Thank you! We welcome you back again at any of our Waves and Wilderness homes. Take care.
Doug & Rose were great about responding to our questions and requests in advance of our stay. The house was perfect for our extended family. The teens and kids had a blast in the movie/bedroom. Despite how old the house is, the floors did not creak at all! The backyard was adorable. Would highly recommend for your stay near Bar Harbor.

Thank you so much Cindy! We’re glad you loved the charm of the home and backyard, and you all had a blast in the game room & theater! We welcome you back at any of our Waves and Wilderness homes. Take care.
Very nicely and stylishly renovated old building. Gorgeous pond behind the property. Bathrooms are particularly well done. Comfortable beds. We stayed with 2 adults and 6 teens and it was perfect for this blend of ages. There is a hot tub and it worked very well. Location is ideal for a mix of time in the park, Bar Harbor and other adjacent areas. This property might be a challenge for families with older adults or very young children since there are a lot of steep stairs.

This is the PERFECT house for a bigger group. We had 13 people (4 families) and we all had our own ample space in the house. Plenty of bathrooms. It was extremely well-equipped. The owners truly thought of everything for all age groups. We had a 19-month old all the way up to a 70 year old, and everyone had everything they needed. Very cute with tons of character. The best setting for our family vacation.

Thank you! We welcome you back at any of our Waves and Wilderness homes.
The overall stay was excellent. Communication from the host was prompt and helpful. Check in and check out processes were straightforward and enumerated well. The home itself is right on the main drag, but quiet, especially given the age of the building. It has all of the charms you might expect from a home/business that had been built in the mid 1800s.There were tons of places to sleep, including the whole third floor, a bedroom on the second level with the kitchen and living area, and multiple sleeping options on the first floor, which was also the main entertainment area. Our children very much enjoyed the shuffleboard, air, hockey, and the theater room. The hot tub and charming backyard area were lovely. The location is convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, as well as other regional attractions. This is a great option for a family, or group of families, who want somewhere to stay that isn’t in the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but still close enough to everything there is to do regionally.

The house was perfect for our group of friends visiting Acadia/Bar Harbor for the weekend. It rained most of the weekend so having all the games and theatre space was perfect! Check in/out was very easy and Doug was super communicative. Thanks for a great stay - would love to visit again!

This location cannot be beat. And as a bird, wildlife and nature lover I liked that the back yard is a wildlife sanctuary. My yard at home has this designation also. Plenty of room for all of us and we had a wonderful week. Doug and Rose were always spot on in their replies. Very good managment. Thanks, Jackie
The house was great, spacious and fun.
The neighborhood was beautiful, including running water and a walkable And quiet cemetery/brook behind the house.
The owners did everything I can imagine to make the home helpful and accommodating, including many small details throughout. It was a great home away from home. The location is very central to Mt Desert Island / Arcadia National Park.

Thank you so much for your detailed review, it really helps others when deciding where to book. We’re glad you enjoyed the Mount Desert Island area, and our home. We welcome you back at any of our Waves and Wilderness locations!
The hosts are so hospitable and communication was also prompt and clear. You can tell they really took care of the house with the nice touches and decor. It is an old house with a lot of charm so you need to expect some chipped paint, short stairs, etc. The kids loved the theater section! There were plenty of beds for us 12. There was even a sound machine. I appreciated the AC which you don't have in a lot of older houses in Maine. They provided a thoughtful guide with recommendations and had a treat bag waiting for us when we arrived. The location is close to a lot of trails and only 10 to 15 minutes to the entrance of Cadillac Mountain, which was helpful for Sunrise. It was only 15 minutes to Bar Harbor and it was nice to get away from the busy town. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Thank you so much for your detailed review, it really helps others when deciding where to book! We welcome you back at any of our Waves and Wilderness homes, and are glad you had a great time in Maine.
We were 9 adults + 2 dogs who stayed for a week. Hosts provided lots of info on house and area. One of our group forgot a backpack and the hosts mailed it to them quickly. While the hosts are 5 stars, the house is 4 stars.
It's an old historic house so they have to work with what they have. The stairs are incredibly steep and there are small steps everywhere which is part of the charm but also can be scary walking down, particularly when carrying anything.
There are modern design choices that aren't great. Light switches for rooms can easily be in closet or the next room. The claw foot bathtub's faucet/overflow is so low in the bathtub that you can't fill it up halfway. There's dead space for a sofa in the media area in the interest of the lobster wall. The appliances were OK but some of the cookware was falling apart. It felt like the focus was on looking good for Insta.
The cleaners aren't focused on details - there was an old contact lens on a bedside table and the outdoor daybed was not made up. It had the cover laying over the cushion and looked like it hadn't been checked in awhile.
There are only 4 parking spaces - we were able to squeeze in a 5th car because all our cars were relatively small. We had thought there would be street parking nearby but didn't realize how busy of a street the house is on. It could have been the roadwork but street noise is very audible from inside the house.
Recommend for physically fit adults and dogs only. Bring only 4 cars.
