We had a wonderful stay at the Prancing Pony. The house is very charming and has plenty of space. Everything was as-advertised and you can’t beat the location just down the road from the beach! They’ve also added a keypad lock which makes it much easier to come and go.

Welcome back to your vacation home! We are so happy you love and enjoy the area, including the best beach in all of Door County! Glad you like the new keyless entry. Looking forward to you returning!
The location was very good and the hostess easy to communicate with. The beds and pillows were wonderful!!We do have suggestions though...we couldn't find any kitchen towels or kitchen cloths. It would be good to have a clean sponge in wrapper and starter items such as a roll of paper towels, a small bag of coffee.

Thank you for your suggestion - kitchen towels, a dish cloth and sponge are provided for guests and in the drawer next to the sink. If the cleaning team forgot to fill the drawer, our apologies.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and the area. The peacefulness and tucked away location is definitely something to be appreciated. Please come back again soon!

We are so happy you enjoyed your time away, the home and beautiful location. Come back soon - the beach, water and landscape always brings peacefulness and changes to cherish.
We spent a fun week in this adorable home! Loved the design and decor of the house. It was well-appointed and very comfortable. Laura was an extremely helpful and kind host - she sent many recommendations that assisted us in having a wonderful week in Door Country (our first visit to this area). I hope we make it to the area again next year as we had a great time!

Excellent location, close to all cities in Doot County. Short walk to White Fish Dunes State Park.
We have stayed at the Prancing Pony numerous times, the home offers everything you need.

We love that you consider The Prancing Pony your vacation home and appreciate that your family memories are made here. That is exactly why we rent the home. We look forward to your next trip!
Our family of 5 plus 1 dog had a wonderful stay at the charming Prancing Pony! Unfortunately, Canadian wildfire smoke kept us indoors for a couple of the days, but the comfortable accommodations and well-stocked kitchen (regarding cooking tools) allowed us to share memorable & fun moments just the same. Access to the beautiful beach was awesome, and we were there walking our dog several times a day. Options for bowling, mini-golf, and shopping in Sturgeon Bay were a breeze, and there were many restaurants close by. When my family returns to Door County, we absolutely will be hopping to stay here again!
The Prancing Pony is a lovely, quiet spot perfectly situated to be away from the hustle and bustle of Door County towns but close enough to access everything you want to do.
Super comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen and good community spaces large enough for games and an occasional sporting event on the large flat screen tv met of family’s needs.
We had such a great week at Prancing Pony that we already booked two weeks next year! We were worried about what to bring but we never should have, everything we needed was there! Perfect location and a cozy ambience made us feel right at home!

So glad that you had a great time and enjoyed the home and location. It makes me really happy when I hear that guest felt at home. Looking forward to welcoming you back next summer. Thank you!
Beds are very comfortable. Decor is cute. Owner/manager is responsive and nice. Sound travels thru house due to architecture so lacking a certain amount of privacy. Prepare for mosquitoes and beware poison ivy in general vicinity (trails).
Overall we enjoyed the Prancing Pony. We stayed over the winter and while the neighbors were a little closer than we expected it was a quiet week in the neighborhood.Pros: Cozy space. Gas kitchen. Access to the lake across the street and easy access to XC ski trails up the road. Lengthy and thoughtful list of recommendations (food, etc) from the host. Main level and upstairs stayed warm even without us using the fireplace.Cons: Very strong smell of sulfur in the tap water, especially hot water. No king beds (although we knew that going into the rental). No snow removal service provided which was inconvenient given it snowed almost the entire week we were there. Basement ‘suite’ was nice space but quite cold and we couldn’t get the TV to work. Overall a relaxing place to spend time and we would recommend it to others.

Happy New Year! Glad you enjoyed your stay at The Prancing Pony - were comfy and cozy, and enjoyed the beautiful area. The downstairs level has a heating unit control on the wall which keeps the room very comfortable. Snowfall in the area can be quite beautiful especially in this rural area. While we leave a shovel outside and ice melt for convenience, guests are asked to contact us when there is a snowfall for a drive plow.
Wonderful stay at Prancing Pony. Laura was responsive and great at communicating. The house was clean and provided everything we needed for a great relaxing stay in Door Co. The neighborhood is quiet and a small public beach just down the road provided a great place for morning and evening walks along the shore of Lake Michigan.
Very nice, rustic, well kept property. Plenty of room for my family of 4 plus 1. Property had a beautiful view of Lake MI from the deck and access to the lake was only a few doors down across the street. The sandy beach was great for long walks and just hangin’ out.

This is a great rustic and spacious home to access a very special beach. I’ve been roaming these shores since I was a little, and now I bring my own kids. It has the feel of a classic Door County getaway.

It is such a pleasure to be part of your ongoing memories and part of your children’s experiences in Door County. Thank you for returning to your vacation getaway The Prancing Pony!
We really enjoyed our stay. Great location. We weren't able to get the TV to work, but we didn't need it and it was actually nice not to have it. We played games, went to beach, walked and loved sitting out on the patio.

Hi Jim,
We are so glad that you enjoyed The Prancing Pony, the area and your vacation! We enjoy the deck as well and gazing at the stars -- hopefully you were able to see some shooting stars.
We really appreciate you having made The Prancing Pony your vacation destination for several years and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
All our best.
My husband and I, our two adult daughters, and our dog thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent at the Prancing Pony. We had everything we needed for our stay and were wowed by the beauty of the sandy beach that is a five minute walk from the property. It was great to be on the quiet side of Door County but within a quick drive of some of the more touresty towns, restaurants, and shopping. We hope to book again next summer.

About the host
Hosted by Prancing Pony
We are a family of 8 (which include 3 grandchildren). We love outdoor activities Door County has to offer - hiking, kayaking, biking, climbing, swimming and exploring. Our home is filled with antiques, folk art and original oil paintings. We continually add special touches to the home. On the outside of the house under each of the eves are hand carved finials.
I grew up in Northwest Illinois and vacationed in Wisconsin with my sisters and brother. We always loved the water and outdoor activites. As an adult, we started taking 2-3 camping trips a year to door county (Potawatomi and Peninsula), loving this unique area so close to home.
We enjoy sharing the home with family and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they explore and relax.
Why they chose this property
When my children were small we used to camp in Door County. It was the perfect place that was close to home with everything we needed - outdoor activities, great beaches and a place to relax. I would take the kids to Whitefish Dunes State Park where they would swim and participate in the kids activities run by the park. We would look down the beach and imagine what it would be like to have property 'down there'. When the the opportunity presented itself to buy a home, I looked all around the Peninsula, found this home and knew it was the one. It reminded me of Switzerland and I instantly fell in love with the craftsmanship and charm of the home, not to mention the area.
Named from Lord of the Rings, The Prancing Pony was a safe haven and place for all walks of life to gather. Our family considers the home to be that special place where all can gather for a peaceful get away. I have been blessed with this beautiful home and love the chance to share it with family, friends and vacationers -- extended friends.
Please sign our guest book and tell us about your trip. I love reading about your adventures.
What makes this property unique
You will love the craftsmanship of the open beam structure and love that went into building this home by the original owner who was a carpenter. The home is filled with antiques, folk art and original oil paintings.
We love going to bed listening to the waves and waking up in the morning looking at the beautiful architecture. It is so relaxing to sit on the large porch and read a book or stare up at the night sky and watch for satellites and falling stars. We take walks several times a day down the beach, down the street or on the many trails in the state park. People of all ages and their dogs love the beach -- there's simply nothing like it. The sandbars make it a lot of fun to walk way out and only be knee deep. The lake is different each day and ever day is a new adventure.
Bed linens and towels are provided, unlike properties managed by other rental companies.
