Picturesque views from every window. Great privacy and charm. Walk to the sea a real highlight and garden was a haven of beautiful plants, butterflies, apple trees and sunny spots to sit. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely spot!
We had a wonderfull time at the cottage at Mount Earl. A very cosy cottage, very clean and well equiped. Beautyful and quiet surroundings, well kept garden and the sea closeby (20 minutes walk). The communication with the owners made us feel very welcome and at home.
There’s a good change we will come back!
A beautiful setting deep in the countryside - deeply peaceful and with wonderful views. We found the walk down to the cove quite strenuous but not long and well worth the effort - a beautiful cove! And many other places to visit nearby.
There is a spiral staircase which was no problem at all to us - just need to ensure those staying are able bodied - could be a problem with babies, young children and those with disabilities.
But a lovely well kept cottage, clean and everything working!
From the moment we arrived at Mount Earl, we fell in love! The cottage was impeccably clean, every little detail had been thought about, comfy beds, lovely owners and beautiful surroundings!
The surroundings of this property are amazing, it’s so peaceful. We walked down towards the cove on the first evening, the walk was so beautiful. Sue and Mike couldn’t of been friendlier or any more helpful, thank you so much!
We can’t recommend this property enough if you want peace and quiet, stunning surroundings and accommodation that makes you feel like you’re at home!
5 stars all the way from booking to the wonderful greeting from Mike the host. Stunning peaceful location and we fell in love with the cottage and grounds on first sight. So well equipped for self catering Mike and Sue have thought of everything you could need. Comfortable bed and super shower. We know we will be back. If you want a secluded detached cottage this is the place to stay.
We had a lovely time here. The property came with everything that we needed. There is plenty of outdoor space and the grounds are very well kept.
The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returning.
We were looking for a get away from it all winter long weekend. Really not sure we could have found anywhere better.
There was a terrific storm on arrival and while there, our host Mike had set the wood burning stove going so the whole house was as cozy as!
To top it all we were entertained at night by calling owls - if you get the impression we had a good time then you are right.
Communication was great with Mike but things kept going wrong with the shower, it kept having an airlock and we kept having to wait for it to work so with 4 of us waiting for a shower it wasn’t great. The sofa bed in living room was extremely uncomfortable and not flat, there was a damp smell in the living room every morning when we went downstairs.
We had a wonderful week here. The house is cosy and comfortable and the location is unbeatable. Beautiful garden to relax in with the sea view and the walk down to the cove and swimming in the clear turquoise sea- heaven 😍
Mike & Sue made us most welcome. The cottage was excellent and in a stunning location.
We enjoyed our stage at Mount Earl very must. The owners could not do enough for us. They also prepared some excellent walks which were well sign posted. Our overall stay was excellent.
We loved our stay at Mount Earl, the first week away we'd had for over a year due to covid. This lovely cottage overlooks a wooded valley and is a haven for wildlife/birds (woodpeckers, buzzard, various small garden birds). It was so peaceful, maybe too remote for some but that's exactly what we were looking for. Even in December the woodland walks down the valley to the secluded cove was lovely. We ventured to other places during the day (Lizard, Kennack Sands, Penzance, Mullion, Mylor Bridge) and although the weather could have been kinder (wind and rain) we enjoyed quality time in this peaceful setting. Sue and Mike were lovely hosts. We look forward to visiting again possibly in spring/autumn.
A good sized detached cottage set in lovely private gardens. It has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay and with access to the coastal path via private woodland, it ideal for families and those seeking an outdoor holiday
Sue & mike were so helpful and friendly, Mount Earl is a gem, would whole heartedly recommend a stay here!@

About the host
Hosted by Sue Willis
My husband and I moved to Cornwall in 1999 and have been renting Mount Earl as a holiday let since 2001.
We enjoy an outdoor lifestyle on the beautiful Lizard peninsula. We make the most of the wild rugged costal path walks..the lovely unspoilt beaches. Mike particularly enjoys exploring the remote coves on his Kayak and the occasional fishing trip.
We have many guests returning to Mount Earl and we have made lots of good friends over the years.
Why they chose this property
We immediately fell in love with the cottage and its location in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to the costal path and sea.
What makes this property unique
Mount Earl is situated a quarter of a mile from the nearest public lane, offering a high degree of privacy and seclusion.Set within 32 acres of private woodland/heath nature lovers can enjoy the unusual flora and fauna. Recently, the woodland has revealed the ruins of an ancient mill close to the pretty Downas stream. It is only a 20 minute rugged walk to an unspoilt secluded cove where seals and basking sharks have been spotted. The south west coast path is close by, incorporating the breathtaking vantage point of Black Head and far reaching views towards England's most southerly point. The pretty fishing village of Coverack is approx. 2 miles away, where there is a lovely sandy beach, village shops, cafes and pub serving local seafood.
