This is our fourth time staying there and each time its as enjoyable as the first time. Absolutely lovely place as well as the host. Will definitely be back!
Great property if you want to be out of the city but not too far out from the city. Great nature trail with easy access next to the property. Property was very clean when we arrived. Heater in one room wasn't functional but if you have the door open in the next room with the working heater, it'll be fine. Enjoyed our stay.
We were very pleased with the cabin, the pictures on line do not do it justice. It is nicely stocked with all the essentials. The property is private, so peaceful. There are several outdoor areas to sit and visit or just enjoy the quiet. There is a trail head right at the end of the driveway that we walked daily and it is close to town so we were able to explore Flagstaff and NAU. Would highly recommend.
The cabin was super clean and looked even better in person. We had 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs and still felt we all had our own areas to relax. The dogs enjoyed running the big property and we loved that we were only 10mins from town and the kids loved the stocked games in the playroom. The driveway was snowy/dirt so be prepared for that but both our sedans did fine getting to the home. Had a great weekend away from the city and played in the snow, would definitely come back! :)
Our daughter lives in the area, but we live in Texas. It was a wonderful place for our family to get together. It snowed but quickly melted...it was beautiful walking throughout the acreage under the tall pine trees....I highly recommend this place. But be warned of the stairs to the loft...they are narrow and the handrail is missing at the upper half. The bathroom upstairs is extremely small and the toilet clogs.

Perfect home away from home
We are grateful for the thought and care that went into making this home away from home a true retreat! We loved being out in the woods and yet close to town. The location was perfect for our day trips to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Everything about the home was as good as or better than advertised. The home flows so well and has great lighting. Many of us commented on how comfortable our beds were. As we love to make meals together, we were particularly impressed with how well resourced the kitchen is...everything we needed. A highlight for the six of us that stayed there was the walking trails that start just yards from the property, lead into a local nature reserve, wind along a creek past historic Native American petroglyphs and include hilly terrain and a waterfall. Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time to enjoy all that we could at this home and in this area. I guess we’ll just have to come back!
From the start of the property line to the inside heated bathroom tiles, we enjoyed every moment of our stay! The property is large and spacious for the dogs to roam and sniff all the good things! The cabin is cozy and has a very warm and welcoming ambiance! We look forward for our next booking!
We had a fantastic time at Rain Valley Ranch over the holiday week! The property is only about 10 minutes from downtown Flagstaff and is located on a large quiet property surrounded by beautiful pine trees. The cabin was amazingly well stocked with anything and everything we needed to fix meals for the 5 of us. Check in was painless, communication with Jen was super easy and we enjoyed the homey feel of the cabin. The little propane stove kept us super warm and honestly we spent most of our time just relaxing, visiting and catching up with my folks. My daughter loved the well stocked game room and we enjoyed the most awesomely comfortable king bed located in the loft. The bedrooms and living room have very large Smart TV’s which came in handy for winding down at night and snuggling in for a bunch of great holiday movies. If you are looking for a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the wildlife, whispering pines and a bit of tranquility, then Jen & John’s cabin is the perfect place!!
This place was amazing, a fully stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs. TV in every room. Warm cozy atmosphere could not ask for more. Several outside patios to have your morning coffee at. The fire pit was great. The property is massive and set up for equestrian use. Highly recommend will be going back for sure.
It was wonderful to stay in a place with so much land. We were able to hike to park right from house. Stove kept cabin very warm. Everything we needed was there or close by. Will love to go again in future.
We spent Christmas break up at this perfect cabin.
The grounds around the cabin were beautiful.
Plenty of room to hike and feel like you have so much land around you to be alone… I would highly recommend this cabin.
This property was everything it’s cracked up to be. Beautiful home with 3 bedrooms. We never used one of the bedrooms, but my wife and our two dogs used the rest of the home. This is a huge property and our dogs absolutely loved exploring every inch of it. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and feel like you’re out on a ranch in the country. And yet it only takes 10 minutes to stores and restaurants. A perfect 10.
Nature around the cabin was intriguing and beautiful. The property is built for horses and we didn't have any but loved the space on the property. Wildlife is amazing and the peace and quite was nice. We would love to come back.
Loved the chance to be in nature, got a chance to unplug and relax. Property was cleaned and stocked with essentials. Had a great time!

We have always dreamed of having a home in Flagstaff to get out of the triple digit temperatures in Phoenix! Our dream came true over 10 years ago when we found this quaint house and it's glorious property. We feel extremely lucky and blessed to own such an amazing piece of land. Every time we visit our cabin we immediately relax and let nature rest our soul. Now that our son is in high school and very busy with his sport, we decided to open up our house and share it with likeminded folks that just want to get away and relax. We hope you enjoy this peaceful property and the surrounding forest and find your inner peace.
Why they chose this property
We searched for 3 years trying to find the perfect property in Flagstaff for a second home. We came across this one and fell in love right away! It has the perfect combination of being away from neighbors and commotion, but yet close to civilization. Rain Valley Ranch is on 5 acres of pine forest and borders 477 acres of trails and Picture Canyon Preserve. We have horse-friendly vinyl fencing surrounding the property as well as accommodations for up to 4 horses. It is located just 2 miles from a grocery store and the Flagstaff Mall.
What makes this property unique
Come relax in the hammock or enjoy some peace and quiet on the front porch! If you are a horse owner, bring your horse with you on vacation! We have 4 outdoor paddocks with 6 foot wide covered awnings for protection from the elements. There is a fenced arena/pasture area over looking a valley below. We built a cinder sand exercise track around the 5 acres for younger or inexperienced riders/horses to trail ride.
