The property was absolutely beautiful, with incredible views and perfect weather to enjoy it all. The nearby hiking was fantastic, and we had such a wonderful time. We especially loved the wood-burning fireplace in the cabin, and there was plenty of firewood to keep it going. It’s a truly special place, and the host was very accessible, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would love to return!

Liked: Cleanliness, communication, location
Disliked: Check-in, listing accuracy
The place was nice and the location, situated in the woods by a lake, was lovely. However, if I would have known about a few items in advance, I would have thought twice about renting this place, especially for the cost charged. We went in September and it was 30/40's at night and there was no heat except for a small baseboard heater in the bedroom and the wood stove in the main room. Only 2 of the 4 stove burners worked, the microwave didn't open/close without turning it off between uses, and there was no toaster. Although some of these are relatively minor, I don't believe this place was worth the price.

I am sorry to hear that you feel this way, however, at least you recognized the beautiful setting and location.
I accommodated your late arrival after you arrived 20 hours behind schedule, and I also waived the dog fee for you.
Regarding the heat, my caretaker demonstrated how to use the woodstove, built an initial fire for you, and ensured there was free unlimited supply of dry firewood available for your use. The electric baseboard in the bedroom is sufficient for the space. The heating setup is also clearly stated in the property description.
As for the appliances, the microwave is new, so I will have it checked to ensure it is functioning properly. Regarding the stove burners, my caretaker inspected them and found that it was simply a matter of loose wires under the burner top, which was a quick fix. I appreciate your understanding that these were minor issues.
This property was absolutely beautiful. Andrew and the caretaker, Bob, were extremely helpful and great communicators. The cabin and property were fantastic. Our family enjoyed the beach and lake as well as the cozy cabin. We would recommend this to anyone looking for quiet retreat in the stuffing Maine woods.
Beautiful and peaceful. This was the perfect place to stay for us to enjoy the beauty of the area but be able to get away from some of the crowds. The property was beautifully maintained and the lake goes on forever - great kayaking ! Couldn’t ask for more !
Amazing! We stayed here 4 nights with our pup and did not want to leave. The cabin has everything you will need and was very comfortable. Peaceful, amazing views, beautiful lake and private beach. Andrew was very accommodating and always responded quickly. Highly recommend and we plan on going back next year!
Very clean and comfortable cabin with everything we needed for 4 days. The lake was crystal clear and refreshing. Fantastic hiking within 2 miles. Canadian border 80 minutes away and a beautiful State Park in Lubec Maine. Lots of reading and cribbage especially in the middle of hurricane Lee. Loved our 4 day getaway
Andrew's private oasis in Maine met every expectation for our family. Quiet, serene, with unbelievable lake and mountain views from a secluded private cove and beach. Everything you need is present, from kayaks to paddle boards, canoes, adirondack chairs, beach umbrellas, cornhole boards, etc. Even the mile long drive onto the property is amazing! The cabin was perfect for me, my wife and two adult sons, with plenty of space to relax inside or outside on the screened in porch. Everything you need is there, from all the common household appliances, dishware, glassware, etc, and a gas grill outside as a cooking option. We spent most days in the water, which is spring fed and absolutely crystal clear, or on the beach taking in the sun. Sunsets in the evenings are absolutely stunning, with the sun disappearing over Spring River Lake and behind the mountains in the distance. We hiked to the top of Tunk Mountain (not for the faint of heart), and hiked various other trails in the immediate area, barely scratching the surface of the available hiking options. Amazing vistas await on almost every trail. We also spent a day in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, which are roughly an hour away and include endless hiking and sight seeing opportunities.Evenings were spent on the beach with cocktails and in the screened in porch playing available board games, which was quite enjoyable for my family. Overall, this property met or exceeded every expectation -- we will be back.
Without a doubt the best place we have ever stayed. The property is absolutely stunning- and has everything you need for a perfect Maine experience. Private beach, private hikes, and lake to yourself to kayak, canoe and swim, or enjoy a book in the hammock. The cabin is immaculate with gorgeous lake views- steps away from a beautiful beach and incredible mountain views. Our dog could not have been happier. Andrew is a super host and goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are well taken care of. His recommendations for food and hikes allowed for an authentic Maine visit. While the local area has everything you need, Acadia and Bar Harbor are very close. Couldn't recommend this place more.
We had a wonderful time at this cottage. It was so peaceful and beautiful here. The cottage was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable! We slept like bears in the woods! The property was about an hour from Acadia but we didn’t mind the drive at all, especially this time of year with the leaves changing. The WiFi worked well with our phones but not with the laptop so don’t plan on working at all, which was great to completely turn off work. I am sure in the summer this place would be a great escape with so much to do right at the beach. We brought games and a puzzle that kept us busy in front of the warm fireplace. The weather was good for us so we were able to hike nearby. The property can be difficult to locate the first time so going in daylight will be best. Once you know where the driveway is, it was fine to find again. If you plan to go at a cooler time of year be sure to pack extra blankets, warm clothes, pajama's and warm socks. It was very cold when we arrived. There is only one small electric baseboard heater in one bedroom, it did keep us warm enough at night but that would be my ONLY complaint. It was wonderful and I’d love to come back again!

Thank you Danielle for you review. Very kind of you! I am surprised to hear that the internet didn't work well. It is Starlink and usually better than a broadband connection. People have often had work vacations from there without any issue, even commenting on how good the connection is. Perhaps there was a system error that could have been corrected. Hopefully you were able to also use the wood stove fireplace for heat as well. Once going it can cook people out of the cabin with heat.
We hope to have you visit again.

My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend away at this location, and it was cozy, clean, and bright. If you're looking to slow down, explore the lake, and relax by the fire, this is the right location for you! My dog had a great time playing fetch on the private beach as well!
Fantastic cabin in the woods with gorgeous beach and terrific views. All of the photos are 100% accurate, only the property and the surrounding area is much more beautiful than shown. Highest recommendations on all aspects of the visit. Many thanks!
private lake, cabin in the woods, great hiking trails. clean and rustic, but not a bare-bones rustic cabin. very comfortable bed. hated to leave, will certainly return and highly recommend.
We had a great time!
Cabin was spotless and well appointed.
Many toys to enjoy…canoe, kayaks.
A rare private beach with our own chairs and hammocks. We used this for our base for exploring the “Down east Maine coast.
Great quiet retreat with WiFi…
If you want to get away here’s your place. Close to Ellsville and cute downtown.
This was a beautiful, quite retreat. Breathing views every day. Impeccable cleanliness. Thank you Andrew for preserving the gifts of quite and beauty. And thank you Bob for your detail to cleanliness
A unique and beautiful property and cabin. Everything you need in one place and no fuss. Very enjoyable nature, lake, views, walks and hikes. We really look forwards to returning.
Beautiful Getaway Property, remote but "close enough"
Just the type of spot we look for:
-- Rustic but very clean
-- No TV and passable internet if you can't tune out (likely not strong or reliable enough for streaming)
-- Beautiful property and views (we were there late in the season so didn't swim)
-- Many great hikes nearby
-- One-half hour +/- from everything crowded. Close enough to go (Acadia, towns with restaurants, etc.), but far enough away to get away.
--- Restaurant recommendations were really good -- not tourist joints -- don't miss Perry's for lobster right from the sea
We are working to arrange renting the whole property with friends next year. A true Maine experience.
My husband, dog, and I stayed for a week in one of Andrew's lakeside cabins and it was just divine. Perfectly remote, beautiful scenery, and proximity to incredible hiking! What more could you want?!
From the moment my family and I arrived on this property and all through the week, I repeatedly found myself saying “this is heaven on earth.” The cabin we stayed in was beautiful, nicely appointed and immaculately clean. The beach is a true beach and at times, since it was a bit windy for the last few days of our stay, it was as if we were staying along the ocean coast. The water in the lake is so clear and clean it is amazing. We took many hikes and bike rides, and the owner (Andrew) could not have been more accommodating or easier to get in touch with. This location will most definitely be on our “must return” list next year, and likely for many more years to come!!
I had the BEST time! The boathouse was very nicely decorated, had lots of amenities and was very clean. The lake and it's beach were the perfect spot to relax after a day of hiking. The location was great too - felt secluded but also close to nearby hiking and Acadia. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This property was perfect for our family getaway (including dog!): right on beautiful lake, lovely sand beach complete with hammock, floating dock for diving/fishing, canoe/kayaks supplied; no need to leave property except for supplies. Owner readily accessible for any questions/needs. The property looked great on VRBO, was even better in person! Thanks Andrew.
