Rustic 1960's Oceanfront Cottage With Modern Updates


This charming 1960's Cottage is a 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom single story home. The Oceanfront location has approximately 1200 square feet, renovated bathrooms with tile showers while the home maintains the original 1960's charm with Hardwood Floors in the bedrooms and Vaulted Beam ceilings throughout the home. The kitchen is mostly original, handmade cabinets, so no Granite or Marble Counter tops, but fully functional. The beds were fitted throughout with QUALITY Mattresses, so you will wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a day of fun.

Housekeeping/cleaning fee for all rentals is $150.00 Cancellation insurance available through VRBO. Damage Protection Insurance of $89 may be purchased through VRBO in lieu of $400 refundable deposit
Linen Charge of $125/stay is required during peak season and automatically included for all rentals.

In peak season from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Changeover date is Saturday, booked by the week.
As we use the home frequently ourselves, we occasionally make minor updates to the furnishings and decor, so check back regularly for updates.

We do not allow animals of any kind, as an accommodation to several allergen sensitive repeat guests.

Family Vacation

Just what we needed

The house was everything that we needed for our stay in Oak Island. The owner was very responsive by text and stopped by to try and fix the dishwasher which was broken. Would stay again!

Wonderful place

This place was big enough to hold our family comfortably, great view of the ocean and beach. Quick access to store for groceries. Property owner was quick to respond and extremely helpful during our stay! We would love to come back in the future!

A wonderful respite!

We have stayed at this property once before and really enjoyed being right in front of the ocean, so wanted the same experience. It did not disappoint. There were 7 of us from the age range of 18 to 80s. All of us enjoyed our time here equally. The house is rustic and could use a little TLC, but you can’t beat the proximity to the ocean, the covered balcony where we sat for hours watching the waves and wildlife, beautiful beach that is not crowded, the convenience of staying together in the same space with family, a bed for everyone, and so many other conveniences. I really appreciated the brand new green pans for cooking/heating up our meals as we tend to cook some of our meals. All in all, it was such a relaxing time of rest after a very busy year!! This house provided our family with all that we needed to have wonderful vacation. I was even able to see the milky way:)

Wonderful home

Enjoyed our stay at the beach home. Just as described. Well maintained and had everything we needed plus all beach supplies. Beds were very comfortable and you cannot beat the view. A front seat to the ocean. Would recommend for anyone wanting to get away and enjoy the beach.

Great Place and Awesome Host

We had a wonderful time staying in this beach home listening to the waves and reading books. Truly a warm experience that brought back fond memories of visiting coastal Carolina as a kid. We cooked breakfast and lunch in the house and went out for seafood for dinner at the tasty local restaurants. The host was easy to get along with, extremely accommodating and very communicative making the overall experience second to none - seriously just a top notch down to earth person. We absolutely would stay here again and recommend this home for your next vacation too.

Had an awesome stay for the second year in a row. Very rustic and family friendly. Would recommend highly to update deck to be more child friendly and fix some items inside that were needing to be replaced. Besides the deck and little things , everything was great.

Location great needs some work after hurricane.

Home right on water is the selling point. It would be nice if linens were prorated by how many sets were used. A little pricey for using one pair of sheets.

Great family week

Very close to ocean. We like the layout of house and large open area. Parking works well. We got to see turtles hatch one dark night. Thrilling! Enjoyed the bicycles, skimmer boards provided.

Girl’s Weekend!

My mom and I had a lovely long weekend at this super cute house. It had everything we needed, a beautiful view steps to the water, and Pete was such a pleasure to work with. We had a couple questions and needed some assistance from Pete a couple times. He responded immediately to everything and was so so helpful. Thanks so much for a fantastic weekend! Can’t wait to come back!

The Dolphin's Tale

It was NOT fancy or even very modern, but it had everything needed, and the location was absolutely perfect! The beds were comfortable with quality mattresses. Having linens and towels provided was an extra bonus. The family enjoyed the large kitchen table, and the deck off the back was superb. What we got for the price we paid was very reasonable. I had stayed previously on the east side of Beach Drive; I enjoyed the stay on the west side much better. I don't know how you could go wrong with the location, 4 bedrooms, and a very helpful host. Our stay was delightful. I heartily endorse the rental property and will most likely return for another stay there.

Oak Island Vacay

I traveled with my 5 grandchildren and daughter and daughter in law. We had the best experience at Oak Island. We had never visited the island before and found it to be amazing. We enjoyed our stay in your delightful cottage. The view of the ocean was superb and the distance to the beach was perfect for the young and the old (me, ha). Your well stocked cottage was filled with good quality items such as mattresses, pillows, blankets, kitchen ware. There was nothing you did not have that we needed. My grandchildren also enjoyed being able to stay together in the bunk rooms. The layout of the house added to our comfort. I did want to let you know that there were a couple of issues on the porches. The corner board on the landing was loose on the front, screen was on front door and some of the soffit was missing on the back. I know it could have been due to a storm but should be fixed. Otherwise, thanks for letting us use your charming beach house.

Family beach vacation

We had a beach family vacation including 11 people with a combination of adults and teenagers (our 3rd year to OKI, 1st at this house). The layout of the place was good for us. The teenagers enjoyed the bunk room and everyone felt comfortable sleeping. We also had space to eat together and hangout in the kitchen/living room. The location of the property was great in a quiet neighborhood and the beach was not crowded. You can't beat oceanfront! We enjoyed the front porch in the mornings/evenings and the beach access. As others have said, the place needs some attention. When we arrived, the house was very dirty and hadn't been cleaned. We found trash behind beds when we were putting sheets on, and the floors had not been mopped. There was dust/sand on all surfaces. The house had not been deep cleaned in a long time and we found cockroaches. We spent the first 3 hours of our vacation cleaning, which is something I have never had to do at Vrbo. I was pretty upset because all of the reviews had depicted the property as "rustic" but clean, which is what I was expecting. The owner was responsive at first and explained the difficulty with getting reliable cleaning service, which is understandable. He also said he wanted to make it right, but in the end, he did not. Once we cleaned the place (2 of us for 3 hours solid) we had a great time with family and enjoyed the beach.

We're a local family who live only 40 minutes away in Hampstead and check on the house regularly to ensure everything is functioning properly. We enjoy the home during the weeks and weekends that it is not rented, and enjoy working on projects such as refinishing furniture, redecorating, or just shelling during the off season. While we've owned several long-term rentals for many years, this is our only beach property. Our objective is to learn from your feedback so that you'll want to come back year after year. While I am new to the Vacation Rental business, I'm a full time Mortgage Banker who built my business through referrals and repeat business from past customers. The home is a very affordable Oceanfront property that is well maintained with a blend of 1960's Cottage with wood paneling, and the modern conveniences of wifi, cable tv, and DVDs. New, quality mattresses mean you will get the rest you need to enjoy your days even more. Ceiling fans are in all the bedrooms and main living room to provide fresh circulation. Dual Central HVAC systems ensure the inside is kept cool on the warmest of days. Two Beach cruisers are below in the storage area to enjoy rides down Beach Dr, with bike lanes on both sides, or try riding to the pier on the sand.

What makes this property unique

Oceanfront with convenient and flexible sleeping arrangements. 9 separate beds that sleep up to 12. Wifi, cable, tv with flat screens in the living room and two of the bedrooms. The west end location provides open space without the crowds. The home has a weber propane BBQ, washer & driver, microwave and an abundance of beach chairs. Board games, cards, puzzles, books and plenty of salt breezes! We have both a conventional and Keurig coffee maker in the kitchen
