Basement apartment in a rural country setting, nestled between two mountains. We're only10 miles from Route 322, halfway between Harrisburg and State College. Minutes from Juniata Valley Winery (literally only 3 miles down the road) and Port Royal Speedway (8 miles).
Make this your Home Away From Home! This is a finished basement with all the comforts of home. Full kitchen, large livingroom, bedroom and 3/4 bath. Enjoy watching the chickens and goats grazing in the meadow. There's a swingset outside that your children are welcome to use. Build a campfire in the fire ring and roast hotdogs and marshmallows for supper!
To help muffle the chaos and commotion of normal family life, we did as much sound proofing as possible. We will try to keep the noise down in the mornings but please be aware......... we live here and you WILL hear us!
Other things to note:
The basement is yours, with the exception of the small cold storage room that goes off the kitchen. Also the water heater and furnace room goes off the bathroom.
If you are not comfortable with using the gas (propane) stove, there is also an electric single coil burner in the kitchen for you to cook with.
Cell phone service may be poor in the basement but there is WiFi available.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Absolutely wonderful. The area is quiet and peaceful. The family is wonderful and welcoming. We had a nice private space in the basement with our own entrance. The family even left for us fresh eggs, milk, donuts, bananas, and cereal! The place was clean and beautiful. They are honest about their noise level - there are young children running above your head in the morning. But I honestly thought this added to the character of the place.
Lovely stay in the rural Juniata Valley countryside, just a few miles from the Juniata Winery. Almost a farm setting, with chickens and goats in back. The rooms and facilities were exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the host was absolutely wonderful. Note that you may hear the patter of little feet in the house above, but it is not intrusive; my wife and I found it charming. We slept blissfully. Full spacious kitchen, with fresh free-range eggs in the fridge.Highly recommended!
I had a last minute commitment in State College, this was the perfect location to stay the night before and night after a full day conference. They made it homey and offered local eating options, I wish I had been able to try them. If you’re looking for a spot to star gaze, this would be it.
We absolutely enjoyed our time at the Twin Ridge Retreat!! We were in town for a few days of racing. It was so nice to have access to all of the amenities from home. The fresh milk and eggs in the fridge were delicious!!
We stayed for two nights to break up our drive to a nearby train site. It is very spacious inside. Very clean and well taken care of. The hosts provided us with milk, eggs, cereal, bananas, and cinnamon rolls. It was a nice surprise. You can hear the foot traffic above as stated in the listing, nothing overly loud. Just normal kids playing. If you have Misophonia like myself, bring your earbuds/earplugs and you will be fine. We enjoyed playing the Apples to Apples game. We haven't laughed so hard in a while. Thank you for a relaxing peaceful stay!

Could not have had a better or more comfortable stay. Hosts were very responsive to questions and incredibly accomodating with requests. Thank you, I will definitely stay with you again when I'm in the area
Wonderfully nice host family. Easy to communicate with and very accomodating. We stayed over a holiday and it was clean, warm, welcoming, and so pleasant. Very grateful for a quiet stay in a beautiful country. Gods presence is felt here
We were blessed by this retreat for the weekend while we enjoyed a wedding at the Juniata Valley Winery. Please understand the culture and environment you are booking in and you will be blessed also. This a great family and all the extras of breakfast items and homemade cinnamon rolls were just perfect for us! We enjoyed our stay with this beautiful family!
We decided to book this cute little apartment for a local gymnastics meet that we were in town for. The owners of the house were super sweet. check-in was very convenient even at 10 PM, the owners were understanding And still greeted us with a smile in the driveway. This place reminded me of simple living; a nice slowdown in life to enjoy the little things. It would be a great place to get away to for some r&r. It was very accommodating to our needs and we can’t wait to stay again in March for our spring meet!

Bed was a hard/firm mattress. Shower is for short people. Those of us over 5 ft have to duck. Otherwise very nice rental.

Pros: this place was immaculate on cleanliness, comfort is top tier (though the bed was a little firm for me. Their pup wasn’t best welcoming committee. Coffee and fresh farm eggs in the fridge. Plenty of pillows and blankets. No TV at all BUT a great game of apples to apples made our night. The location was super easy to find, beautiful peaceful property with chickens, and I think I saw a cow. Sweet welcoming family as well.
Cons: get your information (password for lock, wifi, and local directions) before you loose WiFi, unless your connected to the property - it doesn’t exist. The family does live right upstairs and you will hear them… early. Lucky for us we are up early. There is only 1 air conditioner for the apartment and if you leave for the day - expect it to be off when you get back, leaving the main bedroom a bit uncomfortable.
The shower is not made for anyone over 5’2” or on the chunky side.
It’s the perfect place to stay if you need to be local for the area and it looks like they may be adding space. The cleanliness and comfort outweigh any con listed and I would definitely recommend/stay again if needed.
We are a Christian family who appreciates the opportunity to work together at home in lawnmower sales and service. Renting out our basement on AirBnB is something we enjoy.. Our prayer is that you would be blessed with God's presence and peace during your stay here!
