House is comfortable and close to city. Living areas were clean, and kitchen had everything we needed. Beautiful view off rear deck, felt very private. My only suggestion would be to run the tap water a bit in the morning before making coffee because we seemed to be getting a odd taste at first, but then it was fine. Also, the owner might want to provide a little space and hangers in the bedroom closets for guests to hang things. Owner is laid-back, renting was easy. Great spot - would definitely return.

Warm, comfortable with everything we needed!!
We stayed 3 days (4 nights). Access was easy once we got there the first time ( Rolling Oaks Drive is the first right after passing the WNC Baptist Home). We took the first right to the Holistic sanctuary. The home was clean, well stocked with necessities for the first night and was all we needed for a wonderful weekend. Kitchen was adequate for cooking a holiday meal for my daughter and her family. It is close to downtown Asheville and was dog friendly. Mark was easy to work with allowing us to extend our stay an extra night for my birthday!!

Wonderful retreat, great views
We really enjoyed our stay, great location, super close to downtown, but far enough away where you feel like you're really in the mountains. The home was nicely furnished with everything we needed for a family of 4, including a well-stocked kitchen. The views off the back deck we're very nice. Recommend.

Comfortable, Great View, Close to town
A comfortable retreat! The house is located in a quiet neighborhood yet it's so convenient to downtown Asheville. A bonus is the back deck with a spectacular mountain view. The home works equally well as a "base camp" for in town excursions and also as a comfortable place to hang out, cook dinner in and catch a movie on the big screen TV.

Just OK
We were unable to check-in or reach the owner (phone calls and text) so after over an hour of working with HomeAway we moved into a hotel for the night. Upon finally getting in on day 2 the place was reasonable and as shown in the pictures:
-There is a slight cigarette smell, and the ash burns in the carpet of the master bedroom would lead you to believe a smoker once lived there.
-There is an iron but no ironing board.
-The downtown is only ~10minutes away but ubers for Sat / Sun night wound up being ~$30 for each round trip.
-The fenced in back yard is very small - really only suitable for the dog to go to the bathroom - not for exercise.
The owner offered free nights in the future to make up for the inconvenience but I don't think that I would stay here again.

Beautiful scenic stay in Asheville
We stayed for three nights in this house and really enjoyed the entire experience. The home is nicely furnished, has been renovated, is certainly big enough and is well equipped with all you need to have a comfortable stay! The owner is very fiendly and responsive. I honestly would make the choice to stay there again. We enjoyed the house, the back deck that looked out over a vast amount of wilderness. The turkeys greeted us each morning and visited throughout the day (much to our dogs’ chagrin). The location is close to all we could want to do not only in Asheville but also it was easy to get to the fishing my guys were so intent on experiencing.

Cozy and perfect!
This house was a great vacation spot for New Years weekend in Asheville. It was close to downtown and easily accessible to other parts of town as it wasn’t far from the highways. The house is nesetled in a quiet neighborhood with lots of privacy. Turkeys joined us one afternoon and deer also came in the early mornings. The fire place and huge TV were great for movies and Sunday football.
Mark was very accommodating and opened up the 3rd bedroom so that we had a space for a small crib to put down a toddler. There was plenty of space for 4 adults, 1 child, and 2 dogs! We wish we could have enjoyed the spacious porch but it was a weekend of cold temps so we didn’t spend much time outside :)

great house!
We had a wonderful stay in this house over Christmas weekend 2017. Perfect size for 4 adults, close to everything, well stocked kitchen and lots of room for everyone to cook, nice fireplace and great trip to Asheville. Driveway was no problem! We come here to visit our daughter and will try to rent this house again!!! Looking forward to spending time on the back deck in nice weather.

Great location, comfortable home
Four of us stayed here for Thanksgiving 2017 and had a wonderful time. Location was great, taking Riverside Drive to Hill St to Montford Ave to Haywood St, takes you downtown in 10 minutes or less, very convenient, or go straight down Riverside Dr to the River Arts District and 12 Bones Smokehouse! And very relaxing sitting out on the deck (saw the wild turkeys and deer), or in the family room with the 70” TV. Also note, although it is not in the photos, there is a round dining table with chairs that held 6 of us comfortably for Thanksgiving dinner. As far as the driveway, it is a little steep, but there are concrete tire tracks that make it easy enough to maneuver (I had a Nissan Murano Front Wheel Drive with no problem, 4 wheel or all wheel drive wasn’t necessary, but it was dry while we were there). Nice towels and linens provided. Nice wood floors and you can tell it hasn’t been that long since the house had been painted. It is an older home, so you should expect the home to look a little “dated” and worn, even after a fresh coat of paint, you can’t expect a modern spotless home and it is not presented that way. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything went well. Mark's house was comfortable and not far from our destinations. Good restaurants, craft shopping and even a parade! The morning we left 9 turkeys came by and said a long goodbye. A good time.

Great house, great view
The house has an open setup with great views, a big deck, big tv, good furniture and all the basics for a comfortable stay. Easily sleeps 4 and has 2 full bathrooms. Good alternative to some of the expensive hotels and b&b places. Be aware that Ubers may not want to accept a ride request from this spot during the week...we were able to get one during the wknd. Potential solution is parking at a bar just across the river. Mark was responsive and helpful. Driveway is NOT dangerous by the way...any car will handle it fine.

Beautiful fall weekend in Asheville NC
Let's face it - Asheville is a gorgeous, happening place. The house we rented was conveniently located that so all our excursions (from zip lining and hiking to shopping and the best dinner ever!) were within easy reach. We chose to Uber into town at night and our drivers were ready for pickup in 5 to 10 minutes each way.
The house is comfortable and just the right size for 4 people and a couple of dogs. It's fairly open and we could move around without bumping into each other. There's a great round table for playing cards or doing puzzles and the back deck has an unbeatable view to the east. The kitchen is workable and several meals were created there. Though the house is a little tired and could benefit from a coat of paint, it certainly allowed us a happy and well-deserved vacation! We look forward to returning!

Beautiful property in a great location.
We loved our stay. Overall it is a decent size home and comfortably sleeps 4 people. It was clean and had all the amenities you would need for your stay. The backyard is great for dogs because it is fenced in. The porch is great for hanging out and catching a beautiful view. The house is in an awesome location. Our Uber ride to downtown Asheville was only 10 minutes max. It is only 45 minutes up the blue ridge parkway so you can enjoy a ton of hikes up there. We highly recommend at least driving blue ridge parkway even if you are not one for hiking...the views are absolutely beautiful. Down the street from the house is a small park is some hiking as well if you do not want to venture far.
Great restaurants nearby:
-Tupelo Honey Cafe
-White Duck Taco
-Korean House
-Asheville Pizza and Brew Co
-Buxton Hall BBQ
Our favorite breweries: (All are nearby one another so you can walk to most other than Sierra Nevada which is by the airport.)
-Burial Beer Co
-Wicked Weed
Hiking nearby:
-Black Balsam Knob via Art Loeb Trail (there is a short loop and also a 5 mile loop). Close to there we visited Skinny Dip falls which was a really easy hike to some falls where you can swim. You could spend days hiking this area so I would recommend packing a lunch and exploring. There is a cool restaurant worth going to while you are up in blue ridge called Pisgah Inn which serves fresh caught trout everyday. It is a pretty busy place so definitely plan to go and have a drink while you wait an hour or so. But that’s views are incredible and there is a beautiful lookout point.

Extremely Well-Equipped and Well-Supplied Home with Great Views and Responsive Owner
We stayed in this wonderful home for 5 nights, and two of our friends joined us for two nights. The house was immaculately clean and very well-furnished with oriental rugs, interesting objets d'art including gargoyles, and a huge television with Direct-TV and many, many channels. It was not out-dated, as suggested by one review, and all of the rooms were quite spacious. The kitchen was complete with modern appliances and many spices. Plenty of toilet paper and even soap and shampoo were supplied in the two full bathrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable with luxurious linens. The lanai and its view were much enjoyed, especially at cocktail time. The washer and dryer worked well. The air-conditioning and heating were very efficient. We even had wild turkeys in the driveway one morning. The home is convenient to everything in Asheville and is only about 8-10 minutes from downtown. The driveway was not so steep that our weak-engined intermediate-size rental car could not easily make it up the drive, even when it was loaded. You do not need a 4-wheel drive!
The owner was extremely responsive to emails throughout the reservation process and during the rental period.
This home is very suitable for both short-term and long-term rentals.
We were very pleased with the home and the entire rental experience.

Quiet and cozy place that's close to everything
Mark's house was the perfect homebase for our group of four, in town to celebrate my father-in-law's 60th birthday. Door code made coming and going easy (even if we wanted to split up and do separate things for part of a day) and everything was exactly as advertised. While sitting on the back deck and admiring the view, it was easy to feel like you're in a secluded, quiet cabin when it's just 10 min to most of the breweries and restaurants in town.
We didn't need to communicate much with Mark, but he was quick to respond when we did, and seems to be a nice host.
Would recommend this listing to any couples or small groups looking for a place to stay in Asheville!

great backyard view but tired old house
this cottage is OK for short term stay but leaves many challenges for long term renters. The driveway to the house needs a 4 wheel drive vehicle and is a bit dangerous. Two people are the maximum I would recommend for this tight two bedroom house. Mark is a responsive landlord but clearly this house has been used as a rental property for a few years and needs a makeover.

Great house, perfect location, nice view
My friend and I and our dogs spent 4 nights. It was great for my senior dog. Its location near the river was convenient to a number of restaurants and breweries along the river, and it was only about $8-$10 a trip with Lyft or Uber to downtown. Nicely decorated, comfy beds and furniture. Reasonably well stocked kitchen, good laundry facility. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing, running trails nearby
Four adults and two teens celebrated Thanksgiving in this very clean, lovely home. It is close to downtown with a beautiful mountain view. We really enjoyed the hiking/running trails which were in walking distance. Knowing that there were only two bedrooms available, we brought an inflatable mattress for the kids to sleep on. That worked well although we were a bit short on towels/blankets so you may want to bring your own. Thanks for a great stay!

The house was just as descried. No misleading photos.
This has been my best experience booking through Homeaway. Mark is a fantastic individual. And there were no hidden cost. We all say it " I can't wait to get back to my bed" after a trip. Not this time. Mark is inviting you into his home, which is furnished with quality furnishings, not rental crap. We've booked with Homeaway 14 times, and this was by far the best. To stay in Asheville, NC for 3 days and pay under $900 is nice, and that price included everything: clean up fee, taxes, everything. There were no $1500 deposits, no $350 cleaning fees, etc. The property Is secluded, but only 8 minutes to downtain and 20 minutes to the Biltore Estate. Stop looking, this is the house to book.

About the host
Hosted by Mark Morales
I was born in Manhattan, NYC. My parents were also born and raised there. Early influence by my aunt, a Broadway "gypsy" dancer inspired me to the performing arts where I worked with Joffrey Ballet and Alvin Ailey, and soon to transitioned to the Broadway stage in the revival of West Side Story working closely with Leonard Bernstein. Other shows include "Cats" and "Sunset Boulevard" working with Glenn Close while doing the soap opera, 'One Life To Live". I have just come out with a new CD titled, "Something's Coming" which will be a pleasure to share with you upon arrival to my home!
Why they chose this property
Moving from an apartment in Manhattan to owning this home in Asheville has given me new perspective on what life has to offer, and I have tried to meld my former artistic adventures into this very environment. I invite you to take advantage of my lovely home, so comfortable and easy, so private yet within a 6 to 10 minute drive from all Asheville has offer!
What makes this property unique
Mountain views, underscored by a large 12' x 60' deck. Digital access for easy entry. Large great room and kitchen, large pantry and laundry room. Master has a king bed. There are few better ways to experience a great nights' sleep in our mountains. Peace and quiet are the grand juxtaposition to a busy night on the town, and so you shall have it here. Springtime will greet you with a multitude of bulbs and flowers, planted over 12 years. Fall and winter bring a riot of autumn color and pristine mountain views. There is a championship Disc-Golf park about 1/4 mile away (truly walking distance), that has extensive hiking and biking trails down to the French Broad River. My dog Jack and I explore them just about every day! This area of Asheville is one of the best kept secrets in Asheville!!
