A FANTASTIC mountain home surrounded by tall forests:
TWO homes (with LOTS of room inside to spread out) proudly stand on this flat green 3-acre lot with PLENTY of room for outdoor fun. (You CANNOT FIND a multi acre FLAT lot or a LARGE LAWN in ANY OTHER property in the area.)
Historic 100+ year-old apple trees on the LARGE lawn add to the charm of this property. The main house has 4 bedrooms upstairs with 2 FULL bathrooms, plus a 1/2 bath and a den downstairs.
(MOST Rentals in Twain Harte and surrounding area ONLY have queen beds. WE HAVE 4 KING BEDS!!).
The Cottage has sleeping for four, a LARGE FULL bathroom and a LARGE fully-equipped kitchen. The Cottage is an
"ADD ON" for an additional fee of $200 per night (+ additional cleaning fee) and is NOT rented separately. Both houses are furnished with lots of beautiful decor.

The MOUNTAIN HOUSE (2706 sq ft): sleeps 8 MAX.
3 California KING beds with super comfortable mattresses and super awesome sheets! Trust me on this, you'll be HAPPY :)
*Master bedroom has 50" flat screen TV, large leather chair with ottoman, walk-in closet and en suite FULL bathroom.
The master bathroom has a door dividing the double sinks and large counter surface from the toilet, shower and separate tub for additional privacy.
1 QUEEN bed with comforter set and 1 twin bunk bed in same room.
2 FULL bathrooms, both with tubs and showers and 1 half bath
VERY large kitchen with island, two ovens, 27" flat screen monitor.

The COTTAGE (834 sq ft): sleeps 4 MAX. The Cottage is an "ADD ON" for an additional fee of $200 per night (+ additional cleaning fee) and is NOT rented separately.

When you drive on to this SPACIOUS and PEACEFUL setting you immediately feel at home. Plenty of parking for 5 cars on level ground.
The Mountain House has many updates, including--but not limited to--decor, furnishings, appliances, fixtures, flooring, fire pit, 81' bocce ball court and more. Appliances and electronics: Starlink WiFi, Roku TV, 2 Blu-ray players. Three TV's in the main house: the living room - 60" with Surround Sound; master bedroom - 50"; and kitchen - 27" (monitor only). The glass french doors in the foyer lead into the main living space. The dining table has seating for 8. The bar high custom-made wine barrel table in the kitchen area seats 6 - 8 and is also perfect for playing cards! Dual ovens in the kitchen: one propane, one electric. Just off the kitchen is a laundry area and a 1/2 bath. The living room is large and comfortable. The den, just off the living room, is equipped with a desk, couch, games and DVD's. Upstairs you will find four bedrooms (THREE have KING BEDS), a master bathroom and another FULL bath.

The Cottage is a VERY large open studio living space with a 60" TV with Surround Sound, Roku TV, and a Blu-ray player; very colorful and super comfy Bob Timberlake sofas, sleeping for four with 1 KING bed and 1 bunk bed. One FULL bathroom and a FULLY EQUIPPED kitchen. The Cottage is an "ADD ON" for an additional fee of $200 per night (+ additional cleaning fee) and is not rented separately.

Large decks surround both the house and the cottage and a large multi-burner propane barbecue is there for your enjoyment. There is a custom made 81' bocce ball court, corn hole, badminton, croquet, whiffle ball, horseshoes, ping pong, basketball hoop and fire pit for s'mores!
You MUST see to believe the great amenities these rentals can afford you and your family and guests.

Strip any used beds and gather used towels

Gather up all exterior trash and throw away.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Another Great Stay

We enjoyed another summer getaway in this beautiful house in Twain Harte. It's definitely a five-star experience. We keep coming back for the fun and relaxation afforded by this home away from home. It has something for everyone in the family.

We had such a terrific vacation at the Mountain House. We relaxed, played, cooked, and visited the local lakes for water sports and just had a lot of fun. The property is beautiful and meets our needs as a family.

Awesome lovely place with plenty of room. The design of the whole property was very well thought out. The owners have thought of everything thing to make sure our stay was comfortable. The house was very well kept and was better than described. Would highly recommend and hope to be back soon.

Its hard to find a home with so many good amenities that can hold two families comfortably. The home has everything you need and more. We had such a wonderful stay playing games in the yard, bbqing dinners, and fire pit evenings. The beds were comfortable and the sheets luxurious.

The property couldn’t have more been perfect. We had all ages and everyone was happy with all the things that were available to entertain them. This was our second time to stay as we celebrated Mom's 85th birthday. Our small family LOVED the peacefulness and serenity all the while enjoying time together. Marvelous Mountain House

Great place! Very accommodating for large family or group. Clean, comfortable, organized, quiet. Something for everyone on the property. Great place to stay

I stayed here again after coming here the first time in Jan. The owner upgraded the WiFi so it’s a lot faster. It’s the best you can get in this area, but like all WiFi the more people on it the slower it will get. It’s good enough for Zoom calls. You can tell the owner really takes care of the place and has great attention to details. The Cal King beds are super comfortable. Plenty of kitchen utensils, cups, plates, pots, pans, and two full ovens. They even have a generator if the power goes out in the area. There is plenty of space for the kids to safely run around outside and plenty of games in the game shed. There is also plenty of lights outside and inside too. My family already wants to make this place our yearly retreat. Would highly recommend. John

Great place

During our stay in Twain Harte, we were fortunate to stay in the beautiful home(s) owned by Cathy and Mark Burket. During our stay from the 1st to the 6th of April, the weather was unseasonably cool with snow on the ground the entire time. However, we enjoyed the property, the ability to spread out in the house and cottage, and the many tourist destinations, restaurants in the area, and the excellent Twain Harte market. The house and cottage were well stocked with everything you need when staying for a few days. Items in the house were carefully marked so we could tell what switch belonged to which set of lights, where dishes were supposed to go, and how to operate equipment. Because of the cost of electricity, the heating was carefully controlled which makes sense for those of us who continue to enjoy affordable VRBO properties. Owner support was excellent, from the best way to drive to the property, to answering questions as they came up. Checkout procedures included a detailed check out sheet which allowed us to identify issues so they could be fixed prior to the next tenant. We had two very minor issues, one of which was a light bulb that went out (and there were still plenty of other lights). Motion activated lights in the restrooms were a great, a very user-friendly safety feature. I’ll sum it up this way, while we enjoyed features like the Big Trees state park, the llama ranch, gold mining, etc., in better weather, we would have been quite content to

Fantastic experience!

This home is incredibly clean, spacious, organized and well equipped with opportunities to play and relax. We played basketball, whiffle ball, bocce and board games all with equipment found in the home. We drove a short way to tennis and pickleball as well. Hiking nearby was beautiful and the town of Twain Harte has a great grocery store, wine tasting and restaurant that we enjoyed.

BEST home rental ever!

In all of the years that our group (five couples) have been renting homes for long weekend getaways, we all agreed that we have never found one that fit our needs more perfectly than Mark & Kathy's "Mountain House". From the moment you drive onto the property you notice how much care has been put into every square inch of the three acres and then you walk into the house! From the bedrooms to the kitchen, you can see the attention to detail everywhere you look...what a lovely and comfortable environment in which to spend time with friends and family. We look forward to returning and spending time relaxing, playing bocce, and exploring more of the local area. Wonderful family get away

We have stayed at this beautiful home both in the winter and summer and loved our stay each time. In the wintertime our kids enjoyed the large selection of board games and movies as well as the sleds that were supplied in the shed. In the summer we roasted smores at the fire pit and played wiffle ball on the expansive lawn. Both times we went to Dodge Ridge-- just a 20-30 minute car ride away-- to ski (in the winter) and mountain bike (summer). Pinecrest Lake is also close by, a beautiful family friendly lake with hiking, a marina and general store. Great family vacation no matter the season!

Very relaxing home

The property was amazing everything was nice and neat. Plenty of flat ground for the kids to play, the basketball hoop was a hit. The whole family really enjoyed the quietness of the area. What a great place for a little getaway with the family.

Perfect for large family

My extended family had a wonderful time staying at Cathy’s Twain Harte property on Labor Day Weekend. It is evident that this is not just a rental property, but her family’s second home by the way it has been painstakingly kept up. My family rented both the main house and cottage and it was the perfect amount of space for our large group of adults, teenagers and children. The property had every amenity you could think of, but we especially loved the gas firepit, game shed and porch for enjoying the beautiful location, including lots of wildlife such as deer, rabbits and even bears (although we just saw the tracks). We will absolutely consider staying here again for future trips!

We LOVE the Mountain House

We just finished our second visit to this wonderful mountain home. Our group of family and friends enjoyed this spacious property and took full advantage of all the amenities and games. This home is located just minutes from downtownTwain Harte and close to Pinecrest Lake. Checking in and checking out was very easy and the host was available if need be. We highly recommend this property and hope to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had fun hanging out at the property and exploring the area.

The rental was clean and very organized. It was clear how the owner wanted check out completed which made it easy when getting ready to check out. The owner had a list of fun things to do around the area and places to eat. We had so much fun at the property, there was always something to do. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with supplies. We can’t wait to go back.

Relaxing Family Vacation

Our large group of 10, consisting of 8 adults and 2 children (ages 6, 4) loved our 5 day stay at the Mountain House. The house and cottage were both clean and inviting and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The entire home was well organized, the kitchen fully equipped, beds super comfortable, and the game shed offered a wide variety of fun outdoor activities. We enjoyed every meal outside on the beautiful patio and spent evenings under the stars gathered around the fire pit roasting marshmello's. The host Cathy was detailed and communicative from beginning to end and even shared details on local events during our stay. The surrounding area offers tons of activities year around; we enjoyed fishing/boating at Pinecrest Lake, Columbia State Historic Park, and horseback riding, just to name a few. Overall, we had a wonderful and relaxing time and would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a stay in the Twain Harte/Pinecrest area!! Thank you, Cathy for sharing your home with us!

Family fun

We had great time. Cathy’s house is perfect, clean , large enough for everyone to have space and not feel on top of each other. We ventured out a bit but mostly just enjoyed the house and grounds and all the games, fire pit.

Have fun panning for gold, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, or wine tasting, all while surrounded by gorgeous scenery. And don't forget about Yosemite National Park--about 60 miles away--considered one of the most beautiful places on earth.

There are several golf courses in the area - Teleli in Sonora (15 minutes). Copperopolis in Saddle Creek (25 minutes) or Green Horn Creek in Angels Camp (30 minutes). Or play the charming nine hole course in downtown Twain Harte - only 5 minutes away.
