This house was immaculate and exactly as described! Very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The host was gracious and responded very quickly to questions I had during the booking process and after. We had a wonderful time and will definitely book again!
This property is everything you want and need in a vacation home rental. Its secluded, quiet, spacious, and has that home feeling. There was nothing that we felt the home lacked. I've been vacationing in the Bar Harbor region for over 30 years and this was by far the best home I've stayed in.

Thank you for your awesome review! We are so happy that you and your family (and your pup!) had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the home. Come back anytime! Best, Daria & Scott
We had a wonderful stay! We ate in most of the time and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need and more. The bedrooms worked out perfectly for us. And we had rented kayaks which we used on the easily accessible water. We had a campfire and the kids, age 7, 4, and 16 months got to roast marshmallows and have s ’mores. Thank you for such a lovely and memorable stay!

Thank you for your review. We're thrilled to hear about your wonderful stay with your family!
Our family had an absolutely amazing time in Acadia/Bar Harbor at this VRBO stay. The house was extremely clean, the view was absolutely beautiful, and the location couldn't have been better. The house and area were very quiet with plenty to do both inside and out. We would highly recommend this house and host.

Thank you for your kind review! We're so happy to hear the home was comfy and clean and had everything you needed. Have a great rest of your summer!
Unbelievable views! Two young kids had fun on the beach and climbing on the rocks. Our mini doodle loved playing ball in the fenced in yard. Best supplied house we ever stayed at. Kitchen had plenty of appliances and supplies. Lots of room to spread out! Rented kayaks, had a couple of camp fires, morning coffee on the deck -and not far from the park. Everyone loved it there.

We're thrilled you and your family had a great time at and that your mini doodle loved it too! Thank you for taking the time to post your view!
Had an excellent stay. The house is incredibly comfortable with lots and lots of room. There were 9 of us and we could have had more. Plenty of towels, toiletries, and basic household supplies. The bedding and decor is upscale. Made a camp fire 3 nights. Loved the beach and looking for creatures. Loved the back porch and sitting around the table when we weren’t visiting Bar Harbor, SW Harbor, NE Harbor, Echo Lake, Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, and many lobster pounds. Our host was great as well.

We are so happy to hear you all had a wonderful time in the area and enjoyed the home. We strive to keep things clean and comfortable and appreciate your kind words. Welcome back anytime!
This property was beautiful overall and a really fun, relaxing place to stay. The house is stylish, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and extremely well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare large meals, and the beds, furniture, blankets, and pillows were all very comfortable. The setting is a major highlight, with beautiful water and mountain views. The large deck connects to a fenced-in area that was perfect for our dog—we could relax outside without worrying about him wandering off.The private beach was amazing. A short stairway leads to a beautiful rocky beach with swimmable water and unobstructed views. We had kayaks delivered for our stay and could launch right from the beach, paddle to nearby islands, and see seals.A few minor drawbacks: the top-floor room can get warm during unusually hot weather. While much of MDI is within 20–30 minutes, there isn’t much immediately nearby. We’ve stayed closer to Southwest Harbor, where restaurants and hiking are more accessible. The house is also near a moderately busy road, so you hear some traffic, though it didn’t detract from our experience. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return and recommend it!
Wonderful home, unique location, very private, great stay!

Thank you for your review. So glad to hear you had a wonderful stay! Please let us know if there's anything specific that could be improved. Thank you. Daria & Scott
Spacious house with great views that was able to fit our three families. House is well stocked to allow for home-cooked meals and has plenty of seating and spaces for everyone to hang out and relax. Loved the water access and deck for sipping morning coffee with a view.
Home is located in a picture perfect setting, close to the park and restaurants, well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Charming, clean, and all-around lovely property!
We enjoyed every second we spent at this house and the location was perfect. It was quiet yet still close to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. Communication with the owners was excellent and we had everything that we needed for a week's stay.
The house was terrific. Location was perfect, layout was great for 4 couples, plenty of room and privacy when needed. We had our dog with us and he loved the fenced yard and comfy deck. All bedrooms were fully equipped as was the kitchen. Highly recommend.
This house is incredible! The location is perfect to day trip, enjoy the park, Bar Harbor or just relax and take in the views from the backyard. Can’t wait to book again!
The property was better than we expected! We enjoyed the beautiful morning sunrise each day and relaxing on the private beach. Close enough to explore local areas but secluded enough for a peaceful retreat. Home was fully stocked with tons of room for everyone. Would love to stay here again.
Beautiful views and access to the water. Water shoes required due to rocks and some glass though! Yard was fenced in for the pup and the house was perfectly set up for our family - we rented a kayak which we all used and the drive to Acadia was a short 15 minutes - we loved it!
We had amazing week in Maine, and loved our time at this home. Very comfortable house with all of the amenities, spectacular views, easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We rented kayaks from a nearby business and enjoyed time on the water, and also enjoyed hiking and biking in the national park.

About the host
Hosted by Daria Duda
Scott & Daria have been visiting the Bar Harbor area for many years and fell in the love with the area. They purchased Western Bay Shores in 2012, and another property a few miles away in 2014 and manage a 3rd property close by. They enjoy time here in the off-seasons as well. Back in Philadelphia, Scott is known for his award-winning beer, and helping new start-up breweries, while Daria works in marketing at a technology company.
Why they chose this property
When Scott & Daria bought Western Bay Shores, the former owners provided a comprehensive 'book' of everything about the house - ending their description with 'It's a special place.' This statement couldn't be more true … you'll find relaxation and enjoyment here at this home - it truly is a special place and we are happy that we can have our guests enjoy this slice of Maine as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Moon rise over the water - truly awesome, especially during a full moon. And the sunrises can be spectacular.
