ArtHaus is located on a well-maintained gravel mountain road with some steep elevation changes. In snow or heavy rain, an all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle is strongly recommended. While most guests arrive without issue, a capable vehicle ensures a smoother arrival — especially if you're arriving during inclement weather.

You will have exclusive access to the entire house and all outdoor amenities! The U-shaped gravel drive accommodates up to 6 vehicles. Please do not park on the side of the road.

There are two locked owner's closets: one off the primary bedroom, and one in the lower-level hallway. Please do not try to access them during your stay.

ArtHaus sits on a private road off the rustic mountain network near West Virginia Route 259 (WV-259), the main highway through Lost City and neighboring valleys. Because of the rural terrain and hillside location, we strongly recommend guests use a capable vehicle — ideally one with all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive — especially in bad weather or winter conditions.

A Note about Nature:
ArtHaus is located in a natural, wooded setting. Deer are regularly spotted in the community, and we provide binoculars to observe the many birds that sing ArtHaus to wake each morning. While we routinely use professional pest control services to keep tiny critters out, occasional sightings of insects is likely. The home is sealed and well-maintained, but we always recommend keeping screen doors closed and food stored properly. If you're comfortable being surrounded by nature, you're in the right place. It’s all part of the natural authenticity of a true mountain retreat!

The ArtHaus Ritual: Spa Amenities & Etiquette
ArtHaus was designed as a space for deep rest and slow ritual. Our outdoor wellness amenities are here to support that - please use them mindfully.

Sauna: Limit sessions to 15–20 minutes, and always hydrate before and after. Use the striped spa towels provided to sit on the benches, and please avoid bringing any oils, lotions, or glass inside. Detailed instructions for use are located in the guidebook.

Hot tub & Cold plunge: Rinse before entering, and please don’t add any products to the water. Please refrain from using glass in these amenities. Detailed instructions for use are located in the guidebook.
Additional guidelines for your safety and enjoyment are posted above the hot tub.

Sunrise Yoga: Enjoy yoga from the comfort of our screened porch, on the expansive upper deck, or on the lower covered deck while birdsong and multi-tonal chimes calm your spirit.

Fire Pit: We provide plenty of fire wood, and we recommend picking up some fire starters on your way to ArtHaus.

Top-Tier Sanitation:
Rest assured, these amenities are cleaned and maintained between each stay so every guest begins with a fresh start. Inside the home, every piece of bedding and linens undergoes meticulous sanitation between each group of guests. Please also note also that this property prohibits smoking and pets. Your well-being is our top priority.

While we warmly welcome families, our home is not childproofed for toddlers and small children. The home contains glass decor, breakables, and stairs. We encourage parents to keep a watchful eye on little ones, especially around indoor and outdoor stairs.

To enhance security, this property is equipped with an exterior surveillance camera, solely monitoring the property entrance and parking area without invading your privacy. Please be mindful of your noise levels and respect quiet hours from 10pm-8am. Choose us for a worry-free and exceptional experience in Lost City, WV!

Our lawn care service occurs every other Wednesday or Thursday during spring, summer, and fall seasons. We do our best to schedule this maintenance in the afternoon and the team is finished in just 30-45 minutes to minimize any disruptions to guests.

Important Booking Requirement:
All guests are required to complete and sign our rental agreement prior to check-in. Check-in instructions, including the property address and door code, will only be released after the rental agreement has been fully signed.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

10/10 Would Recommend ArtHaus!

ArtHaus is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The home is gorgeous and well-furnished, with thoughtful amenities and luxuries. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. If you're a yoga lover, yoga on the deck under the sun felt magical. Even when it rained, we were so comfortable indoors that it never felt like a burden. Amanda and Kevin were exceptionally prompt to reply to any questions throughout the whole booking process, making me feel completely supported. Whenever I book a house I'm always a little worried I'm being real estate catfished, but I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here. We cannot wait to return!

The Perfect Retreat

We spent 3 nights here, 4 people total. The house could easily fit 3 couples. The house was perfectly appointed for a relaxing getaway. 10-15 minutes from nearby markets, but otherwise isolated and relaxing. The sauna, cold plunge and hot tub are excellent perks. The whole house is not only clean and new, its well appointed with nearly everything you would want or need for a few days or a week away. Highly recommend!

Arthaus

Our stay at ArtHaus was nothing short of magical! This modern mountaintop gem offers jaw-dropping 180-degree views that make every sunrise and sunset unforgettable. The house is beautifully designed with nature-inspired artwork throughout, creating a serene, spa-like atmosphere that truly lives up to the “Nature Spa” name. We loved soaking in the hot tub under the stars, unwinding in the spacious, luxurious interiors, and feeling completely secluded on the private wooded acres, yet it’s conveniently located for exploring the Lost River area. Everything was spotless, thoughtfully stocked, and the host was incredibly responsive with great recommendations. Perfect for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. We can’t wait to return, highly recommend!

Amazing hosts!!

From start to finish, our stay at Roots and Realms Arthaus in Lost City was nothing short of spectacular. The hosts were truly amazing—friendly, responsive, and attentive from the very first inquiry all the way through post-trip communication. The cabin itself is a masterpiece. The mountain views are breathtaking, and every corner of the property is impeccably maintained. Inside and out, the space feels both luxurious and welcoming. The amenities are absolutely next-level—we loved relaxing in the hot tub, rejuvenating in the sauna, and braving the cold plunge. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, making our stay feel effortless and indulgent. I cannot say enough good things about this property. It’s rare to find a place that exceeds every expectation, and Roots and Realms Arthaus did exactly that. If I could rate it 6 out of 5, I absolutely would. We can’t wait to return!
