About this property

Secluded Monterey Bay Beach Front Home. No shoes required.

This is our family owned beach get-away.

The 3 bedrooms include a master with a king size bed and an attached bathroom. From the master bedroom there is access through a sliding glass door out to the ocean front deck. From the bed you can see/hear the waves breaking on the beach. The second bedroom is a simple room with a queen size bed. The third bedroom has been used as the 'kids room'. It has a Queen sized and a twin bunk bed with a twin trundle bed under the bunk. 4 kids usually sleep in this room but adults could certainly bunk here as well, the bunk beds are very sturdy.

The second bathroom has a shower/bathtub.

The living room area has a large couch for relaxing, a wood burning fireplace that gets a lot of use at night (wood included). We have Dish Network, 50 inch flat screen, DVD player (with movies), and a sound system for listening to music on your digital music player (iPhone). We have several board games and books which live in this area.

The Kitchen and Dining area is off the living area. The dining table can accommodate 8 people. The view from the dining area is incredible, if feels like you can touch the water. You can literally see whales spouting while eating cheese and drinking wine from the dining area. The kitchen has everything you need to cook the fish you can buy from the world class Phil's Fish Market down the road.

There is a washer and dryer in the hall closet.

The front deck has a closed in area surrounded by pine trees. We have a Weber and a Smoker for BBQ. There is a nice fire pit for late night fires and smores for the kids...or adults. On the side there is a hammock for relaxing above the pine trees. The nice thing about our home is that we have no neighbors to the north of us, ours is the first unit, so you have unobstructed views of the dunes from here, very quiet and private.

The back deck gets the most use. Views as far as you can see, you can sit out here for hours watching the surf, birds, and whales if you are lucky.

There is a two car unattached garage which is used as a toy holder. There is plenty of outdoor parking, room for at least 4 vehicles. In the garage we have a ping pong table with paddles and balls, a beach cruiser for taking a ride, and a bunch of beach toys for both kids and adults.

There is a recreational facility about a 5 minute walk, or 1 minute drive if you are lugging a cooler and toys. It is only open to owners or renters of the Monterey Dunes. It has very nice tennis courts, bocce ball court, basketball court, shuffleboard, swimming pool, hot tub, sand volleyball court, and bathrooms with showers and changing quarters. The recreational area is literally cut out of the dunes, you are surrounded by beauty.

Family getaway
We liked the house and the location and the accessibility of it as one of our family is disabled, everything was really nice, except there was a problem with the accessible shower that owner failed to communicate with us about, but other than that house was perfect for us, loved being by the beach and hearing the waves and all the things the house had to do, the board games and the game room with the ping pong table, and Monterey being nearby with the aquarium. Overall a really nice place to be.

Relaxing Time
We had a wonderful stay in this newly updated house. We have been renting homes at the Dunes since 1989 and this was, by far, the nicest house we have stayed in. We will definitely try to rent it again.

We have as a family stayed in this property many times. The owners listing and price are honestly reflected. Recently remodeled, the update is beautiful and genuinely is wheelchair handicap accessible. This is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place for a laid back soul filling stay.

Birthday at the Beach
This was our third stay at this particular property. It is lovely, with wonderful recent upgrades in the kitchen and both bathrooms. It is nicely appointed and the location can't be beat. The owners are attentive and responsive if any issues arise. We hope to come again.

A secluded gem!
Location! Location! We loved the modern finishes and the heating worked very well as it was frigid during our stay. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything you need to cook. They even have a brand-new waffle maker, which my daughter loved. The private beach sealed the deal. During our stay, nobody was there. It’s like we owned a private island. The host was responsive to our requests. The only thing that could be improved is cleaning in obscure places. We found a sock between the couch pillows and loose potato chips in a bedroom dresser. I’ll be back!

Our family moved to Los Gatos in 1977 due to a job transfer. I retired in 2004 as VP and Controller of The Cooper Companies, Inc., a NYSE listed providor of contatact lenses and womens' healthcare systems and devices. We are very family oriented - Love to have reunions here, go kyacking in the Elkhorn Slew, go whale watching etc.etc.

Why they chose this property

Monterey Dunes is: Remote, beautiful, close to Monterey, Bayonet golf course, etc. Kids can walk from the house about 50 yards to the beach without having to cross any streets. The view theough the glass wall of the dining room is stunning, particularly the sunset over the water. You can pretty much do whatever you'd like, including nothing! There is a wonderful game area that includes tennis courts, bocce court, pool, hot tub, etc.

What makes this property unique

My wife is in a wheelchair, so there are ramps installed to allow easy access/egress. We have redocorated recently, including setting up the garage as a game room - Ping pong, etc. We have no neighbor on our right. Just beautiful dunes. It will never be built on. We have a gigantic owl living in a pine tree on our property. We have WIFI and a new flat screen HD tv.
