This is an amazing home with character in a nice neighborhood. Ample space with two bedrooms, living room, dining room, and large kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked with high-quality cookware (not the cheap stuff you find in some rentals) which was important to us, as we prepared many of our meals. The front porch was sublime for morning coffee and tea. Parking was easy with an area next to the house. Communication with the host was excellent and the checkout was easy. An outstanding stay, glad we found it, hope to come again!
The house is charming and has everything you need as described on the listing. The location was very convenient for us. Since the house is handicap accessible the shower head is very low. It’s not super convenient but it is detachable therefore, if you are a tall person you would have to hold it over your head to rinse off. It’s very minor and fixable. The host was responsive and overall if we were in the area again we would definitely chose to stay here.
Spacious, comfortable, clean, good location and great parking spaces. Host provides accurate description of the home. Hunter was very quick to respond and a great host.
Really feels like you stepped back in history. We enjoyed our 3 night stay. This home is only blocks away from our daughter's house, so it was easy to walk back and forth during our visit. Don't miss Laredo Tacos for breakfast - get there early to avoid the line. Would definitely stay here again.
Great long weekend visiting our son who lives closer to west Dallas, but great daily walk along and thru the parks, great restaurants around, very easy and comfortable stay.
We were grateful to find this home available during the dates that we needed it, while getting major repairs done on our house. The host kindly extended our rental for a few days. The backyard is made of gravel and is fenced, so that really helped as far as our two dogs. Very happy to have found this rental in our neighborhood. Thanks, Hunter!
This house is situated in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to the Buffalo bayou and for us our son's apartment so it works perfectly Second visit for us, hope to return.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay. It was perfect for our needs and in a really nice neighborhood close to downtown. Lots of restaurant option in walking distance.
I hope we can stay here again when we return in October.
This place has so much charm and proximity to delicious food. I was worried that it wouldn't be as nice as the pictures but honestly, it was nicer and even seemed more spacious. Wished I could stay longer.
Cottage had all we needed. Sponsors were very responsive. Great location for access to museums, parks, high end restaurants. Wish we had taken advantage of walking distance restaurants on Washington.
To sum it up this house is amazing for its age. As a child I spend many years in a house built in 1903 in East Texas. Bravo for keeping this piece of history a nice place to stay and still display its age. Host was great, property was great. I’d do it again anytime I visit Houston.
My wife, daughter and I stayed for 13 days while moving my daughter into her new apartment in Houston. Hunter was an excellent host - very responsive to any issues. Place is very comfortable, equipped well. Excellent location - very central. Easy parking.
Hunter was a great host. Let me in early, thank you! Property was well stocked. Neighborhood is amazing, very walkable with many places to eat. Very safe and friendly. Highly recommend this property for extended stay as there are so many things to do in Houston. Great proximity to downtown.
Home was beautiful and better than advertised. Owner is very responsive and helpful. Quiet residential area but central to many of Houston’s best districts (Heights, Montrose/Westheimer , Sawyer Yards, Washington Corridor etc.). Home was clean and even had some accessibility features like ramp to front porch and accessible shower that was great for my Mom. The kitchen was well appointed, beds were very comfortable. I loved the historical decor touches, creeky hardwood floors, and sitting on the large 1920’s craftsman/bungalow porch in the morning listening to rustling leaves. It was a solid choice to book and I plan to rent again in the future. Full bathroom is in between the two bedrooms but there is a small half bathroom off the dining area. There is only one large smart TV in home in living room so plan your in bedroom entertainment needs accordingly. The front yard has a plethora of greenery and huge oak trees, the back yard is more of a fenced in former driveway/dirt parking area with some greenery but not traditional backyard with full sod. I’m really glad with my stay overall and feel lucky to have landed on it. (January 2026)

Why they chose this property
It's a rare gem in a historic neighborhood in the shadow of downtown Houston. While the inside reflects the history of the house with it's exposed shiplap and antique furniture, it's dwarfed by the 100-200 year old trees that surround it. Despite it's setting on a quiet residential street it is just blocks away from dozens of fine restaurants and bars and less than 3 miles from downtown.
