This place was really unique, super clean, and it was so quiet and peaceful! We all loved it! Super communication with the owner, and well supplied with everything we needed. The decor was also very cool and serene.
We had a wonderful stay! There were a few minor issues, but Jeet was quick to respond and correct the issues. The home is comfortable and has everything you need. Great location!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
The place was very clean and organized. Plenty of dishes and utensils to make meals. What was unpleasant about the home is how open it is and the fact someone can be in the loft and look into all the rooms including the master bathroom. You can hear everything. So if someone is sleeping to have the television on is not conducive. Now as far as the electricity. We were there for a week and the electricity went out 4 of those days. The longest was over 8 hours and the shortest was approximately 4-5 hours. The generator never kicked in. My husband has to use a CPAP machine and oxygen. Therefore, he didn't get sleep. The one night it went out before 10 pm and didn't come back on until almost 6:30am. It was very cloudy on several days with some light rain on others. Because of the clouds the solar didn't charge well. I can't even imagine how bad it is now with all the smoke because of the fires. The internet is limited and therefore if you are wanting a semi working or just a working stay, I would not recommend. It is quiet and peaceful. If it is just a couple then would be okay so long as aware of the limitations, therefore you can prepare. These things were not stated in the listing of the property but listed in the guest book for the house.

Hi Cathryn,
My apologies on the solar system shut down. I did not receive any messages from you or I could have come out or have a technician come out to try and fix the issue. We are not sure why the generator is not kicking on. Normally this should have backed the system up.
We will work on these issues and thank you for your feedback.

The perfect house for us. Will definitely be back !!Jeet was super responsive with all our queries about the solar power. House was immaculate. Loved the one floor flat living. Appreciated the dishwasher and full sized washer and dryer. Kitchen was well stocked and easy to navigate. We cooked almost every day during our two week stay. The radiant heat in the floor was super efficient. We only used it first thing in the morning and in the evening for a few hours once the sun went down. The house is oriented well and held the warmth. Views were phenomenal!!!!Because of the really cool vaulted circular ceiling, most of the walls do not go all the way up. Not an issue for us because it was just me and my husband and sometimes my visiting grandson napping. But sound does travel, so keep that in mind and bring your headphones for solo iPad watching! That said, TV in living room was great and we watched the Olympics together when we weren't out exploring. Our standard poodle was traveling with us and did just fine off-leash on the property. If you have a wandering dog, you might need a GPS collar to keep your pup from following the deer into the hinterlands. A big bonus for us was learning more about solar. We are now considering adding it to our house in Alabama. Thanks Jeet for a great stay!!
I grew up in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado with Durango Co being my home now for many years. Hiking, camping, mountain biking, and rafting are the things I love doing. I am excited to share the magic of Discovery with others.
Why they chose this property
Epic views and quietude away from any crowds in the unusual uncrowded La Garita National Forest area. The sky is vast with amazing sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing.
What makes this property unique
Discovery is a cool round solar home...not your typical box. It sits on 80 acres abutting national forest for ample privacy. One can see 100 miles of Sangre De Cristo mtn views into New Mexico on clear days.
