About this property

Classic 1920s oceanfront home & cottage with AC, bikes, grill - walk to beach

Summary:

Town of Rehoboth Beach - 42 Surf Ave

The Space:

This 1920s classic Rehoboth beach house is the perfect spot to create lasting memories. There is plenty of space for the group to gather between the main home and the detached cottage. Sunbathe in the sunroom while enjoying a book or conversation. Cook together in the bright and spacious kitchen. Enjoy a meal at the breakfast nook or in the formal dining room. Take special notice of the incredible landscaping around the home that only adds to the serenity of the house. Moonflowers grow all over the trellises and open at night. Grill on the propane grill and have fun nights on the outdoor deck. When it's time to call it a night, the main home has four upstairs bedrooms and four bathrooms, while the cottage holds three bedrooms and a full bathroom. This house is directly across from the beach, so sandy shores and ocean waves are easy to visit daily. Carry your chairs and refreshments over the beach and relax the day away. Make use of the four provided bikes and ride two blocks to the northern end of the boardwalk for an enjoyable boardwalk stroll. Delaware Accommodations Intermediary License #2024712698 Things to Know

Beautiful and spacious, perfectly located steps from the beach. I fell asleep each night to the sound of crashing waves which was an amazing experience. Host was responsive & friendly. When we can afford it again, I hope to return. Thank you.

Family home in a great location

The location of this home cannot be beat. It is directly across the street from one of the main access paths down to the beach. Unfortunately, the lack of upkeep on what used to be a lovingly cared for family home mitigated all the pluses.

Great Family Trip!

We loved our stay at this unit. Everything was clean and ready to go. Having the towels and linens there on arrival was a real bonus. We will be back. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

One of a kind beach house with an awesome location

Location!! Room to spread out! Homes of this size are not easy to find in the DE beach communities. Beautiful landscaping on the entire property assured shady backyard fun. The main house had three different thermostats to control the a/c... one for the four second floor bedrooms and four full bathrooms... one for the main level living areas including gameroom (complete with ping pong and foosball tables), large well-equipped kitchen, formal dining room and living room... and sunroom/playroom in the four season front and side porch. There was also a garden hose for rinsing one's sand off before entering the house as well as a toilet closeted on the back porch which we didn't know we had until our 5th day there! The detached garage had three bedrooms on the upper level with one bathroom. Window a/c units were in each bedroom. The one bathroom had just one clawfoot bathtub and no drain stopper to keep the water in. Guests staying in the garage bedrooms had to use either the outdoor shower on the lower level of the garage or go into the house and one of those showers. The garage also held a washer and dryer in a back locked utility room which we found on Day 2. We were pleasantly surprised to find the beds all made and each guest given two bath towels, a hand towel, and a washcloth that were in almost if not new condition.

The location is great. Sadly, on arrival we found that one of the bedrooms in the main house had a water damaged ceiling with loose paint/plaster falling on the bed and floor and uninhabitable. This forced 2 grandkids to sleep on mattresses on the floor of their parents room. The carriage house has no Wi-Fi, TV, or shower inside. We had to walk outside to use the beach shower. The second day our toilet in the carriage house overflowed with feces all over the bathroom floor and into the next room. We called the management and they sent a crew in to unclog and fix the problem. It was apparent from the crew that this was not a new issue. They ended up replacing the toilet and had to send a sanitation crew in to sterilize the area. This ruined much of our vacation. The hot water in both houses ran out quickly as well during showers. Sadly, we rented this property because my wife always loved it and the grounds, as well as the great location. We really should get some money refunded for the significant stress and loss of a full day of vacation and hopefully the owners will. With a lot of work this can be a great vacation spot again.

Disappointing. The house is really old. The lock was not opening. The instructions provided were for a keycode lock but that lock didn’t exist. After multiple tries the lock somehow opened with a key. The door handles in the entire house are very old and loose and can come out any time. The bathrooms doesn’t lock from inside. The AC is very old and could barely keep up with the heat outside. To make matters worse, the ceiling in one of the bedrooms started to leak die to the AC water not draining properly. The plaster from the ceiling also fell and due to the water accumulating on the bedroom floor, it also made it’s way to the dining room celing downstairs. The cottage where the 3 bedrooms are was like a furnace. It was not possible to sleep in there with ACs in each of the bedrooms making lot of noise.Only plus point for the property is the accessibility to the beach. Just a minute walk across the street and you are on the beach. Please avoid this property if you want your money’s worth.
