About this property
Maine Coast Experience. Full 180 Degree Ocean View. 275ft of frontage.
If you need an escape for the whole family (or perhaps from the whole family), a couples retreat, or simply the solitude of Maine's beauty; consider The Point.
Located on the southernmost tip of Gun Point peninsula in Harpswell, The Point has many amenities that few have the chance to encounter. Guests will enjoy over 275 feet of Maine's beautiful shoreline. With two pebble beaches, rocky ledges and a tide pool your stay is at much more than just a house with a view, it is a place of experiences.
The beach sits just 75 feet from the front deck where you will have sweeping southern views. You will see half a dozen small islands, working lobster boats, sailboats, Great Blue Herons, and Ospreys almost every day of your stay. “A spectacular location!" are always the words of first-time visitors to The Point.
If you need a change of pace, you have a full sized 20x40 solar-heated saltwater pool and a deep water dock on the property for you. The house is at the end of a two mile private road so a quiet afternoon walk is another way to break from the flurry of everyday life. A fire pit on the front lawn, and only steps from the ocean, is a cozy way to watch the stars. Whatever you choose, you will be lost to your surroundings - Maine’s natural beauty.
The main house has five bedrooms and will accommodate eight comfortably. (If your party has more than 8 guests, we have a fee of $40 per guest per night ) No more than 10 people . The first floor has an open floor plan with a combined kitchen, dining and living area opening out onto a large front deck. A brand new bedroom is located on the first floor, with a king size bed, and attached full bath, which are both airconditioned per heat pump. (the only air conditioning in the home) The other 4 bedrooms are located on the second floor. The full kitchen has all the equipment you need to prepare meals or to host your own traditional Maine lobster bake. An oversized, six burner gas grill is also at your disposal for more cooking options. For the rare occasion when you find yourself indoors the house has WiFi, cable TV, a diverse reading library and family/couples board games. The home is clean and comfortable with the owner available (a mile up the road) in case of emergencies. Not overly fancy, but with everything you’ll need for one of the most memorable times of your life.
Site amenities include an outdoor gas grill, patio furniture, and a fire pit. The saltwater pool is solar panel heated. With prior arrangements, boaters have access to the deep water dock and mooring located on the east shore in a sheltered cove. If you choose to bring your own boat it can be launched directly from the beach in front. There is plenty of room to park two vehicles as well as a boat trailer.
If you haven't already, take a moment to view the photos. They only hint at the experience you'll have when you book your next getaway at The Point.

About the host
Hosted by Sheri Blackstone
This gorgeous piece of land is now owned and maintained by the three eldest brothers of the Dostie family- Paul, Jack and Dan. They all live on various spots along the peninsula.
"We are so happy that you are able to enjoy The Point as it truly is a special place."
Why they chose this property
The Gun Point peninsula has a rich history beginning with Native Americans, later including pirates, bootleggers and smugglers. There was also abundant industry here for a time. At the turn of the century, Dan’s Ice Pond (a freshwater pond located more inland on the peninsula) was created to harvest ice. Ice was shipped all along the East Coast as far as Florida. During the Colonial War supplies were blocked by the British; subsequently a “salt works” was built on Gun Point Creek to process sea salt. Since then, the peninsula has served as a docking area for lobster fishing, clam and mussel harvesting, seaweed harvesting and a fabulous vacation spot. In the early 1960’s, Jules and Yvette Dostie with partners and friends, bought the entirety of Gun Point; built the road and developed the land.
What makes this property unique
Located at the very tip of the Gun Point peninsula, you can experience spectacular views that will make you fall in love with this unique place. While enjoying morning coffee or dining al fresco on the front deck, you can watch lobster boats getting their daily catch, and sailboats on their way to Boothbay Harbor. It is an exceptional place where you can enjoy the pool, walk the beach, collect sea glass and shells, or just relax and enjoy the summer days.
