We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the spectacular views from the property. It was quite hot while we were there so we spent a good amount of time enjoying the refreshing pool. As the reviews state, Monica’s dinners are so delicious and a highlight of our trip!

Monica's home and hospitality were wonderful! We would go on holiday here every year if we could. We loved the view, dinner, and all of the animals (especially Bebe). We were able to drive to Florence, Pisa, and Lucca from her home. On days where we didn't have anything planned, we enjoyed the view of the mountains and the homes below. Monica was a welcoming host and was very kind to us. The only downside of staying here is that you will be sad to go back home. I can't recommend enough!

Seven of us stayed for a week in August in four separate bedrooms on the property during a heat wave when the daytime temperatures reached 100F almost every day. It would have made a real difference if at night the rooms could be cooled by putting a box fan in the windows - just a suggestion for the future. Otherwise Monica and Giovanni were wonderfully considerate and made us an incredible dinner on the night we arrived. Having different animals around created an authentic experience of being far away from it all, and the view from the wonderful pool is as amazing as anything we have ever seen in Tuscany.

We (2 families, 7 in total) spent a week at Monica’s place. We had a great time! Monica is very responsive and helpful. She cooked a wonderful 4-course dinner for us one night. The house(s) is very clean and well organised, the pool area super nice and woth stunning views. Access by car is easy and there are beautiful small villages nearby, and a 20-minute drive to Lucca. A small comment is the lack of air conditioning- it was an extremely warm July and the house was hard to cool down even with shutters and fans. Also, we were a bit surprised by the animals (cats, dogs and a sheep) living in the host’s part of the house, but they were friendly enough. Thank you for a nice stay,

This was a beautiful and peaceful 6 night respite in the middle of our 18 day trip to Italy. An old world feel with plenty of room for the 6 of us to spread out. The location provided easy access for day trips to Cinque Terre and Pisa and, of course, beautiful Lucca. We thoroughly enjoyed our mountain village tour with Giovanni. Monica's meals were some of the very best food that we had on our trip. So happy with our stay. (bring euros to pay for extras - meals/Giovanni tour. Also bring bath products and ground coffee. Internet is weak, they were attempting to fix it while we were there)

We had a wonderful stay in Valgiano! Unfortunately it was cut short by a problem with our rental car, but the 4 days we spent there were wonderful. The highlights were the tour of the hillside villages with Giovanni and the meal that Monica served us.

Lovely stay at the farmhouse

We really enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. From the great indoor and outdoor spaces to the dogs, goats, chickens and cow to the fantastic dinner prepared by Monica and the great tour hosted by Giovanni everything exceeded our expectations.

Epic views, kind hosts, very comfortable house

Our hosts made dinner reservations for us and had great suggestions regarding the surrounding area. Nearby cooking classes, wine tastings were exceptional.

The villa was perfect and was in a picturesque spot. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a lovely trip to Tuscany. It's ideally situated between Pisa and Florence, and the local city of Lucca is beautiful.

A wonderful place to stay at. A real tuscany dream and the hosts Monica and Giovanni made us feel really comfortable and welcome. To recommend: a dinner when Monica cooks for you. The best meal during our stay. Lovely.

Perfect for a little glimpse of 12th Century life with some modern day conveniences. Gorgeous home, landscape and Tuscan views. Host Monica is a chef that prepared us meals for two very enjoyable night. She is an excellent cook. She is a great community resource. We also took advantage of the tour (co host) Giovanni offered. It is an all day tour of villages not seen by most tourists. Both Monica and Giovanni go above and beyond to make your stay fabulous. We were 5 women with no car. Never had a problem getting to Lucca or where ever we were traveling to (via taxi) and were in walking distance to restaurant and a fabulous winery. (Please ask Monica to arrange reservations).

We had an amazing stay - great accommodations and Monica is an outstanding host and chef! We had a fantastic tour of the ancient mountain villages by Monica’s friend, Giovanni - a highlight of our trip. We wouldn’t change a thing and really hope to be back!!

Great stay - the best meals

This property is the perfect place to relax with stunning views and a beautiful country home. The highlight for sure were the meals Monica prepared for us, they were the best meals we had in two weeks in Italy made with only the freshest ingredients. If you stay here be sure to have her cook for you as much as your schedule permits. We can’t wait to return.

Amazing week in Tuscany

Monica & Giovanni were simply wonderful! We had the best time! The house and view were beautiful, and our family and children enjoyed every moment. We were also amazed by Monica’s cooking which was truly the best meals we had our entire trip. She was absolutely wonderful!

Tuscan farm living at it’s best!

The property was breathtaking, the animals were so fun to be around and Monica and Giovanni were the most exceptional hosts. You must have her cook for you, every item of food is from her farm or nearby farms and the food was perfect! We really enjoyed our time here with not only the accommodations but the company. You can truly see how much Monica cares for her beautiful animals. We hope to come again someday!!

Wonderful stay in Tuscany

We enjoyed the pool and the amazing views. Monica and Giovanni were very helpful and always available as they are staying at the same place (which was not clear on the description). We found that some equipments were missing in the kitchen but overall we had a great experience! We loved the tour we booked with Giovanni and highly recommend it!!

Stunning villa in Italy

Wow, what a stay. We stayed here as a family for a week in May and it was incredible. The views from the villa are unreal and the place itself is gorgeous. Monica is a fabulous host who cooked us a delicious meal on our first night. Her and Giovanni were so welcoming and suggested a beautiful restaurant nearby one evening and even booked it for us. We had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend.

Amazing location and fantastic hosting

This was a special event made even better by the beautiful house and Monica's great cooking and hosting. Stunning views and beautiful rooms. Monica welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed, she couldn't have been nicer. We also arranged for her to cook a celebration meal one night which was exceptional, genuine local products, her own cheese and a real flavour of Tuscan cookery. I can't recommend this place and Monica enough.

Dream location

Villa Lean was the most breathtaking Villa to call home for two weeks. My family of nine were made to feel right at home. The accommodations were perfect and Monica was an amazing host. We had her make dinner our first night and it was the best meal - hands down - that we had in Italy. We can’t wait to go back!

Our host was simply wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about this experience. This was a delightful gathering of friends in Lucca. I definitely recommend having Monica cook a meal for you one night while you stay- you will not be disappointed. I also recommend buying some of Monica's cheeses to enjoy while you are there- they pair perfectly with local meats, and you cannot get fresher cheese than this. Hospitality and responsiveness was wonderful- and they have many great insights on things to experience in the area. This was truly a wonderful and special visit.
