The cottage was super cute and updated nicely. It was very clean and was perfect for me and my husband. We stayed 4 nights July 4th weekend. My daughter and family were camping at Fisherman Island state park. We spent all day there but came home to a shower and a bed. It was perfect and will probably do it again next year. The host was great and answered all of my questions in a timely manner.

NOT AS WE EXPECTED!Host was very communicative. No issues with communicating with the host. The cottage is extremely small. Also, except for the rocking chair, the furniture in the shared living/dining area was uncomfortable and dirty. The couch/lounger needs to be replaced. The lot is very narrow and neighbors were using the shared yard for outdoor games with family, along with a barking dog. The shared beach is very small as well and a short walk from the cottage.Unfortunately we encountered ants in the kitchen, as well as outside on the patio, as well as the seating down by the water. There was also cobwebs in the kitchen and popcorn under the rocking chair so the cleaning was substandard and may have accounted for the ants.We ended up leaving a couple days early due to the above as it was not worth the nightly rate. While the Internet was fine, we would not return for the above reasons. I realize that this cottage has great memories for the host family but not so much for our short stay.

John, I’m sorry to hear the cabin did not meet your expectations. We believe our listing and photos accurately represent the property, so I’m not entirely sure where your expectations differed. When you arrived, I reached out to make sure everything was going well and you said the cabin was fine. You mentioned there were a few ants but said you had them under control. I let you know that if the problem continued, we would gladly send our maintenance person out, but I never heard back. After our cleaner found ant traps, I contacted you again and offered to reimburse you for their cost. Because the cabin is in the woods, the occasional ant is unfortunately something that can happen despite our best efforts. We are also in the process of replacing the sleeper sofa, although getting furniture delivered to Northern Michigan can be challenging. I wish you had contacted me about the issue with the neighbors during your stay. I would have been happy to ask them to move their yard games farther from the cabin. We genuinely want our guests to have a great experience and do our best to resolve concerns as they arise, but we can only help if we know about them. I also reached out after you left early but did not receive a response. I’m sorry your stay wasn’t what you had hoped for, and I hope you were still able to enjoy some of the beauty of Northern Michigan. Best regards, Sue Berry

Beautiful, cozy, and clean cabin, perfect for two on a quiet weekend away. Very clear, detailed instructions and easy communication with host made for a smooth trip. Really enjoyed the quiet lake, but close proximity to Charlevoix and surrounding areas. Definitely would return and recommend this cabin.

Welcome to our piece of paradise. We bought our cabin back in 1990 before we even had kids and we now have two grown children and our first grandchild. Our children grew up at this cabin when it was just a small "shack." It is a family place, a place where memories have been made and a place we all call home. Our plan was to retire up there someday. Well someday is here! Where does time go? After our 3rd remodel it was ready for us to live in 6 months a year and we have loved it but now our first grandchild has called us to WI where we lived for 18 years. Our son is bringing up our grandson for the first time this summer and we will start that whole circle of life. New memories will be made with the next generation.

We are not new to the rental scene. We rented this cabin for many years and also have a rental property in FL that we have rented for the past 25 years. We do our best to make your rental experience a wonderful experience where you will also have memories that will last a lifetime. Our hope is that you will love our place as much as we do and that you will come back time and time again and also feel like this is not only your piece of paradise but also have a feeling of coming back "home."
