Beautiful home that is well-appointed and very comfortable. The property owners were extremely nice and very accommodating. Highly recommend and would stay here again.
Fantastic layout for a large group (master suite on both levels), especially if your group includes kids.
One note: the house is much better looking than the photos on the listing as of Jan 2020 ... I'd recommend new photos to really showcase the house. Great place!
The home is located in a great, central location. Close to restaurants in all directions, walkable neighborhood, gorgeous trails across the way and close to mountains. Our family of 6 + 2 doodles enjoyed our visit in this cozy home. We were able to explore all parts of Tahoe + Truckee in our week long stay. The kids especially enjoyed the hot tub after snowboarding all day.
Very nice property. The owners were great in getting back to us when we had any issues. It was unfortunate that we couldn't really go anywhere and had to stay in the house because of the smoke. No biking, hiking or boating. Tried to make the best of it. Just sad that it was kind of a wasted vacation because of the fires.
We would like to thank Renee and her family for staying at they cabin. It was fun and wonderful to meet for a family reunion out there. The property was great and the locations is excellent 👍. All the proximity to the Tahoe city and other amazing locations made it so fun and relaxing. Great place to stay for 12 people.
We would comeback again.
This was a fabulous place to stay! The house was clean, centrally located and had everything we needed. We were able to cook great family meals, do daily laundry, hang out on the beautiful, large deck and go for great walks in the neighborhood. The owners are amazing and quite frankly the best people we have ever rented from. Every time I emailed with a question or request, I got a prompt reply. These are people who genuinely care about their home and their renters. They answered questions, recommended places for us to see and go to eat, and the one need I had, they were on it and got it taken care of! We have rented many places through the years but this was by far, the best!
Stayed over 4th of July with a group of 10 friends and a dog.
PROS:
Overall the space was great for our needs. Large central room with big kitchen. Pictures are pretty accurate. We cooked and bbqd several days and made plenty of use of the back deck. Neighborhood is charming and location is convenient to get to some of the local public beaches or bars (but still requires driving to get anywhere).
CONS:
This place is not air conditioned so expect to keep all the doors and windows open otherwise place is too stuffy in the summer. We also had to buy our own fan as one was not provided. We got a few noise complaints from neighbors, granted we were playing music somewhat loudly and the noise carries in this neighborhood but turned it down when told. Short term renters are no longer able to use the Dollar Point Association facilities (Pool, private beach, etc) so that really makes the value of staying in dollar point go down especially since you still need to drive to get to the public beaches.
Renee’s place was better than it looked online. The house is well equipped, has a great layout and very well stocked. The location is perfect and it’s very dog friendly. The only issue is that the HOA pool, tennis courts and beach are no longer accessible for tenants which was somewhat disappointing.
My family rarely has the opportunity for all of us to meet up in one location for a vacation as we come from many different locations. But we decided to come back to Lake Tahoe to ski at Squaw/Alpine as it had been many years since coming here.
The first point: I am so glad we chose this general location. It's away from the ski slopes so you have a different feel, but really only about 15 minutes away. I actually came home one day for lunch and then drove right back.
Second Point: the house just feels comfortable. it is very spacious, and because there are bedrooms on two levels, you have a chance to have some degree of separation and privacy. There are four bathrooms, all freshly updated, and we used the hot tub every night.
Third point: It is dog friendly which is what we needed and the neighborhood is very private with basically no through traffic, which means you can walk pets without worrying about traffic. You can also walk down to the lakefront and there is a cute park (of course we did this with snow on the ground, so I can only imagine what its like in the summertime). But dont worry if you dont have pets, the house is fine either way.
fourth point: the owner, Renee, was very helpful in giving us guidance and pointers for the area. I am not a regular VRBO user, so I was not sure how we would interact with the owner, and if that is even allowed, but Renee checked in with us on the first night to make sure everything was OK and I felt comfortable asking questions. It's like you are talking with a friend.
so overall, we had a great time. We were lucky to arrive after a huge snow dump and we just had a lot of fun. The house is not pretentious and its just a place to feel like you can sit back and relax. the photos are accurate to give you a general sense of the house but truth I was still pleasantly surprised when we arrived as so many times photos exaggerate reality.
This is a beautiful house in a great neighborhood. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. We were looking for a dog friendly home with a hot tub in Dollar Point and this house was prefect for us. Comfy beds, good wi-fi, cable TV., large dishwasher. If you are bringing small children, consider bringing 2 baby gates for the top of the stairs inside and on the balcony and some plastic plates/cups, etc. Walking distance to the pool/play area and very short drive to the beach. We have been coming to Dollar Point for 20 years and I would highly recommend this home and will stay again.
The house had a nice layout and beautiful and functional kitchen. The clubhouse with tennis courts and a pool was very close.
The home does not have air conditioning, but most homes and Lake Tahoe probably don’t. The living room needs aceiling fan or provide portable fans in closet during

Thank you Maryrose for the feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve the stay of our guests. While we do have a ceiling fan in the master bedroom you bring up a good point to adding one in the main living room and fans in the other three bedrooms. We'll put that on our list for next years summer renters. You are correct....air conditioning is not very common in Tahoe.
We had a great time here with our family this summer. The house is big and comfortable for a group. We had 6 adults and 2 children and had more than enough space for all. Location is convenient near the pool and tennis courts. Large kitchen and open entertainment/dining area upstairs was excellent. Very easy to communicate with owners and easy check-in.
This property is located in a great neighborhood with a private beach and a community pool. The kitchen is well stocked and there is tons of room for dining inside and out. We have stayed at the house four years in a row and will be back again.

Perfectly relaxing & beautiful
We spend a week in North Lake Tahoe every year. We always have a big group of family members and have stayed at many different beautiful spots. We have added this spot to one of our favorites. The home is beautiful. I especially loved the huge open, well equipped, immaculate kitchen and open floor plan. We loved every thing about this home, from the beautiful bathrooms, woodsy views, comfy beds and great amenities. So much to do with the lake so close. Kayaking, relaxing at the beach and we spent 2 of our days at the wonderful pool area equipped with bocci ball, shuffle board and lots of things to keep the kids busy.
Always a pleasure to find every thing you are looking for in one exceptional spot! I highly recommend this home.
The family of chipmunks living in a bird house on a tree at eye level right off the deck provided endless entertainment during all of our meals. They too appreciated the comfort of this gracious home.

Great location! Excellent remodel with well stocked kitchen.
Our family and one other rented this home for a week in July and really enjoyed the home. The remodel was very well done and the new kitchen is great. Everything you would need to cook and prepare meals was provided. The location is excellent and very convenient. I would recommend this home for anyone looking for a home in the Tahoe City area. The owners were quick to respond to any questions and the home was very clean. We really enjoyed the community pool and beach.

We had a great Tahoe vacation at this beautiful home.
This home is ideal for active families looking for a Tahoe adventure. Its central location made many activities accessible; beach days, rafting the Truckee river, hiking near Alpine Meadows, swimming at Sand Harbor, thrill-seeking at Tahoe Tree Top Adventures. Additionally, the house is lovely, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Our only suggestion is to have paper products and cleaning supplies accessible for guests. We had to purchase toilet paper, paper towels etc. and could not find a broom to clean as needed throughout the week. Thank you for having us.

About the host

Thank you for considering a vacation at our family Tahoe home. I was raised in Michigan and have been a competitive skier my whole life. My parents gave me the gift of loving the outdoors, skiing, water sports, and appreciation for beautiful lakes! My husband John was raised in Ukiah and their family spent summers kayaking and camping. Together we have a love of Lake Tahoe and are now sharing that with our three young boys. We purchased this home July 2015 hoping to give our boys a childhood centered on family, tradition and a love of the outdoors.
