Lovely cottage in Snowdonia, private hot tub, by mountains & award winning beach
Lounge with open fire place and bay window, dining room overlooking the garden, bathroom, modern recently fitted kitchen, master bedroom with king size bed, second bedroom with full size bunk beds. Front and rear gardens, patio area with good views, with outside dining furniture and gas barbecue. Private hot tub (seats 5), with lighting, and massage jets.
The rear garden is enclosed and terraced on two levels, and care must be taken when approaching the edges of the terraces. Distant sea views from the hot tub!
The cottage is in a designated 'Dark Skies' reserve, and the quantity and brightness of stars that can be seen whilst relaxing in the hot tub is amazing.
There are traditional family board games provided, a 1960's record player (and records!), lots of books, as well as free fast Wi-Fi, X-Box & games, family DVDs and TV.
Bryn Heulog is in the hamlet of Friog, right by an award winning beach, with the foothills of Cader Idris and the famous 'Blue Lake' behind it.
The area has fantastic walking and cycling attractions, to suit all abilities and experience. Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park Mountain Bike Centre is close by, as is the family friendly Mawddach Trail, which can include a crossing of the famous Barmouth Bridge, or a stop at the George III by the toll bridge in Penmaenpool for a pub lunch.
You can walk from the front door to the hills behind which reach to the beautiful and dramatic Cregennen Lakes, and further on to Cadair Idris itself, passing lots of local waterfalls, Victorian Slate and Gold Mines, with amazing views over Cardigan Bay.
The beach is a few minutes walk away, and is always quiet. It is sandy, and gently sloping, and perfect for families. There is always lots of opportunity for kite flying, rock-pooling, fishing, kayaking, paddling, swimming, beachcombing, sandcastle making, crabbing, or just lying down in the sun with a good book.
The narrow gauge railway at Fairbourne is a very short walk away, and is one of the famous little trains of Wales. You can catch it to 'The Point' facing Barmouth, and then catch the connecting local ferry across the estuary to get to the Victorian Seaside town. From there you can book a boat for some sea fishing, visit the theatre, the fairground, or one of the many shops and restaurants.

Brilliant host - very helpful really lovely and cosy little place with amazing hot tub with views of the mountains and the sea in the distance. Loved our time there - second time we have stayed and would definitely stay again
We received key lock and Wi-Fi information a couple of days before our trip away. The day before Eloise rang me to discuss further details, gave me all relevant information we needed and assured me that I could contact her if needed. She was really friendly, helpful and happy to assist with all small details like opening of local food places to the cottage. Upon arrival it was so easy to park, check in to the beautiful cottage. The view from the front of the property is fields with sheep which I found to be beautifully serene, it was so quiet considering it’s on a main road. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, cosy and very welcoming. Eloise was aware that we had booked the trip for my husband’s birthday which was the following day, they had left a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge which was such a lovely thoughtful surprise. The garden is beautiful but most importantly very private, loved hearing all the little birds chirping away. The hot tub was really great with such stunning views of the mountains and sea in the distance. We loved every minute of our break at this cute cottage, we would definitely go back and highly recommend this property. Thank you to you all.

Very quiet and peaceful stay, bungalow was good, needs a bath mat in the bath whilst showering as it was prone to being slippy getting in and out. We did enjoy the hot tub very much, always lovely to come back to early evening.
We had a lovely 3 night stay at Bryn Heulog with our German shepherd, Fairbourne & Barmouth beaches are very close and very dog friendly. We were blessed with good weather to enjoy the gorgeous garden!
Beautiful little cottage in Fairbourne, with easy access to all areas. Location was perfect. Place was very dog friendly and plenty of garden for them to roam. Hosts were easy to get hold of and called before hand to explain everything. The only reason it wasn’t 5 stars and should be 4.5 stars from us was the apples all over the garden paths and outside the door and the fact there was no towels supplied. But other than that would definatly return and recommended the cottage and the area to anyone
Perfect location for holiday with our dog. The cottage was very cosy with everything you need, a lovely home from home. The area is very quiet but with the most amazing walks & easy to get around. We spent our days exploring, on the beach & then relaxing in the fabulous hot tub in between showers of heavy rain! Eloise called to run through everything I needed to know a couple of days before & messaged lots of recommendations for places to eat etc which was very helpful. We had a lovely time & would highly recommend to anyone for a peaceful break. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage…Caroline, Mark & Bella xx
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was great as was not too far away from many of the local tourist spots. The hot tub was very much appreciated and enjoyed. Eloise was very helpful. The kitchen was well equipped with all the bits that we needed. Also, the bed was very comfortable which is always a bonus! If I was pushed to find any negatives, I'd have to say there was a lot of pet hair about, but that would be expected in a pet-friendly place (which I love, by the way). Also, one of the baking trays still had food on it, but that was a quick fix. So nothing to really be bothered about. We loved it here very much and we would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely stay; the house was clean and tidy, always nice to see, and had the all the local amenities we needed (would recommend a visit to Barmouth - Mermaids fish & chips are amazing!).
Thank you Eloise for being such a good host.
What a fantastic few days we had. Such a welcoming cottage with a lovely feel and the hosts are so very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend

About the host
Hosted by Eloise
Our family has been close to this area for over 50 years - and very little has changed in all that time. It's where our best memories are of growing up by the seaside, exploring the hills and estuary, and playing on the long, safe and sandy beach.
Why they chose this property
When it comes to this area, there are two types of people: those that have never been and have never heard of the area, and those that have been going there all their lives! Once discovered, you're certain to return :-)
What makes this property unique
There are very few properties that are so close to the beach and also the mountains, whilst at the same time being situated in a quiet friendly Hamlet, yet with all conveniences within a short distance. We love it when our guests have a great holiday, and we're proud of having the highest number of 4 and 5 star reviews on VRBO, not just for this area, but for the whole of the UK.
