About this property

Cozy Chalet, 5-acres, Newly Renovated with WiFi, Deck, Fire Pit & Grill

The Nest is a chalet-style cabin tucked into the tree-lined mountains of Berkeley County, WV. It offers adventure, a quiet retreat & good family fun.

With 5-acres in the countryside, you'll enjoy star studded skies on clear nights & wake up to birds singing & deer wandering, with mountain views through vaulted windows.

The Nest is near Martinsburg, Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, Charles Town & Cacapon State Park, among other go-to destinations on the Eastern Panhandle.

****A Little About Our Home****

A quiet sanctuary, The Nest Chalet provides relaxation, privacy, the outdoors and quality time with friends and family, with a break from the day-to-day hustle and bustle.

At The Nest, guests will enjoy:

- A light-filled space with central AC/heating and a spacious Loft and Master Bedroom. Both rooms have sky lights and big windows (this means sunshine comes through in the morning).

- The Master is on the main floor. It includes a private work space and porch, making The Nest perfect to enjoy a break from the office, while working remotely for the week. We upgraded our home to include satellite internet and are delighted that guests can check email, browse the internet, stream and video conference as needed.

-The Loft is spacious and airy, featuring a Queen size bed as well as a Korean-style full bed. The loft includes a window to star gaze from and a portable crib for infants.

- A modern, fully stocked kitchen with microwave, oven, InstantPot, Ninja Blender, toaster, coffee/tea, pots and pans, olive oil, and a well stocked spice rack. We strive to provide quality dishes, knives, glasses and utensils, as well as kid-friendly plastic plates and cups.

- A large communal deck that includes a Weber Grill and Polywood outdoor dining table with umbrella to have delicious meals and take in the outdoors on a beautiful day.

- Board games, books, smart television and fast WiFi in case you want some cozy time indoors.

- Clean linens and fresh towels as well as complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and other products in case you forget yours at home.

- A large yard where you can relax and take in the breeze while laying in the hammock or hanging out on the porch swing.

- A fire pit with comfortable Polywood chairs to enjoy s’mores in the evening

- Stunning sunsets/sunrises with sightings of deer, rabbits, turtles and the occasional fox from the deck.

Our property sits on old logging trails and the yard is perfect for running around with little ones or your pup. If you'd like to stretch your legs and explore, the path off of the driveway offers a short stroll in the woods.

The Nest is in a mountain neighborhood in the countryside so you can enjoy privacy at the property and beautiful surroundings, but it is also located near the Eastern Panhandle's go-to destinations.

This includes Martinsburg (~15 miles) where you can enjoy fresh farm produce and delicious bites, a charming old town and cute cafes/eateries; Berkeley Springs (~30 miles) where you can enjoy hot springs, antique shops and cafes; Shepherdstown (~25 miles) and Charles Town (~23 miles) for terrific restaurants, breweries and old town charm; and Harpers Ferry (~30 miles) and Cacapon Resort State Park (~20 miles) for outdoor adventures, including hiking, whitewater rafting, kayaking and more. The Eastern Panhandle also has significant history to explore throughout.

We invite you to enjoy West Virginia's wild and wonderful by day and retreat to The Nest for gorgeous sunsets and star-filled skies by night. Or you can never leave: curl up with a book, enjoy game night with loved ones, the serene tree-lined mountain views from our deck, and a stroll through our 5-acre property while hanging out with the wildlife.

****This Time of Year****
Summer is here at The Nest! Wake up to deer curiously grazing in our yard and gorgeous birds between the trees. Our large yard is also perfect for games and to stretch your legs.

West Virginia's outdoors is incredible this time of year. For hiking, water sports, horseback riding, fishing and scenic trips in historical WV, this is the time of year to explore and enjoy all of the wonderful WV has to offer. We hope you come out to enjoy it!

****A Little About Our Location****

The Nest Chalet is located in a quiet neighborhood on a 5-acre wooded property, so people can truly enjoy privacy and the natural beauty of this place.

The drive up from Virginia (coming from Winchester) or West Virginia (coming from Martinsburg) is gorgeous in either direction, with tree-lined roads and a couple family-owned wineries on one side, and big farms and apple orchards on the other!

For planning purposes, the closest grocery store is DG Market on Apple Harvest Drive and it is an 8-minute drive from our home. The closest town with gas stations, grocery stores, and food options is Inwood and is about an 15-minute drive from our home. Neighboring Martinsburg has grocery stores, restaurants and a cute downtown area. It is about 16 miles from our home and a 25-minute drive.

Please see our house manual for local recommendations in Martinsburg, Winchester, Berkeley Springs, Shepherdstown, Harper’s Ferry and beyond.

****Getting Around****

You will need a car. Most times of year, any car will be just fine getting up here.

During the winter (November - February), if it is snowing, we strongly recommend 4-wheel drive (and chains for your tires).

Our neighborhood has gravel roads, so please do drive slowly.

We have plenty of space for parking on the property.

If you’re coming from DC, there is a MARC train that comes into Martinsburg once a day. Our home is a 25-minute drive from the train station.

Quiet mountain stay

We had a wonderful time at this cute and cozy mountain home. We came up to West Virginia to visit family that lives in the area. It was such a nice respite to come back to every evening and relax. The decor is lovely and so much attention to detail. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked. We had everything we needed and will come back again. The hosts were clear in communication and gave us many wonderful ideas for places to eat and things to do.

Beautiful Property

The property was as described and pictured. The house was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was easy to work in and had plenty of amenities. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and in the kitchen, as well as, paper and toiletry products. A previous review had noted hearing gunfire during their stay. We did hear them firing at times from the practice range off in the distance but it was not loud, did not bother us nor was it concerning. The hosts were very responsive to questions and comments. We would highly recommend this property to others.

Nice little place

Property is exactly as listed. Very nice house. I am a clean freak and this property was as clean as it could’ve been so this is a major plus for me. The property is a little too far from town which wasn’t too big of a problem for this stay but we prefer being not so far out. If you like to sleep past 7am then this place is not for you. The skylights are right above the beds so as soon as the sun rises you’ll be awake. The neighbors left us alone but I believe there is some sort of shooting range close by, there was a good bit of gun shots during our stay. The owners were very kind and quickly to respond to any questions we had. Pros- clean, nice property, everything we needed was there, Cons- too far away from gas stations & restaurants, skylights, gun shots
