Quiet and peaceful and yet close to De Land, only 20 miles from Daytona Beach and just down the road from the historic Old Spanish Sugar Mill at De Leon Springs State Park. One hour and fifteen minutes north of Walt Disney World. Bar-BQ, microwave, refrigerator, electric cooker, tea kettle, coffee pot, toaster, TV, professional pest control. NO Wi-Fi, NO ACCESS TO POOL OR LAUNDRY ROOM.

Property was so quiet and pretty. Cottage was clean. A little musty smell and the water or the drains has a funky smell. Almost like rotten eggs. We didn’t spend much time on property so it served its purpose. If those couple things are addressed it is a lovely place e to stay.

I wish I knew how to address those two things. I have installed a $6,000 water treatment system and it's a lot better but some people especially if they're from up north can still smell it. I couldn't even smell it before the $6,000 investment but I guess I'm used to it. For the musty smell, I tore out all the walls and replaced them, replaced the roof, re-tiled the floor, installed the AC unit advised by AC company which we run all the time even when there are no visitors, installed an additional AC unit to help even more, installed fans above the doors in addition to the ceiling fans to help circulate air and have provided dozens of air fresheners which somehow always seem to disappear. If anyone has an additional suggestion, I'm all ears.

Jean's cottage was perfect for our stay. And so close to so many of the springs. The cottage itself is so quiet and peaceful. My kids loved going by to say hi to the horses. Perfect stay.

Perfectly clean, perfectly quiet, perfectly delightful. Rest and recharge in this hidden gem. Host Jean Thornton was readily responsive even though off-site for our stay. It is an active stable and the staff were friendly and patient with our questions. Will definitely book again. Horse feeding tips, they like carrots and cored apples, seeds are not good for these majestic animals. DeLeon Springs State Park nearby is an excellent excursion.

Our only disappointment is that we stay longer! The property itself is beautiful and well kept. If you are a horse-lover, as we are, you will especially enjoy the grounds and stables. But, if not, you will still enjoy the natural beauty of the grounds. The cottage is exactly as it appears on VRBO and check in/check out was a breeze. The entire experience was one of ease and relaxation. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. Just 15 minutes away is the city of Deland, which is charming, and offers several restaurants, coffee shops, an arts museum, and interesting shops. We recommend it wholeheartedly!

Amazing get away

Our stay at this cottage was great, it felt extremely homey the kids truly enjoyed it getting to walk around and see the horses and view the landscape was truly a plus. We would definitely stay here again in the future for get aways.
