This home has many amenities, including outside sitting areas, barbeque, a deck overlooking the river, lovely cabin set ups in bedrooms, kitchen and living areas. Each bedroom has a queen bed with new mattresses, huge fireplace in great room with plenty of wood, air conditioning and several tvs with cable and wifi. A spa tub is in the master upstairs bathroom and a skylight in the bedroom. A washer and dryer are off of the kitchen. Everything you could want or need is there.

Lovely home and location. Well appointed and we appreciated the fresh flowers on a couple of tables. The only issue is we did not find the beds to be very comfortable. We almost reached out to see if we could extend our stay but we didn't want to stay in the beds another night. But otherwise, a wonderful place.

We had a wonderful stay at this unique cabin, nestled on a beautiful piece of property right next to the river. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our time there. One of our favorite touches was the collection of personal notes the owner left throughout the cabin, sharing the stories and history behind the many interesting items he had collected over the years. It made the stay feel especially personal and added so much character to an already special place.

wow this place was wonderful - both the house itself (clean, lots of character, comfy beds, stocked kitchen) and the amazing surrounding nature (pristine river with swimming holes, was refreshing and not too cold during our stay). the host was responsive, patient, and kind. and the trip was magical - just a 20 minute drive to the redwoods, and lots of other excellent hikes nearby.

A magical place to stay. The river is a bit farther away than we thought initially, and down a steep path, so keep in mind if you have mobility impaired people in your party. But the views, the gardens, and the upstairs room in particular can't be beat. 100% would stay there again, only for longer next time!

A wonderful location, about 10 minutes from the Redwood parks. About a 30 minute drive to the coast, with its amazing beaches. We combined a great beach walk with a visit to the Trees of Mystery attraction - very worthwhile, with a skywalk and gondola ride through a redwood forest that lets you appreciate the amazing redwoods from a new angle. The house is in a quiet area along the gorgeous Smith River. The garden is delightful and has several decks with comfortable seating and lovely views of the river. The surroundings are full of birds and other wildlife. The house itself was very comfortable for our party of 6. It's very well equipped, cozy, and clean.Such a charming home base for exploring one of the country's most stunning natural areas. Thanks to our host for completely trouble-free booking and communication!

We enjoyed our stay, great accommodation, pet friendly, convenient location, close to places we wanted to visit, Redwood National and State Parks, Crescent and Klamath, CA and Brookings, OR. Beautiful view from the decks, great room and master bedroom - overlooking at the Smith River. Communication was great, check in was a breeze and property was very welcoming just like advertised. kitchen had plenty of dishes and quality cookware. Lots of condiments and staples available as well. A quick walk to the river and the kids enjoyed a dip everyday. Amazing experience indeed. Highly recommended!

Relaxing stay at a beautiful spot

The home is very comfortable & well stocked with everything you need. Outside the home was the real star though with flowers blooming & expansive space with multiple decks and comfy chairs overlooking the Smith river. My family loved our stay at Elve Huset.

This was our message to the owner:Andrew, I am Miles Locke’s wife and wanted to send you a message. Only avid gardeners can truly appreciate your lovely home and gardens. This is our annual cousin trip and the three ladies, including me garden in our respective homes. Two are from FL and my husband and I are from TX. We have so enjoyed your home and the explanation on all the cases of the artifacts. We have used vrbo for many years and several times each year and yours is the best. So much thought went in to all the explanation cards and your kitchen has nothing lacking. Thank you again for such a wonderful home.

The house was great, and beautiful setting. We all agreed that it was much better than the listing showed. Great kitchen and living room; multiple decks outside; running stream behind the house, accessible for a cool dip. Would definitely stay there again.

Relaxing and on the River

After hiking all day amongst the redwoods of NorCal we would return to the home to rest and relax to get ready for the next days hike. Sitting out on the back deck right by the river was especially nice. We had a great time.

This was a delightful 4 nights on a pleasant river in a quiet neighborhood in the redwoods. There were 3 of us, plus one service dog. Plenty of room! The decor is quite interesting - part museum, part art gallery. Furniture very comfortable. We were in the river to cool off every evening. We would love to return!

Spectacular getaway

Perfect centralized location for group of family and friends to explore the Redwoods and the northern CA coastline. I grew up in Gasquet. This is our third year visiting our old stomping grounds. We love the house, the grounds, and the view of the Smith River. We visited friends and just enjoyed being in nature. Loved our visit!

Great Time

This was a most enjoyable place to stay. The home was very inviting, comfortable and clean. It has a large covered patio and a separate covered area with a swing. All overlooking the Smith River. It is very close to the Redwoods and all they have to offer. Not far from Crescent City and the coast. Everything is there for a most enjoyable stay.

Every morning I get up and make my self a cup of coffee and swivel the chair around in the living room to face the river in all of its wonder. I sit there peacefully as the water races down to the ocean, read the paper and gently sip on my coffee.
