Welcome to this delightful house in the Del Norte area. With 2 bedrooms including 2 queen beds and a loft for yoga and or sleeping on a full futon bed, meditating and sleeping. This cool retreat is perfect for small families or friends looking for a relaxing getaway. Enjoy the convenience of amenities like a full well equipped kitchen, in-floor radiant heating, wood stove, outdoor grill, and dining area with sweeping views. The 2 bathrooms have Mexican Talavera sinks, and Moroccan tile. Plus, there's a cozy private sitting room. Fall in love with the serenity of the La Garita's Mountains and enjoy the magic it has to offer. A great place to relax and gaze out at the spectacular Sangre de Cristo mountains.
Drop back in time and hike or bike Penitente Canyon, Elephant Rocks, and the many quiet trails and two tracks in the area. Nearby is quaint classic western town Del Norte with restaurants and shopping. Explore the nearby Great Sand Dunes, historic San Luis Valley and Rio Grande river activities.

Do not leave any food in the refrigerator. Especially perishable food. Leave the place as you found it (neat and tidy).

The perfect house for us. Will definitely be back !!Jeet was super responsive with all our queries about the solar power. House was immaculate. Loved the one floor flat living. Appreciated the dishwasher and full sized washer and dryer. Kitchen was well stocked and easy to navigate. We cooked almost every day during our two week stay. The radiant heat in the floor was super efficient. We only used it first thing in the morning and in the evening for a few hours once the sun went down. The house is oriented well and held the warmth. Views were phenomenal!!!!Because of the really cool vaulted circular ceiling, most of the walls do not go all the way up. Not an issue for us because it was just me and my husband and sometimes my visiting grandson napping. But sound does travel, so keep that in mind and bring your headphones for solo iPad watching! That said, TV in living room was great and we watched the Olympics together when we weren't out exploring. Our standard poodle was traveling with us and did just fine off-leash on the property. If you have a wandering dog, you might need a GPS collar to keep your pup from following the deer into the hinterlands. A big bonus for us was learning more about solar. We are now considering adding it to our house in Alabama. Thanks Jeet for a great stay!!

Epic views and quietude away from any crowds in the unusual uncrowded La Garita National Forest area. The sky is vast with amazing sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing.

What makes this property unique

Discovery is a cool round solar home...not your typical box. It sits on 80 acres abutting national forest for ample privacy. One can see 100 miles of Sangre De Cristo mtn views into New Mexico on clear days.
