We enjoyed our stay at the Hayden Wexford home (built in 1832!) in Old Quebec. The home is located on a popular street along the St. Lawrence River, that leads you to the old parts of the city. The house has an amazing history, which is available to read in a small notebook. Our host was very responsive and helpful with the city map. We LOVED Strom Spa and stayed the entire day. Many of the restaurants in Quebec are wonderful. We enjoyed walking daily, shopping, and eating. The only challenge was having BR's on the 3rd floor. Make sure you are prepared for that. They are steep and narrow, but we managed with our carry-on suitcases. Thanks you for letting us stay in this eccentric historic home.

Great stay near Le Petit Champlain

Our family had a great stay at Wexford House. Jacques & Sylvie were great hosts and their historic and beautiful home was about a 15 min walk to Le Petit Champlain in the old town area of Quebec City. We had loads of room for our family of 4.

Quebec City Family Vacation

We had a great stay here in Quebec City. The old town is a 10-15 min walk from the house with lots to do and see. The house was very neat and fun to stay in such a historic property. Hosts were welcoming and helpful. All in all we would recommend.

Fantastic

This property was incredible! It checked off all of our boxes, and even the boxes we didn't anticipate. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and I would stay there again next time I'm in the area.

Great location. Mostly described accurately. The kitchen was well stocked with a good assortment of dishes, pots, etc. We cooked every day so this was very helpful. My only complaint was that the description was inaccurate as the bedrooms are actually on the third floor, not the second as in the description. For elderly people with bad knees, this made a difference. There is a full second floor which is inaccessible; I assume it is private for the family. It would have been helpful to get the code to the door sent before we arrived. I would encourage the owner to use the VRBO system to communicate, as there seemed to be some glitch with using direct email to communicate.Other than that, it was everything we could have hoped for.

house with stairs

Living areas of home were large and comfortable. Bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Need to be physically fit because bedrooms are up two flights of steep stairs. Location was excellent.

The house

The place was really nice, the people where nice. Suggestion: please note in your description about the stairs—not good for seniors or people with balance issues Car area—-too small and too narrow

Old World Charm

Jacques and Sylvie were great, answering questions before we arrived and greeting us to show us around their home before they headed off. Home had everything we needed, especially the kitchen as we cooked on Christmas, and even a Christmas tree which just made the stay that much better with our presents underneath. There were two parking spaces, one at the home and another just down the street, but we didn't use the cars. We enjoyed walking into town and up the stairs to the park, even in the 10 degree F/-10 degree C cold. Our adult family of 6 could not have had a better holiday. If you want to be transported back 150 years but with hot showers, stay here!

Hayden Wexford Holiday

Our four days at Hayden Wexford House have been delightful and delicious. Our accommodations were perfect for the four of us. We especially enjoyed having lunch outside in the Gazeb and having room to play cards and games in the evening. Our “vacation home” had everything we could want for relaxing and enjoying Quebec. Being so close to Petit Champlain and sightseeing pick up points gave us the chance to truly be part of Old Quebec each day. Walks in the neighborhood are picturesque and neighbors are friendly. Close access to the St. Lawrence River and the bikeway alongside are refreshing We made friends with the women who operate the sandwich and ice cream shop around the corner. Thank you for offering a historic and well-equipped home for us to enjoy and create our own memories of Quebec.

A great place to gather with old friends

We arranged to meet up with old friends from high school, and our friends came from NS, California and Toronto. This property provided a lovely dining room and living room for us to dine together, chat and catch up. The property is located near a lovely tourist district, about a 20 min walk (everyone in our group is pushing 60) and close to the old Quebec city. The neighbours were so lovely, the area was beautiful, the beds were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and fun to be in. Important for others to note, the stairs in this house are steep. I highly recommend this property, and I recommend you research the history of this property, and the owners, learn more about their history as a B&B. Very worthwhile

Hayden’s Wexford House was the perfect place for us in Québec City. It’s in the Cap Blanc area along the St. Laurence River. We wanted to be away from the busy areas. It’s a brisk ten-minute walk to the main tourist area. Communication was easy. There were no issues with the property. It’s a unique historic building. But it’s also got a full kitchen, nice bedrooms and bathrooms and furniture. We were all wowed and loved it. The neighborhood is quiet. Try out the little snack restaurant and the Cap-Blanc stairs! It might not be for everyone. The bedrooms are on the third floor up a steep staircase. That might be important if you have any mobility issues.

Very nice and spacious property. Big living room and dining rooms are great for gatherings of 6 to 8 people. Fans kept us cool on hot days. Bathrooms are very large. Only down side is steep, narrow stairs. That wasn’t problem for us but could be for some. We like walking so the 15 minute walk to the city center did not bother us but location could be a little closer to the action. It’s a pretty walk along the river.

Hayden’s Wexford Inn is enchanting. We loved our stay in this beautiful, historic property, and it was the perfect location for walking to everything within the walled city. Sylvie and Jacques are great hosts. We hope to return!

Fantastic location!

This house has a fantastic location. We walked everywhere from here. I wanted to stay in an old, historic house, and that is what we got! That does come with some issues though. We are a family of able-bodied folks, but I think there needs to be a warning in the listing about the stairs. The bedrooms are on the 3rd floor and the stairs are a bit sketchy! It would be impossible for someone with a disability to access the bedrooms. We loved the stone walls and they kept the downstairs cool since there in not AC on the first floor. There is also a tremendous amount of "stuff" in the house, so if you are a minimalist, this might make you anxious (as it did me!) We did have a great stay with our 4 boys and the caretaker was incredible and very responsive and helpful!
