is walkable. A wonderful place! Thank you Mimi!!
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Kaethin: Thank you for your visit and kind words. Phoebe is a doll, I will save her squeaky toy for her return visit. You both are welcome back anytime!

Perfect Santa Barbara Retreat!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Mimi's downtown Santa Barbara home. She welcomed us in-person when we arrived in town, and provided wonderful recommendations for local restaurants and activities. The home was comfortable and uniquely decorated, and our two dogs loved the outdoor areas. Mimi even gave us dog toys and towels to ensure they enjoyed their time in SB, too. The location is perfect, with walking access to everything the town has to offer. We will definitely be back!

Great Location, Wonderful Home

We stayed in The Annex for a week and could not have been happier. Mimi is a gracious host who loves dogs. If you're traveling with a pet, you know it's difficult to find high quality lodging but we found it here! The house was spotless and very nicely decorated with all the amenities. We walked everywhere ... groceries, restaurants downtown shopping, Funk Zone, the beach. Mimi sent texts with recommendations on things to do and was always available for questions. Definitely recommend!

Fabulous, charming and so convenient!

LOVE this place!! Mimi greeted me with a dog toy at the door. She was so gracious. Not only was the place adorable, it was close to everything Santa Barbara has to offer. Mimi was very helpful with good restaurants, or suggestions of fun things to do. The place itself was soo charming with no details left undone. I loved the fact that I didn't need to drive anywhere. The mall is half a block away and all of the wonderful restaurants are a quick walk, there's even a grocery store within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again and plan on it for all my future trips to Santa Barbara!

Awesome stay - 2 month stay

The property was immaculate. The host met us for check in, showed us around and answered questions. The location is awesome. You can walk to State St., stores, restaurants, grocery store, etc. But if you want to venture out, the rental comes with a parking space (indoors and gated) - huge bonus. Convenient to everything the Santa Barbara area has to offer. The host (Mimi) was responsive and easy to deal with. Dog friendly, and Mimi even dropped off dog toys. Washer and dryer on the property (no charge). We will be returning to this property as soon as we can. Thanks Mimi!

Terrific Location and Accomodations

We showed up late, but we were greeted with a beautifully lit home that was clean, meticulously decorated, and nicely appointed. We met with Mimi the next morning and she showed us around the property and gave us recommendations for meals and tourist activities. We were in Santa Barbara for a dog show, so unfortunately, we had little time for sightseeing. We brought three French Bulldogs with us and they loved the home, the yard, the dog bed, and the toys that Mimi provided. Although it was a warm weekend (85 degrees), the house remained comfortable for us and the dogs. We are already making plans for our next visit. Thank you Mimi, for a terrific weekend!
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Darryl: I loved having all five of you!! How cute would it be to have Camp Frenchie or French Camp take place there next year! You can, of course come back before then, but I can just see oodles of French Bull Dogs everywhere! You both were a delight, thank you so much for choosisng Caza de Coco for your stay.

Perfect Hostess, Perfect Location

We enjoyed a week here. Mimi could not have been a better hostess. The house was stocked with everything we needed, down to a beach bag and chairs for our trips to the ocean. We were greeted at the property, where Mimi went over everything and even had brand new toys for our dog. We have done many VRBO's, and this was the first where we were welcomed so warmly. Mimi was very helpful in directing us to many Santa Barbara activities and restaurants and answered every question we had quickly via text or in person. The house is situated perfectly for easy access to State Street and all that has to offer. Don't be put off by no designated parking space. There is a parking pass that comes with the house and we were always able to find a place to park. The grounds are well kept, house is cozy, clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to returning very soon.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Gordon and Victoria: Thank you for such nice comments. You also were the perfect guests with the perfect dog (I know Minnie is not really a dog, but she looks like one, which is a compliment)! Not many people are so kind as to spend their vacation repairing a "hard water impaired shower head"! Next time you visit, maybe you can stay in Bungalulu with the "mysterious intermittent running toilet"? Ha! Please come back, you and Miz Minnie are so welcome anytime.

Best location and amazing host

We stayed at the Annex for a long weekend, and couldn't have asked for a better spot. The house was spotless and very cozy and the location couldn't be beat. We were literally able to park our car when we got there and not get in it again until it was time to leave. We could walk to tons of restaurants, bars and the beach, and even the grocery store was only a block and a half away. The furniture and beds were very comfortable, and there were even hotel-like perks like plush bathrobes and tons of pillows on the bed. The outdoor space is great too, and we were able have drinks and even nap undisturbed in the backyard. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We were traveling with a 5-month old baby and a 55 lb. dog, and she was very accommodating for both. She is clearly an animal lover, and we very much appreciated being able to stay someplace that was so pet-friendly. She gave us restaurant and bar recommendations, as well as places where we could take to the dog and good activities for the baby. We would absolutely stay here again, as it made our weekend very enjoyable and relaxing.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Katharine: Such a nice review! I thank you for that and for your stay as well! You all are welcome back anytime, and of course, bring BOTH babies! As you could probably tell, I have a special soft spot for the four legged wet nosed ones! I must say, your little niece was very dainty, pretty and sweet, I don't think she will remember much from this trip, but perhaps you can bring her back in a few years. There is much to see and do here for toddlers. Thanks so much for writing. Mimi

Bungalulu is the best!!!

I stayed at Bungalulu for a nice two week vacation. Mimi is absolutely the BEST! She made sure I had everything I needed. The kitchen had plenty of topnotch supplies, and it was so cute and retro I loved cooking in it. The house itself was absolutely perfect and SO adorable! Everything was so clean. I am a hard person to please when it comes to clean, and Bungalulu did not disappoint! The beds were so comfy and cozy, it was hard to leave! But when I did manage to get out of the cottage, there was so much to do. I walked to the beach, to the park, the Santa Barbara Mission and there were so many amazing places to shop! I had different friends visiting the area at the time and Mimi was sure to leave me newspapers of the events around Santa Barbara and the surrounding areas. My stay at Bungalulu was honestly one of the best vacations I've had and I can't wait to come back to Bungalulu!!!

Another Great Experience

We just returned from our second trip to one of Mimi's cottages. This time we were in the back in the smaller, Bungalulu. We absolutely loved it. It was the perfect size for the two of us and our little dog. The kitchen is perfectly stocked, the master bedroom cozy and comfortable, the front sitting room sunny and bright and the bathroom is adorable. I fell in love with the claw foot tub! There is a second small bedroom, and a storage area next to the bathroom, so there was plenty of room to stash away suitcases and such. The gated porches and the shared backyard make this an easy place to bring your dog. That being said, the houses are clean and no sign of excessive dog wear. The location is perfect for walking to the grocery store, restaurants, bars, shopping and even down to the wharf. Mimi is a great resource for things to do and restaurants to try. Our second stay was every bit as perfect as our first. Thanks, Mimi!

A cozy gem in Santa Barbara

My family and I loved our stay in this cozy bungalow. Mimi was an amazing host! She greeted us on check-in (with a toy for a dog as well). When there was a minor problem, she arrived within 10 minutes to fix it. She also sent me a few messages letting me know about special events that were going on that weekend. The location can't be beat! We didn't need to move our car all weekend, and we could walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The only down side was the bar across the street created a little bit of noise at closing time, but not every night of our visit.

I moved to Santa Barbara 35 years ago after spending a mere four day vacation here. I now, and have for the last 25 years, sell real estate and manage my own rentals. Some are long term unfurnished and some are short term furnished. Casa de Coco is too cute and located in an A+++location

Why they chose this property

This property was converted to a vacation rental because of the location. It sits in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Everything is steps away, yet it fronts on one of the coolest streets in Santa Barbara. The house was built in the early 1900s so it is extremely charming with very large windows and beautiful natural light. There are fenced yards and viewing porches both front and back. It is an oasis, a secret spot, a hold-out, a gem peaking out of a downtown corridor. You won't want to leave Santa Barbara and ESPECIALLY Caza de Coco.

What makes this property unique

The proximity of Caza de Coco to everything that is Santa Barbara is A+. You can walk for an evening at the theatre, stroll for a little live music and wine tasting, shop till you drop, partake in two weekly Farmer's Markets steps away, or dine from coffee, breakfast, to 5* restaurants. The lovingly chosen eclectic decor, friendly floor plan, and sun filled rooms will warm your heart. Caza de Coco will wrap its arms around you and make you feel special and welcome in her fair city.

Not suitable for anyone under 25

$100 bi weekly cleaning fee for 30 night stays or longer

$200 pet deposit required

We include parking across the street, undercover, assigned, behind gates for 1 car. Arrangements can be made for additional parking for additional fees. Inquire for details.
