About this property

Perfect Maine Cottage Directly on the Coast

We are located directly on the coast.. versus on the "bay" or "harbor", and the views from this custom designed cottage are some of the nicest you will find. We are situated just high enough to provide protection from the ocean, but close enough to hear the waves and surf at all times of the day. Being so close to the water, the feeling in the cottage is a lot like being on a large boat. THERE IS NO ROAD and NO POWER LINES between OUR COTTAGE AND THE OPEN OCEAN. You have an unrestricted and very private view of the open Atlantic and surrounding islands and harbors from our deck. This is hard to find, even in Maine. Nobody walking or driving on a road between you and the sea? Priceless! We also allow most breeds of dogs for a modest fee, but PLEASE CONFIRM BEFORE BOOKING that your dogs age and breed are allowed. That the minimum age of any child is 10. Maximum guest size is 4 (four). The cottage features two queen sized beds, one on each floor, with access to a bathroom on each floor as well. Boothbay Harbor, with all it's charm, galleries, shopping and restuarants, is less than 10 minutes away. Our cottage is situated on a little known oceanfront drive. our quiet road is one of the best kept secrets around and offers views and ocean walks as nice as you will find, but with far fewer people than some areas. Imagine yourself on our deck with a sliver of moonlight coming across the Atlantic and right to you!

Awesome views, close to amenities

Views were wonderful, property was private and comfortable. Close to grocery stores and other amenities such as restaurants, ice cream, and downtown Boothbay.

This was such a magical week. The house and view are amazing. Close to everything we needed and easy to get to the area adventures, but also private enough to make it a perfect break from the rest of the world. We are already looking forward to getting back next year. Highly recommend this stay.

We truly loved our stay in the waterfront bungalow. Views were incomparable. Sounds of the water was intoxicating. Our host was super nice. This place and host deserve a 10 out of 10. Five stars is no enough.

Exactly what the Dr ordered.

This cottage was a little slice of perfect. Right on the ocean. When we took a tour boat cruise we saw the cottage from the boat, awesome. It’s very quite short of the waves crashing on the rocks, but to me that’s music. The cottage has everything you’d need short of groceries, but there’s a store a few miles away. Looking forward to our next trip!!

Absolutely amazing!

We had the most incredible stay here, and didn’t want to leave!! You are literally perched above the ocean with the lull of the waves relaxing you and a the most incredible view. It was so fun to drink coffee each morning while watching the lobster boats. The home is comfortable and well appointed with everything you need for a wonderful stay. We will definitely return to stay here again.

Awesome cottage with breathtaking views! There is no other cottage in Boothbay with such an awesome view. We saw a seal and dolphins right from our deck! We will definitely be back!

Week in East Boothbay

It's all about the view, of course, which is spectacular! But the cottage is very charming, comfortable and well equipped. This is our second visit to this particular property, and we definitely plan to return. Absolutely delightful.

Simply AMAZING!!

What a fantastic vacation retreat! The cottage is adorable, perfectly decorated, and very cozy. I came with a goal of reading a book, but couldn't take my eyes off of the water...the views are absolutely amazing....truly like a postcard! Scott was a pleasure to work with, and we can't wait to return!

Very good stay

The house is wonderful, right on the ocean with fantastic views. The house is secluded and quiet. The instructions by the owner were easy to follow, the same applies to the house electronics. As a small suggestion, the internet speed could be enhanced.

Beautiful location

The cottage is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. I enjoyed walking down the road and around the point to the coves every day (with my dogs). I spent a lot of time on the deck, just watching the boats go by or the ocean. Sunrise should not be missed! At the beginning of my stay a storm passed by. The waves were incredible. But being inside with the fireplace going made it amazing. Scott is an excellent host, communication was great. His paintings also hang in the cottage :)

Amazing time!

My husband, myself, and my mother stayed at this house for five days. It was so relaxing and peaceful in December. The view was breath taking for sure and the house was VERY clean and well equipped. We travel to BBH twice a year every year and this was our favorite rental so far. The only thing that slightly inconvenient was the state of the driveway. It was a mud pit the entire time we were there and it hadn’t rained. Some gravel is definitely needed there to fix that. Overall, I would 10/10 stay here again if given the opportunity.

Amazing views, adorable cottage

The cottage is charming. It is decorated nicely and has just about every kitchen utensil you could ask for. The master bedroom on the ground level is great for senior visitors. Children would probably enjoy the second bedroom in the loft.We also appreciated that we could take our dog. She loved being in the sun on the deck. The views are incredible.That and the deck outside overlooking the water were the best things about this property. It was unseasonably warm and humid during our stay, and there is no A/C. The breezes off the water were welcome, as were the many fans, but the humidity made everything feel wet and clammy. We would probably only choose to return in the fall or spring because of this. We know that Maine has traditionally not needed A/C near the coast, but, unfortunately, the climate is changing here as in the rest of the world. Scott was a very responsive host and we hope we can visit again- just not during the summer!

Magical time in Maine

We have visited the Boothbay region over a dozen times, but have never been in the winter time to see the Gardens Aglow at the Maine State Botanical Gardens. The Gardens were amazing, but the cottage made our trip magical. The property is exactly as described, but better. Your views include islands, open ocean, crashing waves, lobster boats, lobstering off your deck, birds and wildlife. The cottage is super cozy, comfortable, warm, bright and cheery. Everything you need is on site. Great communication with owner. We had a small problem with the propane and the issue was resolved by the owner within 2 hours. The location is perfect as you are a few minutes from Ocean Point and a few minutes from downtown. The neighborhood is quiet with very little traffic, so walks around the loop were peaceful and enjoyable. As a seasoned veteran of VRBO and Boothbay, this is the most complete and satisfying cottage we have ever stayed in. Can not say enough good things. Highly recommend this cottage!

Beautiful view...uncomfortable furniture

Let me first state the positives. You cannot...CANNOT...get a better view. It is right above the ocean and it is stunning. The area is quiet and serene. Beautiful! In the early morning, you do hear the lobster boats, but it's actually kind of lulling. There were some negatives. I think the furniture and the beds could be updated to be a bit more comfortable and in better condition. I had hoped for more comfortable outdoor furniture as well to sit in to enjoy the view. The shower is for shorter people (I'm 5'9). The rule of removing dog hair before you leave seemed a bit much for a place that allows pets. BUT, boy that view...the view is the best. Really stunning and the property manager was responsive. I would say about 3.8 stars, but 4 will do.

East Boothbay cottage stay

My husband and I stayed at this amazing little cottage in January 2020. We walked in and knew we would not want to leave this place for the entire week! We did, only to go for daily walks along the ocean and to eat! The good thing is there’s nothing to really do in Boothbay at this time of year, so its a good excuse to enjoy this comfy, but up-to -date cottage and it’s absolutely amazing view of the Atlantic! We were blessed...the first evening we enjoyed a snowy night, with the wind howling, as we were cozily reading our books in front of the beautiful stone gas fireplace. It was a fun experience. The remainder of the time, we woke to bright sun streaming in thru the wall of windows that face the ocean till well after noon. We were blessed with sunny days all week! One morning we actually sat outside reading from 8:45am-1:30pm. There was no wind and the sun was so warm, despite the 28* temperature! We truly wanted to stay another week. I made breakfast every morning and we ate lunch in too. Everything you could need is available in the modern and very clean kitchen. Granite counter tops and great gas stove. Theres also a small washer and dryer, I always love that. There were a few areas the cleaning lady could have cleaned a bit better... behind the two chairs next to the fireplace there were dust balls and under the couch...there was a dogs bone from previous renters. Other than that, I was very happy with the cleanliness. I’m quite picky too and my husband is in the cleaning business. The bedroom upstairs gets quite warm during the day...heat truly does rise! However, it’s the one we chose, because with the skylight open we could hear the waves at night and once we turned the heat down to 60* @ night we were fine. The views from upstairs are beautiful as well! Thank you Scott for sharing your home. We definitely want to come back!

Magical

Everything about this cottage was special. It was so clean, fully stocked with everything you could think of, and had views that were amazing. Sitting in the living room felt like being on a boat, you were that close to the water. You could hear the waves against the rocks each night from the main floor bedroom. Whether we were fogged in or could watch lobster boats right off the deck, each morning was magical. We can't wait to come back next year!!

Why they chose this property

The town of Boothbay Harbor is just five minutes away with many fine restaurants and great shopping. Whale watches, harbor cruises and a great botanical garden are availble all summer long. Ocean point with it's wonderful views is just up the road. The best part of our location is that it is a bit of a local secret. We have dramatic views, lots of great walks, great places to kayak, and all off the beaten tourist path, yet with everything you need to make a complete Maine vacation close at hand.

What makes this property unique

One of the best parts of staying at our cottage are the great opportunities for wildlife viewing. Although we can't promise what you will see from our deck, we have observed all of the following in the last year alone; Minke whales, Finn whales, seals, eagles, ospreys, porpise, and every type of sea bird and duck imaginable! Perhaps the very best part of staying at our cottage is what it doesn't have, and that is a road between you and the sea, and lots of people. No roads or powerlines come between you and the ocean, and that means no cars, no people walking past, and no noise. Just you and the wide open Atlantic! ( In 2019 a guest saw a Mola (giant sunfish, 1200 lbs!) anything is possible!
