About the host
Your host

Our family has been lucky enough to enjoy this wonderful spot since 1954. We've come back summer after summer, creating lifetimes of memories with family and friends. We've gathered to celebrate weddings and wedding anniversaries. Four generations have grown up playing in the garden, baking blueberry crisps, and hiking over to the Jordan Pond house for popovers. We hope that you'll find Random Ridge and Mount Desert Island as magical as we do, and will start making some of your own memories here.
What makes this property unique
Random Ridge is a beautiful property originally built as a rustic lodge in 1881, and expanded in 1910 into a summer “cottage” for J.H. Curtis, a Boston landscape architect and his family. Both the Lodge and the main house were designed by a well-known architect, Fred Savage. (You can read more about Mr. Savage and his work in the book Maine Cottages: Fred L. Savage and the Architecture of Mount Desert by John M. Bryan and Richard Cheek).
