Studio in Lake Leelanau with outside entrance, king bed, & WiFi
Studio in Lake Leelanau with outside entrance, This simple but peaceful property in the woods features a king bed, bathroom with shower, mini refrigerator with small freezer, and WiFi. The perfect base for exploring the Leelanau County area. We look forward to hosting you at our place. **** Please read all of the listing description and look at all pictures. Message me with any questions. Each room has a King Bed, Fan, space heater, a few chairs, and a Mini-Refridgerator, basic table for work or for eating --nothing fancy. There is NO TV. NO AC. Our WIFI is high speed and is excellent, as long as the cable companies are not having issues, such as a power outage. **** Please Note: Furnishings are intentionally functional rather than plush, with minimal rugs, mats, decorations, or knickknacks. This is so surfaces can be cleaned and sanitized completely between guests. Perhaps, over time, I may add some decorative pieces. I find that everyone's tastes vary greatly, and so for now, I take the minimalist approach. **** Please Note: I have allergies to dogs, cats, and other animals. Therefore, I have a strict no animals policy. No exceptions. This is my personal house that I live in. There are many animal friendly hotels and short-term rentals in the area already. Improvements to the property will be accomplished over time. We are not striving for the look of a suburban house out in the country with perfectly manicured and watered lawns and gardens. We will stay more rustic and natural. No lake view from the rooms. Trees are way too overgrown, and one of the rooms faces the opposite direction of the lake. We are located 1/2 mile from Lake Leelanau access, and 4.5 miles from Leland with their Lake Michigan Beach off of "Fishtown." Good Harbor Bay Beach is 8 miles away. For the 2026 season there will be no breakfast offered.
Rooms will be available through the fall, winter, and spring, as well as the summer season. Inquire with host about reduced "off-season," and/or multiple nights pricing.
A sufficient vehicle, such as a truck or suv, is recommended for snowy weather. Please message me with any special requests.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Our stay was pleasant, the studio room was very large, clean and comfortable. Owner communicated often and was flexible and accommodating on check-in time.
Nice room for a reasonable price. The place was clean, had a mini fridge (fairly large for a mini fridge) and microwave available. King size bed was also appreciated. Curtain for the bathroom area is a little odd, but not a big deal

Thanks for your review Eric. It was a pleasure to host you!
Everything was great about the property except the fact that the door didn’t lock from the outside. Very nice host though with a thorough check in process.

There IS a suitable lock on the door, so it can be locked from the outside. I demonstrated to you how it works. Very uncomplicated.
Thank you for the, otherwise, very nice review.
No complaints! Jeane was very nice and welcoming. Made sure i had everything i needed. Was accomodating with the check in and check out times. The place was clean. No A/C unit but somehow still not hot on an 80 degree day. Cools off a lot at night. I would stay here again for sure.

Thank you for your very thoughtful review. You were a great guest, and are always welcome here!
Also, thank you for your excellent communications.
Rips in screens do to squirrels, no way to lock door when leaving except for a bike lock. No railing on ramp leading to unit. A few solar lights on Manmade rough terrain path to unit. Night light doesn’t work. No wifi or internet. The other unit might lock their unit. Don’t leave valuables in unit as really no way to lock Parking is on foot high weeds. Issues with hot water heater. Temp is high. Warned about the temperature screens aren’t fixed because squirrels will just rip again. A nightmare. Not what was expected

There will be absolutely NO refund.
There There will be absolutely NO refund.
There is a strict “no refund for cancellations” policy in place.
This is also the busiest time of the year.
Everything is as pictures on listings show.
Ramp is up to code, and pictures clearly show no rails. Lights all work fine.Lock works as good as any lock.Spectrun Cable Internet/WIFI are excellent. However, you never even looked at the WIFI password that I showed you. We live in the woods, as stated in listing. I do not fight mother nature, aka, squirrels.
The tear in screen on the bottom edge at the rear side of porch from squirrels is a non-issue. They simply re-tear it, if repaired. We clearly state in listing that we do not have and will never have the manicured suburban “cottage” look. We are more rustic and simple.
There are plenty of different types of listings to choose from. Most of them are more expensive and charge extra “fees.”
The grounds from parking area to the rooms — a very short distance — are fine and safe to walk on, and are clearly shown in pictures in listing.
If you have mobility issues, you should seek out lodging that specifically offers special features for the mobility impaired.
I would suggest, in the future, that prior to booking a listing, that you completely read the descriptions, view all of the pictures, and then message host with any questions or any special needs. is a strict “no refund for cancellations” policy in place. You, obviously, only stopped, briefly, to find a fault to get out of your reservation.

Overpriced and awkward
We came for a short overnight stay. The property manager met us upon arrival. The short tour provided was unnecessary and awkward. I could’ve done without complaints of previous guests and detailed explanations. The unit was very cold upon arrival, and we were informed the furnace wouldn’t be on until October. There was a space heater available but it didn’t shut off automatically leading to us waking up sweating in the middle of the night. There wasn’t a coffeemaker in the unit, but it was provided upon request. The walls were paper thin, and we were woken up early by neighbors in the adjacent unit. The furnishings and layout were… interesting. The fold up table serving as a desk was an interesting choice. As were the binder clips holding together curtains. I was also surprised there was no TV and that we couldn’t lock the unit when we left for dinner. Hope you don’t need privacy, the bathroom is separated from the bedroom with a curtain and room dividers. If we had paid less than $100/night, none of these things would be terribly irksome, but for over $200 a night after taxes and fees I’d expect more traditional amenities and a more hospitable host.

Thank you for review.I agree that I should not have mentioned a recent anonymous guest who smashed previous steel bed, broke lamps, and other items. It makes me apprehensive now greeting guests that I can find no reviews of.Thanks for pointing that out.The multiple photos on listing are there to give a visual of floor plan layout, so there will be no misunderstandings.I impulsively used the binder clips thinking they worked just fine, but I guess in the greater scheme of things they appear tacky. I will work on replacing with something else. These rooms will never have TV’s.Most guests bring laptops these days.We had unusual and sudden cold, which will be gone tomorrow and back in the 80’s.The furnace company inspects and services the furnace every year near the end of September, and then turns it on.The space heater is plenty adequate and has remote control temp adjustment.Although it has not been a problem, perhaps I will look into some accustic application to buffer walls more.My prices are inline with this area for this time of year. I don’t require minimum 2-3 day stays or charge extra cleaning fees.I offer discounts for weekdays, 2-3 day stays and off-season.I certainly appreciate the hundreds of wonderful guests that I have hosted, who have been satisfied because they looked at the listing photos and asked questions prior to booking. Every one is different and likes different things. That is why there is a variety of very different listings available.
