The Space:

The crisp mountain air brushes against the pine‑scented woods as the sun dips behind the tall peaks, casting a soft amber glow over the wraparound deck. Steam rises from the hot tub while the fire pit crackles, and inside the wood‑burning fireplace flickers, inviting you to unwind after a day of exploring. In this loft‑style chalet you can settle into quiet evenings, hear the gentle rush of the stream behind the house, and feel the stillness of a winter mountain escape.

Sleeping arrangements

The chalet sleeps up to 10 guests. Upstairs, a king bedroom nestles beneath the peaked ceiling, offering a spacious retreat. On the main level, two bedrooms each feature queen over queen bunk beds, perfect for families or groups. All linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided for comfort on colder nights.

Bathroom & laundry

One full bathroom includes a bathtub and bathroom essentials. A washer and dryer are available, making longer stays and winter gear easy to manage.

Kitchen & dining

The fully stocked kitchen holds everything needed to prepare meals, from morning coffee to hearty dinners. A dedicated dining table sits nearby, framed by quiet forest views, creating a relaxed setting for shared meals and board games by the fire.

Outdoor living

Step onto the wraparound deck to grill, soak in the hot tub, or simply breathe the pine‑filled air. The private backyard opens to a spacious yard where a natural stream flows just behind the house. Even in cooler months, the fire pit offers a welcoming spot to roast s’mores and watch the clear night sky.

Family & pet‑friendly features

The chalet welcomes families and dogs, with children’s books, toys, board games, and children’s dinnerware ready for use. A private entrance, free on‑site parking, and self‑check‑in via lockbox make arrivals simple and flexible.

Neighborhood

Located on a one‑acre wooded lot in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, Tall Peak Chalet is a short drive from Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, and Winchester. Nearby you’ll find shops, restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and seasonal outdoor activities, giving you a peaceful balance of nature and convenience.

Practical notes

Wi‑Fi is included, though the remote setting can make service slower or spotty; downloading important content in advance is recommended. The cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but natural leaves and pollen may still be present, especially during certain seasons. Enjoy the stillness, the warmth of the fire, and the gentle sounds of the woods during your stay.

The house has real potential, but also has real problems. It needs some maintenance in a major way. The toilet won’t flush. The faucet in the bathtub fell off. The grill had not been cleaned in so long that it broke out into a fire. When communicated these problems with the host, the response was I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our handyman fix it after you leave. Frankly, I wanted it fixed while we were there. They also did not provide the necessary materials for cleaning dishes. There was no way to plug the sink and no dishtub and no scrubby and no dish towels. we purchased these items ourselves just so we could use the kitchen.this is all a real shame because the beds were very comfortable. The house had a nice fire pit and decks. The furniture was adequate. It just needed some major maintenance.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
